| Whenever I've got stuck or had problems with my site, Doteasy Tech support have dealt with me very quickly and pleasantry. Just this week they quickly reset my login details so I could manage all my email users. I have 4 sites hosted by them using their FREE PACKAGE, I am certainly a satisfied customer. |

| Try transfering away from DotEasy and you'll get stuck with the 2 month penalty. Unethical. They also have negative option billing, so if you don't renew they'll bill you anyway. |

Doteasy is the absolute best. If I can build a website, anybody can. Without any experience in web design, I was thrown into maintaining a website due to the demise of the originator. So I had a million questions from A to Z and Doteasy was always there to help me. Doteasy's technical support is superb. They are always kind, patient, willing to help, and above all knowledgeable. I have and maintain four websites with them now, and I have no desire to ever consider trying another web host.

I have just found a sneaky charge of $10 on my c card. No where near domain renewal, nothing in my doteasy invoice history, no email, just a sneaky illegal charge on my credit card which I have told my card company to treat as an unauthorized charge. How many other illegal charges have they snuck past me over the years. They are crooks!
If you stay with them, my advise is to change your credit card info, and (by mistake) put in an incorrect expiry date, so they can't steal from you. |

| Stay away from Doteasy. Waste of time and their service isn't reliable. And if you want to cancel, for them to proceed with refund: billing@doteasy will request your credit card info, your signature and clear copy of both sides of your credit card. Does anyone knows why? |

I am updating my review since for the moment Doteasy seems to be redeeming itself inlight of this transfer issue. I did complain via email and here's what happened:
Got this email:
Hello Brian,
The AUTH code / EPP code has been mailed to the admin contact we have on file. As for the domain unlock, I saw that there was no change to your contact information, and submitted a request to see if there's any possibility to manually override the system.
I will update you once I have more information.
And then...
Hello Brian,
I have confirmation from our administrator that he was able to manually override the system to unlock your domain because there were no changes in your contact information.
Please proceed with your domain transfer.
Regards,
Johnny

And I was able to make the transfer! So all is well with my site http://www.f7digitaldesign.com it is now hosted in the good 'ol USA.

| I am using Doteasy to host my personal website, I upload using FileZilla, I keep getting connection time out, when I retried, 8/10 retries shows me 530 Olny 5 connections allowed per ip at a time, the files I am uploading is no more than 100k each. |

I just now tried to transfer my hosting and domain registration away from Doteasy and the "trap" mentioned below in several other reviews happened to me as well. Its a total catch 22 -- you have to "Login to your Member Zone and click on the Send AuthCode (for Advanced User Only) link to obtain your domain authorization code." But when you do to go further you have to "save changes" even if you don't change anything... then as others experienced it then says: "Unable to Process
Sorry your authorization code request cannot be processed due to the following:
60 days transfer restriction period for [account contact information changes]"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've sent an email complaining and asking for help... but these other emails scare me!
Hey--of all the positive people I don't think any talked about trying to transfer. Of course they are fine if you stay with them....

Read two recent posts in my blog about Doteasy at www.kamaranti.blogspot.com
They lock your domain for 2 months after you make a change in the account, like an email or phone #. So, if you just updated those to get ready for a domain transfer, you're stuck without them warning you. And if a transfer is two days late (because of slowness of the other company), you owe them not just $8 or $9 domain registration fee to renew, but a total of $25 for the package that includes free hosting. Nice if you want that, a trap if you don't. There are no negotiating people at Doteasy. Their system works like a trap. In general the account management is simplistic, inefficient and primitive. |

| I read most of the reviews. I can only speak for my own experiences. I have been with them numerous years and have even recommended them. I haven't had any billing problems. I recently had them help me set up an ecommerce site. They did what I couldn't do and more. They even showed me how to do it myself. Are there negatives? Maybe! I jsut haven't found them. |

I have been with doteasy for years. They are the only company I work with that keeps my credit card on file. I don't like it - but at the same time, I've never had a problem with them. Unfortunately, if you want to completely stop them from charging your credit card, you have only two options - give them someone else's credit card, (so fraud), or cancel your own card.
I just run a site with some flash on it, no PHP or Perl or anything, so it works great for me. I'm anxious about them charging my card if I dip over their traffic limit though... |
|
| Greg, 14th 2009 August, 2009 |
Fucking Run!!!!!
Don't Give these people your credit card!!!! They automatically bill credit cards. Their policy reads
"in the absence of cancellation notification from you. The service will be renewed for a successive term"
Your credit card company wont help you and doteasy won't either. So when your term ends make sure you cancel. |

We are a British based company and could only find 100% professionalism from Doteasy a company that resides in a different country. Doteasy have provided our Social Enterprise with care and efficiency.
Through no fault of our own monies were not placed into our account to pay for our domain the year 2007 and we had a press release throughout London the next morning. Naturally we panicked but Doteasy made sure our website was up and running before the publication came out 9am British time.
We would not dream to be with any other server. Organising Community projects can be tough and Doteasy make us feel that they are a part of our Social Enterprise team and not just a company that we pay to keep our site up and running. |

Another thing... Most of the positive reviews are fake... They are mostly foreign workers... Far eastern of some sort.. (no disrespect) BUT, they act like the guy at the cleaners, who does not speak good english, - just really look at the positive reviews... most are gramarrically(sp) incorrect... So do not get involved, tey act like it's all part of their policy to make things hard on you, waste your time, and try and solicite more money from you, all the while providing you with out service, transfers or honesty... BUYER BEWARE OF DOTEASY.

That's right all, I'm really pissed. |

WOW, They would not renew a domain name one of my customers had with them unless I transferred ownership to me, and paid with my card... what a bloddy mistake.. I tried to transfer out after renewing, then they said that I had to wait two months. So I waited four months. Tried to transfer to Godaddy and transfer failed. GoDaddy said tht the domain was locked, but once in doteasy control panel, it did not have anything other than a 25% off domain locking service. Wrote them, and they told me domain was not locked. It IS. Privacy NOT removed, transfer cannot be done. THey will do ANYTHNG to hold up a transfer, take your time and money until you give up. Their whole website and methods of doing business are designed to steer you away from what you want - to do what they want, and that is to drop more money with them. Now they are telling me that I must fill out a form to prevent scamming. I an listed as the admin/tech/billing contact... with my valid email as the contact, which they themselves have used. They are TOTAL SCAM ARTISTS. Nothing more. Basically, had to renew a domain name in March 09, told I couldn't transfer out for two months, made sure that provacy and domain was not locked,, when I tried today 27 Jul 09, the transfer failed even withthe EPP/Auth code. Godaddy said the domain was locked, and provacy was enabled. - Now they will not unlock, or remove privacy... I work with several other registrars, which they simply resell through TUCOWS.. which I am a reseller with, and never ever had any issues like this with TUCOWS, or GODADDY for that matter. Wehost over 350 websites, and handle over 500 domains, and this is the ONLY domain at doteasy, and GOD WILLING, it will be the absolute last, if we can ever get this domain transferred... spent countless hours trying to be reasonable with them, oh, they will be nice, but will throw up a few hundred hoops for you to jump through... FORGET THIS PLACE, SCAMMERS, NER DO WELLERS, PURVAYERS OF THE LAWLESS INTERNET LANDSCAPE... WILL RIP YOU OFF - AND MAKE YOU JUMP THROUGH HOOPS TO GET WHAT OTHER REGISTRARS WILL DO RIGHT AWAY, AND FOR FREE...
trIED TO CHAT THEM, WHAT A FREAKING WASTE OF MY TIME... SO FOR REAL, DON'T GET INVOLVED WITH THESE CROOKS. AND THAT IS BEING NICE.

You think doteasy cares about you as a customer? You might want to read this to the end.
I had been a loyal doteasy customer for about 9 years with 6+ domain names (and numerous referrals). Then one day one of my domain names expired and they sent me an email offering to renew service for the name. The email was presented in such a way leading me to believe it would buy back the name. The title of the email was the domain name and the amount they charged was the same as registering a domain with them (35$ USD). So I paid.
It turns out it was just to continue accessing my web site files on their server and the name was in fact expired. When you make a web site the files reside on the designer's computer. So this service was totally useless without the domain name!
Needless to say I wanted my money back. But they refused and kept saying it was against their policy. Even after trying to reason with a stubborn customer service rep on the phone, the only thing they offered was to give me an in house credit.
SO, I figured I have 35$ there, I might as well use it. So I went to register a new domain name and they refused to apply the credit to it. They said the credit could only be applied to an existing account. Which in this case is useless because the name has expired!
So again I emailed them attempting to reason with them about applying the 35$ credit to a new name and all I got was a BS email saying they can only apply it to an existing name, totally ignoring the outlined facts and ignoring the mention that I had numerous domain names with them (6) for about 9 years!
So after a long list of conversations and email exchanges, it is very clear that all doteasy want is to take your money, and they'll use devious ambiguous email offers to get to it. And as soon as they have your money, no matter how long you've been a customer, regardless of reason or circumstance and no matter how much you've given them, they just don't care. And to add insult to injury, they said that they've been very accomodating. What arroggance!
I pointed them out to a bad review on this site and they denied responsibility and gave me confidential information on the case to deny wrongdoing on their part. Very unprofessional!
I repeatedly gave them a chance to redeem themselves and in the end offered to not post this review by asking, once again, to refund my 35$ or apply it to a new domain name, and, yet again, promised them more business if they did. But they ignored my email. So the message is clear and it exactly proves my point.
They're penny pinching arrogant attitude is disgusting. They have no concept that good customer care brings more business.
You might think doteasy care about you as a customer, but when it really matters, and when it comes down to it, then, and mark my words, all they do is hide behind their "policy" regardless of circumstances and all you will get from them are politically correct BS emails to make their customer care look like something more than the useless garbage it really is.
I sound mad? damn right I am, they "stole" my money as well!
doteasy? NEVER AGAIN! BUYER BEWARE! |

It is pretty obvious someone from doteasy is writing some of these reviews. Why would someone lie about doteasy if they weren't having trouble? Makes no sense but when I see a bunch of people claim someone is lying then you know it's doteasy doing the writing.
I just signed up for a doteasy site and I can't get it to work. I sent an e-mail and was told I was wrong.
So far this is not looking good for me. I9 am frustrated and it's only been 3 days |

| I was very happy with dot easy web hosting service up until the time that I decided not to renew my hosting service. At which point they automaticly billed an old credit card they had on file. They also suspended my hosting service. Multiple letters and calls to my credit card company and doteasy still has not resolved this issue and unfortunately I am having to learn a $95.40 lesson. Apparently the contract I signed six years ago gave them permission to automaticaly renew my credit card. Forget getting intouch with any one in the billing department. |

| Doteasy has been rock solid for me for close to ten years now. I have 4 domains using free web hosting. All is great, prices are cheap. I recently had an issue with tech support, but it was finally resolved to my satisfaction after high tech came into the picture. I've never been billed for anything I didn't ask for. Some of these negative comments on here are hard to believe. It doesn't match my experiences. |

WORST FUCKING SERVICE EVER.
Don't EVER use this company to host your site or domain.
They have bullshit terms, and if you use a free hosting account like I did, and go over, let's say your traffic quota, you're hosed. I upgraded for a month to get my site back up and got charged for 6 months of it. BULL SHIT.
Then when I was finally ready to switch my domain over to a new hosting provider, I had to send what they call an "AuthCode."
HAHA, well.... right before that I checked my contact info to make sure it was correct, I DIDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING, but clicked save after viewing it. I went to send this AuthCode... guess what? 60 day waiting period since I apparently "updated contact information." WHAT THE FUCK!!
NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. THEY FUCKING SUCK. |

| I really like DOTEASY. I have had several domains registered with them and have recently moved a couple domains from another registrar that offered 'free' hosting but nickel-and-dimed me to death so I'd buy their paid hosting and still didn't offer decent free web building tools. DOTEASY may be a bit more expensive up front when registering a domain, but you pay a yearly fee and get your registration privacy at the same time. Plus you really do get FREE HOSTING with a lot of extras, and for a small operation like mine, the free hosting is more than I need in storage space and bandwith. So yes I am very pleased, and have been for several years. When I ask questions, customer service always is prompt to respond within 24 hours and gives competent and individual answers. I do recommend DOTEASY to others and invite everyone to really pay attention to the cost and services offered by competitors. Something that may seem good up front usually ends up costing more when all is said and done. And I find that most complainers and detractors either don't understand what they are shopping for or paying for when they grouse about services that turn out to be less than expected. So shop around carefully people, and pay only for what you need. DOTEASY has always performed well for a price I can live with, and believe me I have tried the other 'free' guys - with unsightly banners and ads - and won't go back! When DOTEASY says their hosting is free and banner free, it really is. And they do add a lot of basic extra stuff in with the free hosting, so you are not just sitting there with free nothing. Not everyone does it the same, but DOTEASY seems to offer a good service for your money. |

I've been on doteasy for 8 years now. I have 1 free site and two paid ones and I have nothing but great things to say about them. If you need help contacting them is fast. They respond within 24 hours usually less then that regardless of it if is a free account or a pay one.
The only downside is the free account doesn't use sql or php like some other free sites, but that's okay if you don't need those things. Besides their web tools will give you lots of those things anyway like blogs and forums for free. I recommend them to everyone looking for a nice AD-Free website. |

I've got 3 doteasy hosted domains 2 free and 1 ultra hosting which was just upgraded 2 days ago. I've been using them for many many years now and have never had a problem. The free service is a very basic one but its the best and most reliable basic service i've ever used and will take it over ones with more advanced features anyday. The only thing close to a problem ive had is some ftp time outs on the domain i upgraded which im presuming is due to a server change and it would take time for the dns and clists to update with th enew information thus causing the problem. I highly reccomend them both for the cost and reliability.
They have always been helpful and ahead of schedule from what i've seen as well.

the third domain i have hosted with them is for a client and not recreation thus will not be disclosed. |

I'm somewhat confused about the negative reviews of doteasy.com because I have been a member for nearly a year and a half and I have had no problem. go to my website:www.bridgeportword.com and see how wonderful the site and functions. However, I must say that I am about to sign up for two more domains so I went shopping around and frankly I find doteasy.com the best buy.
The only problem I have is that they say you get free domain. I didn't know that! How the hell does that work? Do I get one free since I have already signed up and about to sign up again? Please answer me, O.K. And another thing: what I don't like and I hope you have fixed this: when I registered at first and when I re-registered, it took longer than I thought in a technological society for me to get my registration through my e-mail. That's minor but I would like to know is it better? |
|
| thatsrich, 28th 2008 October, 2008 |
| Best host I have found. No question. It is basically free. Their cost for REGISTERING is only slightly higher than other registrars, but that is the only cost for a basic hosting account. They may try to upsell you to other features, but I have been with them since the 90s, and have never used any but the basic, and they don't seem to mind. I have put maybe 30 sites up on there over the years, and never encountered any kind of problem. No offense, but anyone knocking Doteasy just does not know what they are doing, or what they are talking about, or both. When I have had questions, they email back immediately, and they are very polite. They must be Canadian, they are so polite. I think they are in Canada. GO DOTEASY, long may they continue. |

don't take any of the positive responses seriously please, they have google alert on "doteasy" everytime someone leaves a negetive review they get an alert to come and try and undo the damage!
They are seriously criminal in their support which is basically 24hours before even acknowledging they even got your ticket! Then they can't help because supposedly it's always something you have done even though you didn't touch the website and the issues have come from jamming so many sites onto one server! They hold DNS for ransome and even if your nowhere near filling up your site they say you are over! Backup, don't even get me started on that feature, they never worked for me! If your serious please go to a company that have great reviews, nothing on the internet is positive about DOTEASY!
Emails are never reliable , when I hosted with them it got so bad I just used gmail account instead it was always reliable. Since changing it's been thoroughly reliable and guess what NO SPAM since moving my site!! When I was with DOTEASY they had me buy the extra spamfilter services and I had 50 or more spams aday before they added that option in only a few spams a week. Now I may get 2 a month with my new host. |

| Deceptive domain registration practices seem to be the hallmark of this company to keep its cashflow running. Having locked my domain name without my knowledge or permission, they notified me of its expiration late, then demanded that i pay $25 to renew in order to transfer/keep it to my new full service registrar (Dreamhost), threatening that other people would scoop it up at the end of the 40 day redemption period i was forced to endure without a website. If i was a lawyer, i would sue them big time... and surely win. Anyone else wanna go in on a class action lawsuit. I'm gathering evidence. |

| In recent months i was amazed to find that I had a new mail box in my doteasy account, all my precious contacts and of course personal saved mails were wiped out & or in a legal sense stolen from me. I wrote to doteasy asking for the contents of my e mail address and my personal mail to be returned to me, I was told by doteasy that they were sorry to hear that I had experienced the loss of all, they could do nothing to help me. The story In my mind is that If I pulled away your mail box from your house which I am renting to you,and dumped all your mail, and then i took your diary with all your friends address's in it and dumped it as well, how would you feel. Does this not constuitute breaking an entrance & OR ROBBING YOUR PRIVATE MAIL. It seems convienient that mail box theft should happen, at a time when I am confronting doteasy about the probability that they are affiliated to those who took my web site www.curranart.com, theres more than meets the eye here, they certainly do not have much thought for me after years of paying them money. |

Like Ellis below, I too asked for domain unlock and auth code, but the auth code never came, even if I requested it via the Domain control panel. Also, I was asked to fill in a form to be returned, but this didn't arrive either. To top it all, all support requests take 3 - 4 days to answer.
Both my domains are non-essential, so I will let them expire, as clearly Doteasy really can't be bothered to follow a simple instruction to unlock the domain and send an AUTH code.
My faith in Doteasy as a competent web host is NIL and was reinforced when I asked support to add an spf record to one of my domains, to which the answer came to contact my email host. SPF records are held in the Domain's DNS record, in this case, at Doteasy, but it seemed DE support haven't got a clue. |

Hello ellis,
May I ask why you are transfering your domain registration away from Doteasy? We value your feedback, and would like to know how we could improve our services.
You are welcome to transfer your domains as you wish. However, I feel it is important to advise you that once you transfer you domain to another registrar, you will no longer be eligable for our $0 Hosting. If this does not concern you, and you would still like to proceed, I would be happy to unlock your domain for you, and trigger your authorization code to be sent.
Please let us know how you would like to proceed.
Regards,
Jessica

| DotEasy is a great service provider. Thier site is intuitive and user friendly. Getting a domian is a simple process and the hosting is trouble free. The tools are useful on the control panel. It's free and reliable hosting. Customer service and Tech Support have been good to and have been prompt to resolve issues. |

| Paige Vieyra, 06th 2008 March, 2008 |
| The hosting is very limiting so a transfer for my client was necessary. This also meant transferring the domain. Despite following all their instructions for transfer and receiving two written confirmations, Doteasy has sat on the domain and has refused to release it. It's been ten days and counting. Finally I had to contact them by phone which was a long distance charge (no toll #) and was serviced by a support person who kept changing her story, was rude, and refused to pass me along to a supervisor or anyone else who could resolve the issue. Even more disgusting? The support person I had actually wrote a glowing review on another review site pretending to be a customer. That is sad. |

| John, 21st 2008 February, 2008 |
I've been hosting my website with Doteasy for about 5 yrs now but can honestly say that when my renewal comes up in 2 weeks I will NOT be staying with them. Over the last few months their online support service has gotten worse and worse! My site has been down so many times recently and is currently down 48hrs now without a single responce to the many emails i've sent. I live in Ireland and depend on online support rather than long distance phone calls and if this is becoming the norm now then its time to move. I have another website hosted with a small Irish company for 3 yrs and have no problems to date. Their hosting packages are 3 times as good as Doteasy so they will now have more business from me!
Unless Doteasy sort out their customer service then i'd recommend to stay clear of them! |

| I have been with Doteasy for over 6 years now. I am a webmaster for over 30 small business websites. I have always found Doteasy's hosting prices to be one of the best! That is why I recommend them to all my clients. I have found that there customer service department to always follow through and get to the bottom of any issues that I personally have encountered in a timely manner. I cannot speak for the other comments posted on this site. I can only speak of the professionalism that I have always experienced when dealing with Doteasy. I find Doteasy innovating web tools and ease of its Domain setups to be TOP NOTCH in helping my clients acheive their potential markets! I could not ask for a better company to back my name when I solicit a customer to use Doteasy as their hosting company! I would rate Doteasy a 5 out of 5. The world says you get what you pay for...... I have found out I get MUCH MORE from Doteasy that what they are too modest to advertise! |

My experience with Doteasy has been very rewarding. We had been having terrible troubles with email for about a week and felt it was the ISP. After several days and many hours on the phone to another country and far Eastern Canada they solved nothing, but caused one more problem without notifying us. They did correct some problem of their own without admitting it to us or returning a phone call. The problem they further caused was to prevent us from sending our Doteasy account email on their service. These big companies do not like competition! This greatly complicated our personal diagnosis. Since our Doteasy account was now involved, as well as our one with our short staffed ISP, I phoned Doteasy and within 5 minutes of starting the call Pam, in North American English had our problem corrected. That is what I call service.
Doteasy are very reasonably priced and very helpful. They have zero cost, totally banner free hosting ($0) with all the bells and whistles most of us will ever need. For a sample and more of how we appreciate them, see our website they host: http://www.drshenton.com/pb/wp_9de797c1/wp_9de797c1.html

| I've used Doteasy for more than five years and been quite satisfied with their service. When I've had the occasional glitch, their tech support has been prompt and knowledgeable (for the most part!). For instance, when they upgraded their e-mail interface recently, I had all sorts of sending and receiving problems. One by one, we worked them through. It didn't matter who was assisting, we were able to resolve the problems. I've never paid them a penny, but they continue to give competent, reliable service. |

Doteasy is excellent. I have been using them for about seven years, and I have six domains with them. As a web designer, I have had occasion to put dozens of people on their hosting plans.
It's free, for the basic plan, which is all many people need.
I have not seen ANY down time in those 7 years. I have had occasion to use their tech support, and it is always prompt and courteous.

| several months ago I moved several domains to Doteasy for hosting, all for free hosting except one main site which I wanted Ultra Hosting for. They have been nothing less than ideal for me. They delivered on their promise of free increased space upon registering sites for free hosting, even when registering my own sites for the upgrade program for me to benefit myself. I get fantastic support, by phone or by email but usually by email since I'm not in US/Canada. I had issues with my previous host and Doteasy were straight forward and clear and concise about how to handle the hosting changeover faultlessly. Also, because I'm previously had a company looking after my hosting and not doing it myself, I wasn't up to speed with how hosting actually 'worked' and Doteasy staff walked me through it all effortlessly, plus they've advised me since on the more hitech aspects of upgrading my main site by concisely describing technologies that were totally unknown to me so that i could easily understand them. I've been very impressed and have no real complaints other than sometimes it seems to take an hour or so for an email to get through the system into my inbox, but it's a negligible issue that I've only spotted 3 times in several months. I'm really pleased with my experience of Doteasy. |

I am going to echo some other comments here. I've been a customer for 3+ years for a personal site and have been very happy.
In the past few months (late 2007), I have noticed the amount of Spam in 3 of my email accounts go up 10 times. This is even on new email accounts that I set up where there is no possible way of a company knowing about it.
I believe that this is due to the company now trying to push their Spam service as a $7/month add on. No thanks. I'm now searching for a new provider. The spam is too much. |

The "Basenji Club of Canada" registered its domain name with DotEasy five years ago (and acqured free webhosting for the site for the same period of time). Any other domain registry rates which I investigated at the time did not come close.
When DotEasy recently sent a reminder that the domain name registry was up for renewal, their rates had not changed and the same webhosting was still in effect. The only problem I found is that the Candian/U.S. exchange rates had not changed on their website. It looked like the "Basenji Club of Canada" was going to have to pay $1.39CAN to the $1US, as we did in 2003. (The current exchange rate is wavering close to par, so you can see why I was concerned.)
I obviously wrote to DotEasy about this problem, and asked why the rate had not changed on their website to reflect current exchange rate conditions, and was given a very good and acceptable answer.......but they did suggest an easy way of legally getting around it (which had not occurred to me), on which I followed up. I do not think that there are many such companies like them who would spend the time and energy to determine the best path that a customer should follow.
The "Basenji Club of Canada", as well as my other websites for which I am the webmaster (all hosted by DotEasy), will be grateful that DotEasy has given us such assistance and provided a wonderful avenue to show our wares.
Thanks, DotEasy. |

Been with Doteasy for years. Works so far. EXCEPT today (10/25). I actually had to call them and they said they were being attacked, so email isn't working.
I've also noticed an increase in spam and wonder if it's because they're trying to sell spam protection and are letting more in. If so, I'll leave them. |

Doteasy Spam & Email Virus Protection?
Has anyone else noticed that ever since Doteasy has been trying to market this new email spam protection, that you have been receiving more and more Spam? I have and it looks pretty shady. I have all the sudden been bombarded with Spam on email accounts that never received Spam. Could it be that Doteasy is allowing SOME spam to get through in order to make 6.95 a month from us? Anyone else notice this happening to their web based email?

| I think Doteasy.com is GREAT. I have been a Doteasy.com customer for 8 years, and have 5 domains with them for non-profit organizations that I work with. Customer service, what few times I've needed to use it, has been prompt, polite, and accurate. One would be hard-pressed to find an ad-free, FREE web-hosting service with FREE web tools like hit counters, guest books, e-mail forms, etc. anywhere else...and they keep adding to the list of tools available. The fact that Doteasy has been around for a number of years already, and keeps improving, says something. However, if I had one complaint, it would be that e-mail addresses affiliated with domains are almost immediately attacked by spam, even if the address is never used in a "public" way or on a website, and then it costs $7.95/month if you want to use doteasy's spam filter...which is not the easiest to use and I feel is unreasonably expensive. I've gotten around it by having my doteasy domain e-mails set up to come through my e-mail client,, where my anti-spam software takes care of it. Overall, doteasy.com has been a reliable and good service, and I don't hesitate to recommend it to others |

The reason why other registrars are able to charge less for domain names is because:
1. they have chosen to lose money on the domain name in order to gain your business.
2. They are cutting corners on the other services they provide. (server stability, customer service).
for ".ca" domains in particular these are more expensive no matter where you buy from. |

I completely agree with Arron (below - 25th of June, 2007), the email services are just plain awful. After I happened upon his review I went over to Google Apps and I think doteasy+google apps is the perfect combination for free, basic hosting. Thanks for writing it up Arron!
Testimonial: I've had Doteasy for webhosting and email for a good 4 or 5 years and it fills my very basic hosting needs in that it's FREE POP mail and hosting, and I have low bandwidth needs. So I have to give it a positive rating for that.
HOWEVER - in those years I'd gotten used to being frustrated with my email service. There were long (sometimes 2 week) stretches where incoming emails would bounce for no reason, outgoing webmail would not go out (even though the webserver confirmed it as having been sent), and the only way I knew there was a problem was because the constant junk mail seemed to stop. The free email service does not include any spam blockers, and the tools you are given to block emails are clunky.
I will say that the support responded quickly when I went to open a ticket, but the problem wasn't fixed after a couple of days.
The webhosting was fine. My very basic site was up whenever I checked. I tried using a couple of the free basic webtools Doteasy offered, and they worked fine.
Bottom line: Free hosting is great - but stay away from the email service! |

I have to admit there is always something bad and good to say about hosting services. All in all I find doteasy to be a good service.

I am happy with them and their prices are fair. |

All in all i'd say doteasy is worth the money. I haven't really had too many problems but I wish they offered more (i'd pay more too) I'm looking for a bunch of specific features they dont offer:
- Multiple domains under one bandwidth/storage quota
- Access to sql database from outside source so i can link my sql with ms Word
- Multiple MySql users so I can set permissions.
I was about to switch to Lypha before reading some reviews here. but i haven't seen a single site reviewed on here that isn't praised by some and laid to waste by others.
Here's what i will say about doteasy, no real problems other than the mail servers. They suck (my oppinion) Very slow, unintelligent webmail, poor interface, the whole 9 yards.
But, and this is a big one, THAT'S Totally unimportant. I just switched over to Google Apps for your domain. (www.google.com/a/) and now doteasy's servers NEVER see my mail. After this experience the FIRST thing i would do with ANY domain and ANY host would be to set up Google's domain apps.
please respond if anyone know a good host for the above requirements
-Thanks |

| I have been trying to get Doteasy to release my domain to my new registrar which they have now held up for over ten days. My website is now down and I have had to contact them numerous times. They are now stating it may be another five days and as they are not open over the weekend, this translates in reality to seven days! I transferred another domain name at the same time from another provider and the process took four days and was completely painless. I cannot urge people strongly enough to keep away from Doteasy. |

| Doteasy hit me for an additional $110.16 over and above the $32.45 that they charge me for the domain name that I chose for the one year period. The $110.16 is supposed to be for web hosting wwhich does me no good considering that I have no website, only email. This service wasn't selected at the time of purchase and now I can't even get a responce from anyone on my case numbers. A support number would be nice! |
|
| KingKoopa, 27th 2007 February, 2007 |
prowsej,
The $50.00 .ca 1-year registration is misleading to you because it's in Canadian currency. It's actually US $25.00 - EXACTLY what they advertise on their webpage.
But if you register for more years you can save money - as low as $18/year!
Doteasy DOES give cash/credit card refunds. Please don't lie. |
|
| KingKoopa, 27th 2007 February, 2007 |
Linda,
By default, Doteasy will auto-renew hosting in the interests of making sure that your service will not be disrupted.
I mean, if they didn't charge you and you lost a bunch of business because of it, you'd be even more angry, right? So you can't win either way.
BUT - you can turn off auto-renewal by contacting them (super easy) or changing the credit card number they have on file through your member zone so they can't bill you! (also super easy to do).
Plus why didn't you get a refund form within 15 days????
So please give it a rest. You're not a victim here, just a very inattentive consumer. |
|
| KingKoopa, 27th 2007 February, 2007 |
LS, your review is not very objective.
The reason why you were charged US $125.00 per domain was almost certainly because you let your domain names expire and slip into their redemption period. Doteasy has no control over the extra $100.00 that the CENTRAL REGISTRY requires to redeem your domain name.
If anything this sounds like YOUR problem, because YOU were extremely negligent in renewing your domain names. |
|
| Robert, 21st 2007 February, 2007 |
I totally understand where Lsmith is coming from. I was shocked, too, when I saw the "exchange rate" note on Doteasy's signup page. Apparently, if you are in the US and you want to use your AMEX, your prices will be subject to Doteasy exchange rate. This is actually an AMEX policy, I've had same experiences with other Canadian merchants. And, there is also the note that since Doteasy's prices are quoted in USD, if you're in Canada and want to pay in CAD, your prices will also be subject to their exchange rate.
Because Doteasy did provide these warnings on all their payment pages (or else I wouldn't know to use my Visa for my Doteasy hosting payments), I disagree that they are 'tricking' clients with their exchange rates. As a merchant, when you receive a chargeback request, your first course of action will be to halt all activities on the account for investigation. That's just common sense. Do know that each time your bank sends a chargeback request to a merchant, there is an extortionate 'service fee' imposed by the banks. So, if Doteasy's asking for $25 bank fee, consider yourself lucky. I've had to pay way more with my previous host. Something I've learned - if I see something on my credit card statement I don't recognize, contact the merchant directly first. Once banks are involved, you'll have to pay the price. |
|
| Ken, 13th 2007 February, 2007 |
This is what I found in Doteasy Terms and Conditions.
"Billing inquiries and disputes should be brought to Doteasy attention within 30 days of the invoice date. Failure to do so will be deemed to be an admission that invoice and charges are accurate.
If chargeback or charge dispute notices are received for your account(s), any Services provided to you may be immediately suspended pending investigation and are subject to chargeback service charges."
I think it is fair enough as they had already stated that in the Terms and Conditions. Some people just don't read anything and without contacting the Support for more information. |

| This is the worst experience I have ever had on the web. Our 501C3 NON-PROFIT CHARITY was ripped off by these animals.$466. because of a dispute over the exchange rate which they trick you into. I asked for a dipute, And we were correct, our bank recharged the correct amounts to them . Then they locked our accounts and would not turn them back on unless we were to pay an extra $125 re-activation fee plus a $25 bank fee for each of our three accounts. Extortionist. I hope I can get the word out. They never returned our money and we did not have the extra $200 to get things reactivated...So they have our money, and we have Nothing. Thanks dotsleazy ! |

They will not let you change your user name, they have no possible way of doing this. Someone else set up the web site that I now manage and I'm stuck using his user name.
They will not provide refunds at all - only credit. No matter what. |

Doteasy finally has phone support (604) 434-4307
I think this will just make their support so much better, rather than waiting 24 hours for a reply to an email. |
|
| Linda, 13th 2007 January, 2007 |
| Keep as far away as you can. They just renewed my site without my permission and I don't have access to it. They change details to their contracts as they wish. Charge when they shouldn't charge. They pretend to have many workers and when you tell them you don't want to renew they keep asking you again and again. Related to in2net.net and dollarhost.com. Be careful |

It is no wonder doteasy doesn't have a telephone number...they're hiding! After years of rotten service my organization is giving up on them...Problem is that over a week's worth of effort has not gotten them to take down our existing websites so that we can post new ones via a different provider...and we own the domain names!
Be warned one and all...STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE! You will spare yourself a terrible time and an exercise in frustration. I feel like I've been dealing with the MacKenzie brothers - HOSERS! |
|
| James, 10th 2007 January, 2007 |
These guys are flying dickheads. Unbelievably
bad service and NO WAY TO CONTACT THEM.
It's hard for something that's free to be a poor
value, but that's what this is.

For Doteasy.com read Fiddler's Elbow Hosting - 'cause its up and down like one, time to find a reliable host. I'm told they do exist!
Doteasy can't decide if this weekend's problems are because of hardware failure or planned maintenance... give me strength!!! |

|
| Roy, 29th 2006 October, 2006 |
| You will be lucky of you get half of your email. Blocks email from yahoo.groups. Sites are down days at a time. No customer service unless you like resolutions 5 days after the fact. And this is for an ultra account! Used to be good. But now stay away |
|
| Tim Claason, 23rd 2006 October, 2006 |
I've used Doteasy for over 4 years now. As my needs grew, and the abundance of cheap web hosting was pleantiful, I gradually moved my domains away from them.
If you want PHP, mySQL, or other scripting/database, Doteasy is not a great choice. On the other hand, if you want a cheap host/domain provider with very little setup, Doteasy may be for you.
For years, they didn't have a SMTP server for you to use. Their uptime was definitely less than 99.6% or whatever they promise.
Their tech support is not good. It typically takes between 18 and 26 hours for them to respond, via e-mail...last I checked, they don't really offer over-the-phone support.
Bottom line: For about $3 or $4 more per year, I can definitely beat the value, and if I was really frugal, I could probably cut it in half, and still have PHP and mySQL. |

| The submit email forms (web tools for members of doteasy) are not working for the last two days, and I'm losing business. I wonder how doteasy has 120,000 customers! |

| I guess it doesn't really make sense me adding to the complaints and stating that doteasy is even more ridiculous than they say. Their service is horendously poor. I don't understand how companies like this are able to continue to do business in such a competitive industry. |
|
| Arvind Chauhan, 11th 2006 October, 2006 |
| I have taken unlimited 20 GB hosting form doteasy two months ago. Their web tools, etc. are very good, and they've always responded well (within 48 hours) to my queries. The only problem is that 1 out of 100 times my site doesn't open - sometimes for several minutes. But I guess that is ok, as long as it doesn't increase in frequency! |

| We've been back up for a while. If you are running outlook or outlook express you may have to restart it to get your send/receive going again. If you want a customer service number, feel free to pay a couple hundred dollars a year more somewhere else. Problem is, that all you are paying for is a sounding board for your frustrations as they always are aware of the problem and doing what they can to fix it. A customer service number wouldn't be much help. |

They need to have a better relationship with their upstream provider. Doteasy is being DOSed.
The reason you can still access the hosted websites as opposed to e-mail is because the websites are for the most part hosted at in2net. (traceroute it yourself and see). I've been having second thoughts about Doteasy for awhile now and this tears it, I'm looking elsewhere.

| I have several sites with Doteasy & have for several years. In the 5 years I have had accounts with them I have had only had a handful of tech issues. As with ANY hosting service you will have some downtime at some point. It is to be expected......Customer service has ALWAYS been reasonable - - - within 24 hours just like they say. The only thing I don't like is the Email Options & Hosting Options run together...... if your payment fails when renewing an Email Option they take your entire site....... that I didn't like. They should be separate. But it got resolved quickly so I am still happy. So besides that and the fact that they should have a PHONE CUSTOMER SUPPORT - I love the company & my 33 clients love them too. THANK YOU!! |
|
| dotsleazy, 06th 2006 September, 2006 |
| The site is up but my email is toast. I haven't received an email in 24 hours! All emails sent to my account get returned to the sender. That is totally unacceptable and costing me my business. I'm considering building a class action suite and am interested if other people feel the same. |

| I am done with doteasy. I am moving my domains to afmu.com which has basically the same deal, just with better stuff and much quicker support so far. |
|
| Gary, 05th 2006 September, 2006 |
| Our email has been down most of today, 9-5-06. No reply from them as to what the problem is. We have their Ultra Hosting package. You would think they would provide a phone number for tech. support so we wouldn't have to wait hours or days for email support. |
|
| Landon, 04th 2006 September, 2006 |
| I've been having troubles with them for awhile now, sites going down and not sending/receiving emails. I'm currently transfering my domain to somewhere else. They don't have a phone contact to tech support or any support for that matter. You have to send an e-mail and they will reply to you within '24 hours'--which it took 2 days to get a reply to my question. I wouldn't go back to doteasy, ever. |

| Doteasy, 26th 2006 August, 2006 |
Dear Customer,
Thank you for your problem report. In the past 24 hours we had
experienced network problems due to a recent network upgrade we had
begun on Aug 24, 2006.
The network problems affected some clients access to POP email and/or
website access.
As of 6:00pm Pacific Time Aug 25, 2006 we believe that all related
problems have been resolved. Please test your service functionality
once again and notify us if you continue to experience problems with
your services.
Any emails not delivered to your accounts during this time should be
re-delivered to your accounts over the next several hours.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

| Just spoke with a real person and he said this is a very complex problem, but they plan to get it fixed today. |
|
| Dana, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
Betty,
I just spoke with Bluehost, which is going to replace Doteasy for us, and they said that we set up the e-mail with both places until the change fully takes place. She said it takes a little over 24 hours to make the switch. My VOIP went out at that moment, having problems with that lately, too! I think it's also Time Warner's problem, but they keep saying it's SunRocket....ugh! |
|
| Jim, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
Ohio here. Time Warner.
Looks like the traceroute terminates somewhere in Seattle Washington. |
|
| Betty, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| I'm from upstate New York and can't access my website or my email. We are thinking of switching hosts. Does anybody know what would happen to email sent but not received if we were to switch before doteasy comes back on line? |
|
| Joe, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| Add Michigan in. I've got about 24 sites down. Trace ends at same place. TW RoadRunner is my connection. |
|
| Scott, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| It seems like everyone with a problem here is from TX except for me (FL) and one guy from England. Everyone's trace is ending at the exact same address, though. I just spoke with the company and of course, they have no clue when it will be resolved. |
|
| Becky, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
Sent my trace. I'm in Texas. It terminates:

| Happy 6th Birthday doteasy!! Thanks for the present! |
|
| Jim, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| WTF? They definately are losing my future business as soon as they come back up. |
|
| Lee, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| They told me they did some network changes last night that led to the problem. They really need to roll back those changes, if possbile. |
|
| Jim, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| What a bunch of crap. I remember some time ago something similar to this happening with GoDaddy. |
|
| Lee, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| I hope this gets resolved soon. Last night I was trying to up load my updated and website (www.securityalpha.com) and network security podcast when I couldn't get an ftp connection. I am "between jobs" right now and my doteasy account is the one I use for my resumes. I guess I need to change to my gmail account from now on. |
|
| Tony, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| Just a thought - these people who can access doteasy, are they viewing cached data? Try pressing Ctrl + F5 then try again... |
|
| Scott, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| For what it's worth, my brother is in CA, he uses Adelphia, and he can access Doteasy's site. |
|
| Lee, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
We have been working with them on and off. The problem primarily seems to be people using Time Warner, Comcast or Adelphia cable connections to the internet. You can send emails to destaff@gmail.com. If you know how to send them a trace route, do so.
If not, read down this list for instructions in an early posting. |

|
| Becky, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| I have three websites hosted with Doteasy. They are all down. I also cannot access doteasy.com to request support. If anyone has a way to contact them I'd really appreciate knowing what it is. |
|
| Tony, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| Mark - tried to access CrashSite but cant. Your comment prompted me to check my stats and I've apparently had hits this afternoon from the USA on SuffolkBasketball.net but I'm not sure if I trust the timestamps, an upload I carried out last night is showing as this afternoon... |
|
| Mark, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| Tony, see if you can access this doteasy hosted website: www.crashsite.org I checked my statcounter and it looks like people have been visiting it this morning from the UK, Asia and parts of the US. Let me know. thanks... |
|
| Jack, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| Well it seems that through ingenuity borne out of frustration we seem to be getting our message and information to Doteasy. Let's see if they can respond with positive results |
|
| Tony, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| 30 straight "request timed out" responses from my tracert through British Telecom here in the UK |
|

Thanks everyone.
forward trace routes to destaff@gmail.com. If you don't have email. post them here or send them to me and I will forward them on.

| Okay folks, here is the scoop so far. I called the dollarhost number and they said that the problem is apparenly only with certain ISPs including some in California. They can't see www.vistainter.com either, so this may be a Canadian problem. When I was talking to Time Ware, their rep was also in Canada and couldn't bring up vistainter either. I am waiting for them to send me some email to my gmail account and I will send them some trace logs and the posts from this site. If anyone wants to help go to a command line on windows and type tracert www.doteasy.com and send the results to me. If you need help to cut and paste from a command line window, let me know. Send the emails to me at l.schex@gmail.com. |
|
| Jack, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
Let's review
We cannot access anything related to doteasy.com - our own sites and corporate relatives of Doteasy
We cannot access our mail records on doteasy.com POP serverfor download to our Email Client
It is reported that others can access our sites and perhaps the POP server from other locations
which may be using different ISPs
Most of us seem to be TW/COMCAST ISP customers.
I have sent Emails from my RR SMTP Server to my Doteasy Server
As yet they do not seem to have been "bounced" which leads me to be believe my mail box may be filling up.
The last good point on traces from many destinations is
ge-1-1.r00.sttlwa01.us.ce.gin.ntt.net [198.104.203.186]
We have discovered the possibility that our dynamic / static IPs from our ISP may be
specifically or range blacklisted on some lists
I will fax this to Doteasy with a recap of the conversations on this site which has become the
emergency rallying point for unhappy customers

| How funny. I just got an e-mail from doteasy telling me that they know of the problems we have been having and want feedback. They want us to use their online support though. Kinda hard to do when you can't get to their site. |

| A little wider than the US I'm affraid - I'm in the UK and can't get to web sites or e-mail |
|
| Scott, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| Spoke with a person there who had me email my results from a trace. He's supposed to call me back. They're aware of the problem and think it's mostly a U.S. issue, although my friend who can view my site is living in the U.S. |
|
| Alan, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| The problems may in be with your internet provider. If you go to http://www.mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx and put in your IP address you can see if your IP is blacklisted or not. I checked and my IP address is blacklisted. Many hosts implement security features that weed out spammers and because of this if your provider has not configured your IP address properly it has potential to get blacklisted. If it does and your host (or any host) implements these security features as I think Doteasy is doing you will be blocked from using e-mail and surfing websites on their servers. I've had to deal with this problem before with another host and a different internet provider. The problem now is I wish I could call and actually get through and talk with someone at Doteasy to confirm this. Obviously since I can't view their website I can't use their online support. |
|
| Lee, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| I got to talk to a human. He said they are aware of the problem with doteasy, but he didn't know what was wrong. Of course, he said put in help ticket, but I told him I can't reach the web site. He said be patient. |
|
| Dana, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| Their office is now open (604) 608.6868, but operators are "helping other customers" and we have to just leave a message. They are also called dollarhost, which of course is also down. I would guess that they know there is a problem, but it would be nice if we knew how long it will be until its back to normal. At least our sites are still up and running and hopefully our customers think that business is as usual. |
|
| Scott, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| Thanks Dana, this is very frustrating (and odd). |
|
| Dana, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| My husband said their chat service is offline (will probably be online in an hour when their office opens) , but he's sending a service ticket and will try later. |
|
| Lee, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| This sounds like they are under a Denial of Service attack (DOS). I can resovle the name to an IP address, but can't ping it. Tracert dies trying to reach them. If this is the problem, then it could be a long wait to get it resolved. |
|
| Dana, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| We'll try...I'll let you know what we find out. |

Last night I started to look for a new home for my 3 websites currently hosted by DotEasy. I am looking at Bluehost simply by it's popularity but I am also looking into HostMySite. They had down time just recently and this is how THEY handled and communicated it. Granted I'm assuming members could access the company's website during the outage. Check this out...

| Dana, can your husband use the chat service on Doteasy's site to inform them of the problem? |
|
| Dana, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| Thanks for the info Trev...I fear viruses, but am stuck with Microsoft! I found another number. It has the same physical address as Doteasy, calls itself a different name, but they will probably be able to help. They do not open until 10:00 am Pacific time, but the number is (604) 608-6868. |

| Dana is right. My friend can access my site fine. Must be something with DNS, I guess. The question is how long unti it's resolved? |
|
| Lee, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| Something strange must be going on. When I created a new site about a month ago, people at my old employer couldn't resolve the name, but I could at home. This may be a DNS-name resolution issue. If someone can get me the city they are in and the corporate name, I will try to call their main office. |
|
| Dana, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| This is really weird...doteasy is up and running on other computers. My husband just checked our mail and website from his work and he said everything is working fine. Does that mean that we could possibly have a virus or something? We cannot even go to the doteasy website from our home computer. |
|
| Trev, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
It's my fault... I've had a domain parked with them for years now and just used the email service... now I'm ready to upload my website. I'm cursed I tell you! ;)
Seems like a serious problem though. Surely they won't have gone broke... has to be hardware. |

| Still down as of 7:47 Central. I am also looking for work and my Email is thru Doteasy - |
|
| Lee, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| Down again. It went down again at midnight Central time and as far as I can tell has not come back up as of 7 a.m. Central time. This is really bad. I am an out of work IT person and my email on my resumes is through doteasy. |
|
| Mark, 25th 2006 August, 2006 |
| Ok they are down again. This is the second time today and it has been going on for another 2+ hours! I'm taking my business elsewhere... |
|

| What's going on with DotEasy? Are they coming back online? |
|
| Mark, 24th 2006 August, 2006 |
| Lately I've become very worried about hosting my site with them. After using them for about 5 years they seem to be having more and more downtimes. Today for around 2+ hours my site (and of course email) was down. Even the DotEasy site was down. I did a search for sites hosted by them and they were all down. COME ON! It drives me crazy and I am NOT using their free service (which shouldn't make a difference), I am paying for their Ultra hosting to run my business on their servers. In fact that is why I am here to find a new hosting company... |
|
| Meshaal, 24th 2006 August, 2006 |
I'm a customer for almost 5 years, the free hosting as a cost is good but as realibilty it is crap .. for example the server for the web and POP3 is down right now while i'm writing this review.
Their feedback can reach you fast but in many times they take up to 24 hours and if it is a weekend then it is 48 hours.
Their major drawback is the outgoing pop3 port 25 which is unsecure and because of that you won't be able to send emails from POP3.
As a temp space for cheap hosting it is good .. but for a true website find a better hosting .. i tried their advance hosting for 3 months and didn't notice anything wrong.
Any how .. i'm still thinking of wether taking the risk for a PHP hosting with them or shall i take the risk with another company.
every company has its disadvantages.
|
|
| Lee, 24th 2006 August, 2006 |
| Doteasy main site and my web sites are still down at 5:04 p.m. Central time. I have been having some trouble with getting email and others getting a bounce when trying to reach me. Up until recently, I have never problems with the company. |
|
| Shane, 24th 2006 August, 2006 |
I have them for over 20 FREE sites. I have never had a problem. They always get back to me within an hour or two.
Very good. However, I would like to know more about this credit card thing. |
|

| Excellent - good customer service |
|
| Jack, 14th 2006 July, 2006 |
| I am considering moving my domain from Doteasy. They have had more downtime than is acceptable to me and today, both our email accounts are inactive. No email coming in and no one to ask about it. |
|
| Donald, 15th 2006 June, 2006 |
| I've been pleased with doteasy. I started using them 5 years ago and have added 7 more domians with hosting for a total of 8. I've had good response from tech support. |
|
| Daniel, 29th 2006 May, 2006 |
| stay away form Doteasy: they employ negative billing, signing you up for services that are initially free but then they satrt charging you if you don't keep on top of their notices. Extremely hard ot get in touch with them, they have NO SUPPORT PHONE NUMBER. Extremely difficult to close accounts or move hosting elsewhere. |
|
| Ami, 17th 2006 April, 2006 |
| I have also been burned by Doteasy. They stole money from my debit card with an unauthorized upgrade. They don't even have a customer service telephone number, and they wouldn't resolve my issue. My advice: avoid doing business with Doteasy. |
|
| L.T., 30th 2006 March, 2006 |
Please be warned that Doteasy engages in illegal and unfair business practices. Because they are based in Canada, it is very hard for U.S. customers to get justice.
The biggest scam that Doteasy engages in is automatically enrolling its users in a $95 upgrade. You find out that you have been "upgraded" when the charge appears on your credit card, and you can't stop the upgrade or get your money back. |
|
| Lup, 27th 2006 March, 2006 |
| A lot of junk mail for the free hosting service. Hotmail, Yahoo, and some other email services have identified Doteasy' IP as junk mail so you won't be able to use the web mail to send to those accounts. |
|
| dave sux, 17th 2006 March, 2006 |

I have problem uploading my files during the President's Day, then I tried to contact doteasy by email and I have left them a number for call back. I thought they closed but one of the customer reps, "Minnie" called me and helped me to publish my web site. She really did help me through! Thank you doteasy.
|
|
| Rob, 22nd 2006 February, 2006 |
| David, your review is not very subjective. I have 12 websites hosted with Doteasy, and never had a problem in 6 years. I've contacted Support a few times, and they ALWAYS reply within 24 hours. And what exactly do you want with a FREE account? Tea with 3 sugars and cake? GET REAL! Its free. And what other hosting company offers everything Doteasy has and more FOR FREE? Tell me, I'd love to know. |

| I would stay away from doteasy at all costs. The so called "free" thing is totally horrible especially if anything ever goes wrong or you need help. Go try their chat... it'll act like you're in line but most of the time after a minute or so it will say "not available" Trouble tickets come with the message:"we will try to contact you in 24 hours" that's about as good as it gets...somebody is supposedly trying to respond. Clunky admin, poor service, "free" account allows no php scripting so very restricted... many other services are better. STAY AWAY. I'll push the envelope here & see if I can make this post... this host www.bluehost.com is excellent. Tech support will answer the phone 24/7 !! I don't work for them. It's real. Only downside.. gotta pay a year in advance. |
