I've had these folks host a number of my web sites pretty much since their inception over 5 years ago. Up until these past 6 months, they have been fantastic. But, as of late, I'm getting outages that take down their entire site. You can't even pull up their own home page. So, all of my emails, personal sites, business sites, and client sites are down with no explanations and no contact capabilities. I'm not sure what has happened with this company, but I'm not very impressed right now.
When they are working, they have, what I believe to be, the best on-line tools, capabilities, etc. When they go down, its a black hole. |

| Update. It has been over 7 hours and ALL OF MY CLIENTS SITES ARE STILL DOWN!!!!! What the **%. They say that they have a 99.9% up time, I just did the math, if they miss 14 days they are down to a 95% up time, and I know that the site has been down for at least a total of 14 days in one year! Crap Company!!! |

| I was looking for a company that had free MySQL's This way I could set up a few of my clients and use easycgi for all of my database needs. I even set up one of my clients up with the osComm.. Shopping Cart. Everything looked good at first, but then the problems hit... The site has been down 4 times in the last 2 mths that I know of, the customer is wanting to know why... I have no answer, EasyCgi's home page won't even load. Bottom line... Junk, STAY AWAY... They should change the guarantee to 99% down time. Now I have to pull all of my domains, databases, and shopping carts. This could take days and $$$ to make this big move, but I have to...or I will loose all of my clients. I wish I would have seen this site before I signed up with them... |

| Signed up for VPS, server went inaccessible about an hour after I started setting up my site and couldn't even be restarted from the control panel. About 14 hours after submitting support ticket, I got a "sorry for the delay -- we're working on it" response. Waited 4 more hours, nothing, so I just sent them a "cancel" request. Since I'm supporting hundreds of online merchants, I can't even THINK about putting my sites on a such a poorly supported service. Wish I had read this page before signing up. |

| I must admit I've been using this host for the past 4 years and they seemed ok in the beginning. This past year has been nothing but outages and extremely poor customer service. This is exactly in line with what everyone else has mentioned. Bottome line: STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOST |

Periodic? Uh huh. BTW, these notices are of little use when customers' e-mail and webmail is offline. Whatever, at least they haven't gone out of business...yet.
We are currently experiencing intermittent network connectivity issues, in which large DNS servers (Yahoo, AOL, Verizon) are periodically unable to resolve domains on our network. We are working directly with CISCO to identify and resolve this issue as soon as possible. System status will be updated when further information becomes available or when the issue has been resolved. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you and appreciate your continued patience. |

4pm?!? I DON"T THINK SO! Try 12:45AM Eastern.
At approximately 3:20pm EST today (10/17/2007), we experienced an internal network hardware malfunction. While EasyCGI is fully redundant, this malfunction caused routing problems that resulted in temporary downtime for certain pieces of our network. Because of this downtime you will have experienced slow response times or random inability to utilize services provided by EasyCGI. EasyCGI was immediately aware of this issue and was working to restore services. Service for most customers was completely restored by 4:00pm EST, while a small portion of customers experienced problems until 4:29pm EST. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and thank you for your patience. |

Another dissatisfied customer.
I must admit that my "two week" timetable last June (see below) was extended a bit... like to the end of this month. We do have all hardware, software and labor in place for the in-house mail server (which we're doing in concert with switching hosts), but my bad for letting this fester so long.
That said, EasyCGI has blown it again. No e-mail, no websites, their website is down, their toll-free number is knocked out - I was lucky just to get through once to leave a worthless voice message.
Right now I have angry clients, angry co-workers, and a mess of work for the morning including the public unveiling of a new website. Great, huh? This is my fault for not acting faster, but it shouldn't be this way to begin with.
Each time this happens I can't help but fear, as Fred Sanford would say, that "this is the big one" and they're never coming back online. |

More downtime:
Over the past few months, there have been a number of outages (including the one which occurred of 6/8/07 mentioned by another reviewer).
It is 10/17/07 and both of my websites hosted on easycgi.com have been down for the past few hours. Their home page is down also, which means users can not create a "trouble ticket".
I sent them an e-mail earlier in the evening, but have received no reply.
I tried calling the 866 number listed next to the review and got an operator saying "All of the circuits are busy. Please try again later."
Other downtimes include:
Aug 2007: overall slowness (may be due to too many databases on their servers, as another reviewer mentioned, but I'm unable to verify)
Aug 2007: complained to me that someone complained to them that my newsletter was spam, yet easycgi routinely lets 20-30 spam messages A DAY through their "filters".
July 2007: intermittent slowness and "problem loading pages" error.
July 10, 2007: site down for over 4 hours for an unknown reason
6/8/07: sites down, received an e-mail later (after I complained) about how they were experiencing trouble with their upstream provider.
April 2007: intermittent "problem loading page" errors
I could go back further, but you probably get the point- about once a month or so, the sites suffer some kind of downtime.
Are these downtimes enough to break their "99% uptime guarantee" (or however they word it)? Maybe not, but having an e-commerce site down for hours on end can hurt a business.

Just impossible to depend on their services. We had a VPS service for 8 months and after a series of, often, outrages which usually lasted from 30 minutes to half a day our server was down for 3 days and could not get the service back up. This occurred between 07/25/2007 to 07/28/2007. Luckily we moved to another company on the first day and to a fully dedicated server.
We only used their VPS as a mirror and backup to our in house Email Server but several times it crippled our operation and our company don't have more than 40 email accounts on the email server and our average monthly bandwidth use was only 1.5GB.
During these 3 days period even their main web site was out of commission in several occasions. Support was out of question because they would not consider the tickets you opened probably because they could not keep up with the amount of complains coming in. Phone support told me a tale and the server would be up in no more than 15 minutes and this was on the first day.
So, if you need your web site up and running, reliable service and peace of mind just don't consider easycgi. Try any other service that a friend may have had a good experience. Don't trust the number of stars this site here gives to easycgi because it is certainly not true. |

Here is what easyCGI had to say about their latest outage.
I guess that this could be a Positive or Negative on how you look at it. Our staff would have preferred to know this a lot sooner than 4 days after the fact.
On Friday, 06/08/07 at 11:15am EST we experienced a very large Distributed Denial of Service attack (DDoS). Our network engineers immediately responded to this and began taking steps to mitigate it\'s effects and had the problem completely resolved by 12:40pm EST. The total amount of time Easy CGI was affected by this attack was 85 minutes. During this time you may have experienced an intermittent connection or no connection at all to our network.
While Easy CGI normally sustains many Internet and DDOS attacks without affecting customers, unfortunately this attack was successful in compromising core equipment. In working with Cisco, we discovered that this attack was exploiting a recently discovered Cisco vulnerability. At this point we immediately blocked access to this from the outside and executed an emergency upgrade of the Cisco IOS.
We strive to provide the highest uptime possible and we are proud that we are able to do so almost all of the time. We feel terrible that this downtime lasted as long as it did. However, we did handle this issue extremely efficiently compared to some other providers that underwent the same attack on Friday.
There were other hosting companies whose customers experienced up to 7 hours of downtime due to the same attack. We are confident in and stand by our actions that greatly reduced the amount of downtime for our customers, in comparison. We apologize for the inconvenience this had caused and thank you for your patience and continued business.

I have been with Easy CGI for over 4 years. I have 6 sites hosted for work and a couple personally, plus about 30 domains, easily spending $1,500 annually. Their tech support was always competent but unfriendly, but up until the past 6-8 months they were rarely in need. Recently however, Easy CGI has gone IN THE TOILET. We began getting quarter-day outages on a monthly basis, then every two weeks, and now this week we've been down for a period almost every single day. Sometimes the issue is "just" our e-mail, other times it's our entire website. I have other Easy CGI websites that stay live at times, on other occasions all sites - including easycgi.com - are completely down. Support is nearly impossible to reach, and the problems are somehow *never* their fault. Plans are in the works to be gone, gone, gone in 2 weeks and have all domains and accounts transfered by the end of June. THE EASY CGI SHIP IS SINKING FAST - GET OFF NOW!!!

| Too much of a down time. Even if it is for a short period of time, but often. I am running e-commerce and sometimes the site goes down while my customers process their orders - NOT COOL! No real customer support either - answering machine and take forewer to return calls. Their servers are not good - the representative gave me the explanation why my site is down - "Your site is on a server that CONSTANTLY gives problems. We are working on it" How about REPLACING the server that CONSTANTLY goes down ???!!! I am definately going somewhere else. |

| Gregory Grigoriou, 22nd 2007f April, 2007 |
Forget about easyCGI. they are NOT easy at all. they are in fact the worst host i have ever had, and i have some sort of MAJOR issue with them once per month.
they do not return calls promptly, they are down far too often, and if your site is remotely important to you, put it in better hands than EasyCGI. i would only recommend easyCGI to my competitors.
I am in fact leaving them this week, having had NO access to my email and ftp for almost 3 days straight.
In fact, even portions of their own site appear to be down at the very time i am writing this. |
|
| Chris, 11th 2007f April, 2007 |
| I transfered to Easy-CGI from WebHost4Life. Their service was terrible from the get go, but their network did really well. Their network has dropped 2 times in the past month, and services have locked up 3 times. We are now transferring to our own dedicated server. DO NOT use them if your websites are critial to remain up. 99% is not true in our mind. |

| Too much downtime; site has been down for 2-4 hrs at a time for 3 times withing last one week!! Unacceptable... |
|
| RJ, 10th 2007f April, 2007 |
I must said that even the prices are "OK", the technology doesn't seems to be so good! I have experience downtime (that is not acceptable for my clients) and even my internet connection is good, the connections through FTP with all my sites under this hosting is so slow and usually crash down.
It's just a good price from my point of view. |
|
| Aris, 27th 2007f March, 2007 |
Well answer machine rule, also I have problems and wait many hours for some one answer to my tickers.
And the documentation to setup the vpn is poor and this is result to need a little help from them, that I can not find.
In general the speed is good, the programs is good, the price is good.
But no real fast support. The fast one is the salesmen. |
