Web Hosting Reviews and Ratings

Site advertised a 30 day money back guarantee on web hosting with they didn't honor for me because I was an existing customer ( I paid them 11 / year for domain parking)
Unhappy customer, 21st 2011 February, 2011
Since their new ownership, they have rerouted two very valuable domain names, removed them from my control panel, strung me along, and basically stole them or let them get stolen, lied to me, repeatedly. I am presently in the process of filing complaints everywhere and suing them.
BB, 10th 2011 February, 2011
They raise their rates without warning this year. They will not honor the rate from Webstrike who they bought out a few years back. Cancelled. I am tired of companies buying out others and then jacking with the prices. It is unacceptable.
Simon, 21st 2010 October, 2010
It took me 9 days to get EasyCGI (partnered with SRSPlus) to finally unlock my domains so that I could transfer them to a new registrar. The domains had both been expired for about 14 days at the time.

The manner in which EasyCGI (partnered with SRSPlus) have handled my domain transfer was extremely poor and represents one of the worst customer experiences I have ever had to endure. EasyCGI approached this matter with sheer ignorance and breathtaking arrogance. It took 9 days to resolve a simple issue which consumed so much time from so many parties. Their unprofessional conduct was highlighted when they attempted to remove themselves from any implication of having breached the ICANN Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy.

EasyCGI request that a customer pay $160 to release an expired domain if it has been expired for more than 2 weeks (and this excludes the renewal costs). Here is a quote from EasyCGIs Customer Support person Reed Safford:

"If you do not renew your domain before the 2-week period the domain goes into a period called the Domain Redemption Period. You can get your domains out of Redemption period upon paying $160.00 fee imposed by the registrar. Note that this does not include the renewal fee. Hence I suggest that you renew the domain names at the earliest so that the domain name will not move to Redemption Period."

This appears to be a blatant breach of the ICANN Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy and I believe represents a form of extortion. For this reason I have also pursued the matter with the International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network (ICPEN).

It was only that I persisted with email after email that they finally unlocked my domains for transfer without charging me.

SRSPlus attempted to distance themselves from the matter by claiming that they could only do what their partner (EasyCGI) allowed. Despite the ICANN Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy SRSPlus did nothing to help me out.

Avoid EasyCGI at all costs! SRSPlus (Domain Registrar) are meant to be good, but they were not helpful in any way, and I would avoid any company that partners with EasyCGI.

Contact your state attorney general about EasyCGI. The add_review script refuses to accept a review that is not positive so I can not provide you with details about my experience.

EasyCGI needs to be forced out of business. Contact your state attorney general concerning their deceptive business practices and fraudulent credit card charges.
Richard, 18th 2010 September, 2010
This company needs to be forced out of business for deceptive business practices and fraud. Would provide more details, but the add_review php script refused to accept it. Seems it looks for certain words or phrases that paint EasyCGI in a n e g a t i v e light and stops the review from posting.
Richard, 18th 2010 September, 2010
RUN, do not walk, to ANY other company.
EasyCGI charged my credit card for renewal of domain privacy which I never had, never requested. I disputed charge with AX, and got a merchant block on EasyCGI as a result, so they can not charge anything to my AX card.

EasyCGI sent me an email that since they received a charge back, my account was suspended, and would be cancelled in three weeks if they did not receive the $17.98 amount charged back as well as a chargeback fee.

I moved all 18 of domain names to a different RSP to stop EasyCGI from having any access to be able to change domain owner or admin contact info.

I tried submitting a more detailed review, but was unable to do so because of a php function error in the add_review script. Seems like the script is checking for certain keywords or phrases that show EasyCGI in a negative light, and stops the review from posting.
Richard, 18th 2010 September, 2010
If you are thinking about doing business with EasyCGI, RUN, do not walk, to ANY other company. I have used EasyCGI only for registration of domain names (I had 18 of them registered through them), so I can not comment on any of their other services. However, when they changed to their new management platform, they took what was two accounts, and split them into 18 different accounts, with different user login names and different passwords, and failed to notify me with regard to half of the domain names involved. The customer dis-service group could not figure out how to consolidate all of the separate 18 accounts that were created into the two original accounts. So, I lived with it.

Then I started getting emails about thirty days before the MONTH (not the year) that my registered domain names were set to expire, notifying me that Whois Privacy would be RENEWED for another year at a cost of $9.99 (or 8.99 recently) unless I contacted Customer Dis-service to decline the renewal. The problem was that I had NEVER requested Whois Privacy for ANY of my domain names in the past, and at the time of receipt of the renewal email Privacy was NOT enabled. The first time it took multiple contacts with Customer Dis-service which had to be escalated to third level managers who had to review my account before Privacy was disabled for the ONE domain name involved. It was at this time I informed Customer Dis-service that I wanted them to DISABLE Privacy for all 18 of my domain names permanently. In July 2010 I get another email for two different domains notifying me my credit card would be charged for renewal of Whois Privacy unless I contacted Customer Dis-Service to cancel, which I did, mulitple times. I once again told EasyCGI to permanently disable Privacy for all of my accounts. So, of course, what they did was charge my American Express account for $17.98, which I promptly disputed, and received credit for. The idiots at EasyCGI then have the nerve to send me an email that since they had received a chargeback, my account was suspended, and that they were demanding that I pay them the $17.98 in addition to a charge back fee or my account would be cancelled in three weeks! Now, I couldn't even open a support ticket, since that had suspended the account, and I had to deal with Customer Dis-Service through regular email. All these idiots did so far was promise to contact me, and re-opened a support ticket from early July that still has not been responded to.

Needless to say, all of my 18 domain names have been transferred to a different RSP, and EasyCGI no longer has access to any login/password information for any of them with Tucows/OpenSRS, so they can't grab ownership or make any changes to the admin contact information for the domains involved.

American Express has also placed a Merchant Block for EasyCGI so that any attempt by them to charge my AX account will be denied.

This company needs to be put out of business, and I intend to file a complaint with the MA and CA Attorney General's office concerning their conduct.

To those of you who have more than a few domain names registered with EasyCGI, you might want to consider becoming an OpenSRS reseller, it costs a one-time fee of $95.00, and you can have peace of mind.

Oh, one other thing, Domain Privacy or Whois Privacy is currently a FREE service for Tucows registered domain names, so the $8.99 EasyCGI is charging it's customers is pure profit for them and costs them NOTHING.
Peter, 29th 2010 August, 2010
Can't move of of them and now they are charging me 10X what I have been paying !!! Going to cancel my credit card just to get them to stop billing me. Total nightmare!!!

David, 07th 2010 May, 2010
Servers or it pipes are badly overloaded. Static graphics take seconds to serve and asp scrips run at a snail's pace, on a simple script that clocks in under a second at night takes as much as 30 sec during the day.
Gary, 04th 2010 May, 2010
I am an IT Consultant that deals with several web hosting companies. EasyCGI is by far the worst and most unprofessional organization that I have dealt with. Their transition from Webstrike was a complete disaster as was their platform migration.

Recently, in working with a client that uses EasyCGI they did the following:

1. Charged a renewal for an SSL cert that they did not actually renew. It took them 3 weeks to fix this situation causing the site to be effectively unusable during that time. In the process, they double charged for the renewal and have yet to provide the correct credit.

2. Once they finally fixed the SSL cert whatever they did caused the FrontPage extensions to break, making the site uneditable from my client's point of view. This took at least 3 business days to correct.

3. In fixing the FrontPage issue, they deleted all of the files on the site and notified us that they had no backup. Fortunately we did.

4. After spending a few hours uploading the backup, we learned the SSL cert was again not properly installed.

This has not been an isolated incident. If you do nothing with your site, things seem to work well. As soon as you attempt to make the slightest change, things go awry. 80% of the fixes they apply seem to break something else.

Attempts to contact their support department usually result in several delay tactics (confirming and reconfirming your identity with security questions and promises to return calls that never happen, etc.)

They may not be the worst host available, but their up their. Needless to say, the ranking their given on this site is completely bogus.

Gino, 23rd 2010 March, 2010
lol @ #4 top ranking. This guys are aweful. Go read the webstrikesolutions / easycgi epic fail. This reveiw site is a bait and swtich site, pain and simple - how do you otherwise explain EasyCGIs ranking?...lol
Mike, 22nd 2010 March, 2010
I was also a webstrike solution member. The transition to EasyCGI was messy. My PHP message board wouldn't work, it took them forever to resolve an issue, so I selected "do not renew" when the site expiration came around.

They wen and charged my credit card anyway. Now I'm in the wait to see if they'll credit my card, as they said the would. They couldn't get me started correctly and then they couldn't even let me discontinue the service properly. GEEZ

Well, EasyCGI are bad i think, but at least they're not as bad as iPower, who are ranked fifth here. That provider are a complete joke!
Amongst them all, there's ICDSoft who seem to be reasonably good. - and rated sixth!
Joe, 01st 2010 February, 2010
Too funny! Just wrote a long itemized scathing review of EasyCGI and got php errors so it didn't post. I believe David is correct. I post a positive one here and it works!!! Go figure.

Too funny! I just wrote a scathing review and got all kinds of SQL errors on this page. That explains the high ranking for such a piss poor company. I believe David is correct!
Joe, 01st 2010 February, 2010
EasyCGI has been plagued with problems and I believe David is correct. You cannot have such a poor service and have these high ratings unless this page has some type of bias. EasyCGI may be good for a mom and pop business, but I would stay clear of them. Their email hosting is the worst that I have seen in 30 years of IT engineering. From a customer service perspective, after they were bought out, it was clear that the new owners were not customer savvy. It's kind of like the old U.S.S.R...."You may have it in any color you like as long as it's black." Their "One size fits all" approach really sucks. We're moving.
David, 23rd 2009 December, 2009
I have no clue how they get the ranking they do. I smell fraud. Without a doubt the worst hosting experience I've had. Spent weeks trying to get my sites running, one of them was never up, databases would magically become corrupt, etc. etc. AVOID.
Paul T, 08th 2009 December, 2009
How is a company rated number 4 when so many people are this agry? There are a lot of people posting to this forum, myself included, who would go to great lengths to knee the President of EasyCGI in the groin. I've been putting up with them for over a year now and asking myself why. No business should continue to exist if it doesn't value its customers. I was with WebStrikeSolutions since their infancy in the early-mid 90s. I'm sure Will had no idea how much pain EasyCGI would inflict when he sold his business.
Total disregard for customers, poor service, non-existant support, unrelaible.
I'm shiopping for another provider but I don't think I'll rely on the ratings on this site.
Paul T, 08th 2009 December, 2009
Unreliable hosting. Pitiful service. Nonexisting support. No one to take responsibility. I started with WebStrikeSolutions in Australia when they were getting started in the early 90s, went through their growing pains with them but was always happy with their commitment to customer satisfaction. I understand that it's an entrepreneur's dream to cash out their business and I don't blame Will. I'm sure he had no idea what a mess EasyCGI would make of the many businesses and organizations that have depended on their service. My sites are up and down whether I touch them or not. Server changes and outages are frequent and I'm sure there have been some outages I'm not aware of. After the transition I lost the ability to publish without using old school FTP and was treated like a second class citizen for using Microsoft design tools, .NET & FP extensions.
Do not give these idiots your business.
Henry, 06th 2009 December, 2009
Easycgi is the worst of the worst, incompetent beyond belief. DO NOT USE EASYCGI.

I have a small .org site.

When easycgi bought out Webstrike---which was very good---I looked up easycgi and was not reassured.

The transition, back in March took two weeks and did not go smoothly (the number of visitors was half that of any months before or after.) They kept referring me back to ... Webstrike.

Now, for the second time in a couple of months, the statistics stopped. On the first ticket, they updated them but that was it and the statistics are still not being updated daily. Now I am waiting to see what they will do.

The other ticket is because, about half the time, my mail client cannot connect to them. They kept telling me to change this or that setting on my email client. Finally, given that it did work the other half of the time---they owed up to the fact there was something wrong with their server.

Even though none of that is a "horror", I am considering moving the site. But to where?
Anna, 20th 2009 November, 2009
I have experienced the same problems as everyone else, and now after days of not being able to send or receive emails, their whole server has crashed. Run as fast as you can the other way form these people. By the way I'm definately going to take action so anyone interested in a class action let me konw

joe, 19th 2009 October, 2009
what is easycgi?
Brendan, 07th 2009 October, 2009
I am an EasyCGI reseller, and have referred clients to the company for the past 8 years. I currently manage 20 individual accounts, and 6 through my reseller account. I recently had a support issue where my client's website has been down for 30+ days and the company still has not solved the problem (Note: The issue just started happening, and I hadn't done anything). The company insists they did not do anything, but things don't magically break. They have still not resolved the issue, and my client is losing $700 a day, yet EasyCGI will only provide him with a month credit ($18.95). I was just told today, that my account "expendable" and not worth retaining. Billing departments and support are not budging on this issue. I am beginning to pull all my accounts (20+), and will move to GoDaddy as of tomorrow. In the past 8 years, I have never had such a horrible experience. ~Brendan
TicketMaster, 01st 2009 October, 2009
Since 1999 I have been hosting websites. I was with Webstrike when they were babies. Never was I disappointed with their support. They did screw up a couple of times but they knew their stuff and they were quick and witty.

With Easy CGI, my world went upside down. I am hosting 12 websites with them and 4 of them are database driven. I started growing an ulcer from the day Webstrike was bought. After the merge, they planned to roll out some kind of automated transfer and for sure it crapped each and every one of my sites.

We spent days fixing the scripts, begging them to haul their asses to install all the missing Perl and PHP components for our scripts to work. When everything was finally working fine, not 1 but 2 TIMES they uninstalled a Perl module that was required for our scripts to work. Not 1 but 2 TIMES it took them about a week to re-install it.

They changed our scripts without any authorization and stated that is was part of an phantom agreement that we were not even a bit aware of...

They billed my credit card (that issued is still not resolved yet) 3 times instead of 1 for a 3 yr domain registration.

One day, all the blogs and the forums stopped working because some kind of monkey uninstalled the MySQL (!!) PHP extension.

As of now, all mailservers are down. It has been like that since 3:00pm and it is now 10:30pm.

I think there is material for a class suit action and I would be delighted to be part of it. They state "carrier class hosting" with "99.9% up-time"... Let's do the math: 99.9% up-time is less than 0.1% down time. In one year, less than 0.1% means less than 8.76 hours. They are already misleading and misrepresenting themselves. What they really are is a real cheap hosting service with real cheap everything that goes with it.

We always have to prove that a problem is on their side and a direct effect of their screwing up. In other words, we do all the troubleshooting for them because they are so clueless. Even when it is all chewed up for them, they take forever to resolve an issue like "domain name does not resolve to the right IP address"

I cannot spill my guts without a word about their customer support. I am afraid though, I will go over the MaxChar allowed in the review field. First of all, their support is less than no support at all. Because they are so stupid and because they always start with this incredibly just as stupid "Dear Reseller, Thank you for getting in touch with us. I understand how sensitive this information is... yatta-yatta-yatta...." they right away increase your blood pressure by a good 20%.

They are paid to apologize and ask you if your computer is turned on. Then, they "escalate" the problem to the next level of incompetency. They never try to fix it. Their available bandwidth to help you is probably less than what you have at home and their computer is most likely slower than your kids'. One time I ditched the ticket system and called the support line because one of my customer could not access his Webmail and it was urgent. I was in my car using my iPhone. When I realized that the support guy was actually logging on to my control panel TO WRITE A TICKET, I used my iPhone (on a G3 network imagine) to do the same thing and my ticket was created before he could even log in.

Man did I write tickets. I gotta go to bed. Bye.
Loretta, 01st 2009 October, 2009
ALL my sites (over 100 of them) and email is down again, with no timeframe as to when they'll be fixed. Webstrike was great. Easycgi sucks. Completely. I've since moved a number of websites to appliedi.net - things are much better there. As easycgi accounts come up for renewal I am taking the extra time to set them up with appliedi. I hope that within the year I will be sleezy-cgi free.

Easy CGI is shockingly BAD. I was a happy web strike customer for years, and can't begin to explain the multiple problems I've has with easy CGI. I've about 50 hosting accounts with them, so leaving is going to be a total pain... but I'm in the process now, and they'll soon never have any more of my business... SHOCKINGLY BAD

I HATE easycgi. Just try cancelling an account with them - you have to jump through hoops just to be away from them. Save all your transcripts if you do the live chat!

I wrote out very clearly - I want to cancel anything and everything to do with your company. Got them to verify that I wanted to cancel my accounts. Just now got yet another email saying my credit card was going to be charged for renewal. When I did the live chat yet again, I was told to 'ignore' the email. You can bet I'll be checking again. I hate them.

I had a horrible experience with easy cgi after it was acquired by EIG. After I figured out what was going on (about a week, since I didn't think any company could really be that incompetent) I was out of there. Why is it called Enduarance International Group? Because they won't go away?
Dorothy, 15th 2009 July, 2009
I was glad to read this. I am not a techy type web geek, just a smalle business person who spent 7 days trying to get my email back after the "migration." Now I know I am not alone, or as stupid as EASYCGI says I am. Moving my site means I have to hire someone to do the work. I hope EASYCGI reads all of these comments and fixes their problem -- one of which is their out-of-the-country support team. Half the time, I have no idea what they are saying due to thier accents.

I have been a webstrike customer since early 2003 - and was very satisfied with their service.

Ever since the migration, not a day goes by when my sites are not having a problem.

I am badly stuck with easycgi (webstrike sold its company to easy cgi)

I am looking for an alternate host - as good as webstrike - but still havent found any.

The day i find a good host as webstrike , I would leave easy cgi -

they are runing my business on a daily basis.

for the info I have been hosting some 40 hostings with webstirke.
jonas, 25th 2009 June, 2009
I was a customer with easycgi for many years (as well as a reseller), when i started receiving notices that some domains were due for renewal i did the logical thing and tried to navigate to the renewals page, but wait... it didn't exist? they had somehow deleted that page so i notified them via email & support ticket only to have them tell me it was a fault at my end, like every single computer & browser i checked all had the same fault.

eventually they told me they would fix it and i should check back in a week (when my domains were about to expire). a week went by, i checked back, the page was up "hooray" i thought, but no. the renew button refused to function. it was there, almost like an image left to taunt me that i was about to lose my domains to the abyss. i also noticed i wasn't able to change any DNS or other details (admin, tech contacts, etc).

i opened more support tickets & sent more emails, eventually i got my domain renewed, but boy was it a headache. i started transferring all my domains away from easycgi apart from one which had been registered less than 30 days before, i also cancelled my hosting account. keeping in mind that as soon as possible i had to transfer that last domain away - of course it slipped my mind.

little did i know, during the cancellation of my hosting/reseller account easycgi's team had taken it upon themselves to... change all my admin/tech/contact information to something i knew nothing about. so when the domain came up for renewal again this year, guess what, i wasn't notified and i lost my site & email for days, then was told it was my fault the info was wrong and i had to pay easycgi $170USD to get my domain back or i would lose it to the highest bidder. after THEY changed my information without my permission.

there has got to be some law against this sort of extortion, if it's illegal for the mafia, then it should be illegal for easycgi!

if anyone wants to launch a class-action suit against easycgi, count me in. worst host in the history of the internet. NEVER use easycgi.
Rick, 15th 2009 June, 2009
EasyCGI has broken my site now I think more times that I can count. Once they changed the version of ASP running without notification. Another time when I opened a ticket because my scripts weren't working, they went in and "adjusted" all my scripts, and told me it was fixed without telling me they'd done anything. today we're looking at about a 24 hour outage because they had a power outage somewhere. And every time I talk to them we have to go back and forth for days (with exactly one response from them each day) where we figure out what THEY screwed up on the site.
Anton, 07th 2009 June, 2009
Thank GOD for that! I thought it was just me!! After the enforced move from Webstrike (thanks for sod all Will Kruss et al) my sites have ben a disaster! They are hopeless beyond belief. And who gave Webstrike permission to pass on my credit card details by the way??
EasyCGI? Don't bother!!!
Simon, 05th 2009 June, 2009
They are a complete disaster. I have never dealt with a more infuriating bunch of idiots. I was happily hosting my sites with Webstrike until the Endurance International Group bought out Webstrike and pushed all of the customers across to EasyCGI.

When they performed the migration they actually changed the code in my websites to fit with their new hosting platform. And that is surely enough to avoid them right there. Of course, after the migration none of my sites worked , despite numerous attempts to get the support team to fix it. They simply won’t fix it.

I had to bail out and move to another host. Trust me, these guys have few clues as to what they are doing, and really don’t seem to care. It’s like they have given up on what they do.

To all of the top executives at the Endurance International Group, which includes:

Steve Sydness — Chief Executive Officer
Hari Ravichandran — Founder and Executive Vice President
Joe Bardenheier — VP, Corporate Development
Gary Engel — VP, Customer Support
Christina Lane — Vice President of Finance
David Bryson — VP, General Counsel
Mitch Haber — VP, Product Management
Jean McCarthy — VP, Product Marketing
Eric Rayleonard — Director of Customer Experience

You’re not very good at your jobs are you? A lot of people have escaped from EasyCGI’s pathetic and destructive service and lost money in doing so. I’m one of them and I am so relieved to have left those idiots who only destroy websites. So I have lost time, money and customers because corporate businesses like EIG have no clue what customer service is, but only choose to follow the bottom line every time.

EIG’s mission statement is:

“Delight customers and help them succeed by profitably delivering superior solutions and an outstanding customer experience.”

In which case, each of you are simply a fake. I’m sure you all get paid well, which of course you shouldn’t. And I’m sure allof you even sleep well at night, which of course you shouldn’t.

And finally, to the former Webstrike customers and the general hosting community out there that have been burned by EasyCGI, please take the time to post as many honest (bad) reviews about these idiots at EasyCGI so that the Endurance International Group lose every penny of their investment when EasyCGI plunges to the depths of insolvency.
Joe T, 03rd 2009 June, 2009
Just awful. I was a happy Webstrike customer for years, then this group of incompetents bought Webstrike. Downtime is terrible, every time they do "maintenance," they break at least one of my sites, prompting me to have to call to get it fixed-- one time of which they actually charged me if I wanted it fixed faster.

They also can't get my account information straight no matter how many times they promise me they'll fix it.

Stay away from these idiots!!!!!!!
Pi$$ed@EasyCGI, 12th 2009 May, 2009
How the hell did over 600 people give Easy CGI a positive rating? Me thinks the rating system is being compromised. This company is sooooo incompetent I can't begin to explain. To the Endurance International Group - I hope the global depression kils companies like yours, you fat bastards need to go down hard.
Missy B, 08th 2009 May, 2009
quick question --> how does EASYCGI appears on ones credit card statement? I dont trust these guys as far as you can shake a stick, so I need toknow their trading/billing name so I can stop with my bank from taking anymore money.

Andrew from oz, 08th 2009 May, 2009
I had 8 seperate accounts (i.e. client websites) hosted with EASYCGI. This is my story

- they refused to host one sit because it didnt meet their QA standards....What the hell is that supposed to mean? When asked, they never gave me a straight answer.

- they lost a database. yes, LOST IT!...no how do you just lose a database?

- 3 sites lost connectivity to their respective database numerous time....multiple times....one client got fed up and i lost his patronage....

- their support is dog shit.....do they actually know anything about windows hosting? I doubt it

- they intentionally disregard your concerns.....they dance around any issue that is too hard for them

bottom line ----> youd be absolutely mad to lay your trust in them.....1001 other webhosts can do a better job.....youve been wared

the worst web host ever bar none
Steve S., 06th 2009 May, 2009
I will add my name to the chorus of bad reviews about easycgi. I was a loyal Webstrike solutions customer for years and was very pleased with their customer service. The level of customer service at easycgi (which outsources their customer service to India and the Philippines) could not be more different. Long wait times, non-responsive answers, and all the other issues that have been discussed above. I am definitely looking for another web hosting company.
George Grubar, 05th 2009 May, 2009
UNBIELVABLE!!! From as of today, I have 3 client's sites which are down due to database connectivity issues...all because EASY CGI switched off their old webstrikesolutions server......you got to be kidding me....I thought everything was migrated?!?!?!?!?!?

EASYCGI are the worst, most disgusting, most incompetent, most unreliable, most useless, pathetic, unstable web host company out there......

Joe, 01st 2009 May, 2009
Same boat as everyone else. Our site was with webstrke since 2001 and never had ANY issues. Webstrke was awesome and some custom configs and installing components. Easy CGI took over and "migrated" our site over...nothing worked. They could not even get our ektron cms software running.

The highlight was when they just shut our old platform off and claimed it was "server issues". It came back after I complained for at least long enough that I could grab our data. Also during the tech support chat, she kept typing "sorry for any inconvenience his has caused" .. ha!

Have ended up moving to ORCS Web (GREAT HOSTING COMPANY)...but they are more expensive. Guess you get what you pay for. Adios Easy CGI!
Alex, 30th 2009 April, 2009
Worst web hosting ever!

Never never use Easy CGI
Simon, 27th 2009 April, 2009
Worst experience ever! Broke both of my websites during the migration from Webstrike (they were great). Mine is sort of working now, but my client's no longer has an SSL certificate and does not allow for online trading anymore. Is my client happy? Ohhh no! This has been broken for many days and despite numerous attempts to contact these idiots via emails and finally via a phone call (at my expense from Australia), nothing has changed.

Here's the worst: They used an automated process to migrate my websites and the process actually changed my code in parts to suit their servers. They then have the gall to suggest that if there's a problem I need to fix the scripts myself because the agreement states that they are not liable for any issues!

Even worse: Because they were unable to transfer the SSL certificate across from webstrike (not sure they actually know how this works), they actually ordered a new certificate for me from RapidSSL knowing full well I already owned one when it was being hosted at webstrike. I specifically asked them not to do this, but they ignored me. I'm not paying for it and I will fight it, but even so, it hasn't even been installed! I have no idea what they are doing because the website is still broken! This has gone on for about 2 weeks now. Have soken to about a dozen or more people in support and they simply quote the usual lines "our support engineer is looking at it and will get back to you within 12 to 48 hours..." (And this line is quoted at the end of each 12 to 48 hours, so it never actually gets to a final moment)... Trust me, they are not doing anything because they appear to have all lost the will to be helpful (either that they are all simply retarded).

They are a NIGHTMARE! Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! We are pulling out despite probably losing money. It's not worth staying with these idiots. I hope they lose all of their captive x-webstrike customers and the deal goes so bad that they have to sack all of the staff that made such a mess of it all. The company that bought out wesbtrike is Endurance International Group, and I sincerely hope thay lose a LOT of money on this acquisition!
Damien, 26th 2009 April, 2009
Same here. I was a very happy Webstrike customer. EasyCGI now just told me my account has been canceled... and that I have 3 days to change host.... I just tried to download MySQL database and they already changed the access.
Would be very happy to join anyone and sue them.
G., 25th 2009 April, 2009
I, too, am less than thrilled at the migration from Webstrike to EasyCGI. With Webstrike, I found that it was generally no-hassle and the servers ran "fast" (at least relative to EasyCGI). With EasyCGI, I first had to deal with very slow page loads. Then came the timeout issues.

If what everyone else says is true, then I guess I have even more fun to look forward to. Great. Any chance we could get the BBB involved? Let me know if anyone gets anything going against them.

Do NOT use easyCGI. Read all the reviews here and elsewhere before your sign up.

I have been a Webstrike customer since 2001. It was a great company. Once it was aquaired by easycgi, there are so many problems. I have been overcharged for hosting. CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD statements! Today I went and cancelled all my hosting account. They want to charge another $35 for cencellation per account. Unbelievable!
RunAway, 18th 2009 April, 2009
DO NOT CONSIDER easyCGI.com !!!!

I had been a happy EasyCGI customer for over five years until they were purchased in late 2008. The new management and tech teams are completely inept. They migrated to new platforms as a result of the ownership change. They promised a smooth transition. After two weeks of downtime and many long conversations with inept technical people, an honest one eventually suggested I consider another hosting company.

It's been over four months since I left EasyCGI. In short they crippled my business. I have not been able to recover the lost sales or advertising revenue. Read the reviews on the web related to the migration in 2008 and their recent handling of the purchase of Webstrike. Do yourself a favor and avoid EasyCGI. There are many other options available. Consider yourself warned.
Timothy, 16th 2009 April, 2009
Short and simple... they don't know what they're doing... had great service with Webstrike... was given NO warning about when the migration was taking place... lost some files.... and while they've been polite they haven't been informative when I need them.
Brent, 15th 2009 April, 2009
My site went down today. I went to webstrike page and it had changed to easycgi.

I couldn't logon either. I called the easycgi and went through billing and actually talked to someone.

He then told me my site had been turned off and server was unavailable and I had been notified already. I could barely hold myself back. I've put too much time into my website to have these idiots manage it.

I never received any emails notifying me. Fortunately they got my site running again and I am pulling all my data off easycgi right now.

I'm not looking forward to setting it all up again on another host.

Luckily, so far no loss revenue other than being down for a couple hours today...I know any minute they are going to unplug my site.

Ian Hewitt, 15th 2009 April, 2009
Hi, I too have had TERRIBLE time with easycry.com, I have lost money and right now my site http://www.typingcertification.com/ is down and they finally told me that the DNS has to change to them, but I was never notified!! They are useless and have cost me plenty as I had 15 sites with webstrikesolutions.com. I am thinking about a class action suit, if interested contact me at language@gol.com

Thanks ian
Rob Gardner, 14th 2009 April, 2009
I have been with Webstrike from 1999 and had all my sites there with out problems, now I have problems, I have an out side monitor to check when it goes down, this is sending daily problems.
If people are coming together to take action , please contact me, rob@holiday-in-oman.com also if Will Kruss sets up again please contact me, great person.
WAR, 13th 2009 April, 2009
I had all my sites with Webstrike, and was extremely happy. Now I am on the road to hell, or I may be there.

1. Tutorials do not match web control panel functions.
2. No consistency across guides to tell you how to configure.
3. Unless your site is static with no data, pray.
4. mySQL seems to work OK, but MS Access DBs are a nightmare to get permissions set. You have to use their web based file manager by MOVING the Db from one folder to another. This would have been a nice touch, to tell us in the documentation.
5. Access to the control panels is timing out repeatedly, not to mention access to the IIS cofigurator.
6. Configuration changes are slow to update, like hours.Hours?
7. email forwards are hit and miss, especially if it is off a domain pointing to another domain.
8. Time for Aspirin
MGJC, 09th 2009 April, 2009
First, the techs are completely incompetent. They don't know what a HTTP Request/Response is. I had nothing but trouble.
- Half of the control panel settings were unusable
- Every request to a URL without a trailing slash were 302 redirected to the URL appended with a slash
- I had to send proofs and screenshots with network-tools.com and they were still saying that was client side (my error)
- When I was accessing my "/stats" folder, sometimes the whole site was freezing.. I had to enter "/stats/".. in fact every URL was showing this behavior.. The site just didn't worked
- I asked for IIS7 static files compression (At first it was enabled).. they disabled it without my consent... and they didn't knew what "static files HTTP compression" was. They sent me a link "Dynamic Files Compression Is Disabled By Default".. 2 days wasted just because they are not able to read
- While testing, they put several files on my home folder without cleaning it
- They didn't gave me a full refund for the "no service" I had
- Every response to issues were basically.. "It's client error"
- In fact, the only thing that is working with this company is the billing department.
- Did I mention the control panel features are half broken ?

Serioulsy, we were about to lunch our business sitewith this host but it would have been a disaster. The hours spent with the technical support made me loose a lot of time (money).

I don't know why this host is in the top 10 of this site.. I just don't know..

This is a follow up
I am a WEBSTRIKE victim
After way too much hassle I started moving my websites. I requested in writing that 2 sites be cancelled

I am looking for people interested in a Class Action Lawsuit. I will even be happy to setup a website specific to this in order to gather information

This is not just erratic rage this is REAL people. They went and did SO MUCH DAMAGE

It's time for a class action. Now. The only matter is organizing it.

Does anyone know of a way to get the full webstrike customer list to start contacting and organizing this?
Chuck, 06th 2009 April, 2009
EasyCGI is by far the worst company around. It's simply shocking the lack of knowledge they have and the lack of respect they have for their newly acquired clients from Webstrike. I personally rely on simple day to day actions from a good provider and after being forced into the transition to EasyCGI it literally is chipping away at destroying my business and other clients businesses. These bozos need to get a clue before they run everyone out of business.
Pat, 04th 2009 April, 2009
@ Jeremy,
Are you saying that a webhosting service can take your websites and delete half their databases, alter php code without your knowledge and then say to you that it's your responsibility to make sure your websites are backed up? I have been backing up every day, but in less than a day, a client of mine got 15 users registered to his shopping cart. Those 15 users have been lost which amounts to thousands of dollars worth of lost business. Also, his websites were down for more than a week now as the server is constantly crashing and displaying a 500 error even when you try to view a simple html page (no .htaccess complications either).
We are at the mercy of companies now are we? Where's the consumer care gone? If you get mistreated by a business and they take your money as well, wouldn't you take them to court?
When you pay for a service, you are entitled to one. If not, then they should give us the option to retrieve our old content and move on. It's only fair. But they even didn't have the decency to allow people to retrieve their backups that were made on the old web server machines. They sent a warning email before the migration, but I only got mine AFTER the migration of some of my websites. What the hell is up with that?
Kip, 04th 2009 April, 2009
Complete abortion of migration from Webstrike. Already started my departure. Webstrike were the best. I wonder how much these idiots paid for it, and how many customers they will retain after this fiasco.

I hope 1. They paid a fortune 2. Nearly all the Webstrike customers they bought will leave
ReviewPolice, 04th 2009 April, 2009
"Second of all." is not a complete sentence. I suggest that you learn proper grammar prior to throw stones in your glass house.
Mad@easycgi, 04th 2009 April, 2009
Were you involved with EasyCGI during the migration? If you didn't have a VPS that was out of action and inaccessible for a week during that time, maybe you should keep your mouth shut. I'm fully aware of how to access and manage a VPS. The problem here is that there was no access to it during migration. Take your fanboi attitude somewhere else. I intend to join any class action suit against this company.

First, the transition from Webstrike Solutions to EasyCGI came without warning. I have many accounts and the transition broke ALL of my client websites with numerous issues. I have been in IT for over 20 years and this was the nastiest, dirtiest migration I have ever seen. Close your eyes and push the button. That is what they did. I am looking for class action lawsuit. Now, I migrated away from EASY CGI, after this incredible experience migration from webstrikesolutions to easycgi.

Now comes the best: THEY CHARGE me 35 US$ for cancellation !!!!!!!!

Hey guys, please we should sue this company, not only giving us the worst service and crap servers, disabling our websites, making us loose a lot of money and work, but now also charging us 35US $ for a cancellation !!!!!!!!!!
Jeremy, 02nd 2009 April, 2009
After reading these reviews I have to laugh at all of you. First of all if you are going to write a public review about a company, make sure you can spell. If you cannot, use spell check. It isn't that hard. Second of all. For all of you that are complaining about a migration need to read the information that is sent to you. Companies purchase other companies, it is your responsibility, as well as theirs, to make sure it transitions smoothly. If you cannot read the information and follow the procedures that are in place to protect your databases and web files then you deserve to have everything deleted. Finally, back up your information. That is your responsibility with any web hosting company, I have been with Easy CGI for years and have no issues with them. For all of you that are complaining about VPS, those are user supported. Perhaps you should go back to school or take a tutorial. It seems to me that this "review forum" is more for people that want to complain about the things they have full control over but wish to blame someone else. I love all of the over exaggerations too, really funny. "My site has been down for 1 million years and no one in support cares, boo hoo hoo, poor me" Transfer or do not, the choice is yours. I'm sticking with them.
P.D, 01st 2009 April, 2009
I can't believe this s**t. I loved Webstrike, they had the best support in the world. Fairly complicated problems would be fixed in less than 2 hours guaranteed.

NOW it's an absolute atrocity. Most of my clients websites after the migration were crippled. A lot of my clients update their website regularily so all their months of business data is lost, gone, vanished. My clients tried to sue me but I informed them that the suit wouldn't be effective as I am in the business of support and resale, not the actual web service itself. I make it clear in my terms. So i'm doing my job, but the supply end is f**king not!

If anyone is initiating a class action against this completely careless company, please send details on here of a place where we can lodge my complaint. I know a few of my clients have gone bankrupt as a result of this and I am trying to recompensate their losses which come to the tens of thousands and loss of livelyhood.

I never thought a migration would go so wrong because migrations are usually a simple task. It's carelessness and nothing else. It's just copying files from the old to the new server for crying out loud, how the hell can they screw up something like that!???
Daniel Reyes, 01st 2009 April, 2009
terrible experience - Webstrike was wonderful - easycgi: only problems:
Destroyed my databases, took 2 days to repair them, now they do not want to install CDONTS, my applications do not work anymore, my website is not reachable, etc.etc.
Support takes ages to respond, does not read my messages, it is a horror trip !!!

I hope they do not crap also my credit card info ....

I am desperate now!

Please tell me where is a hoster like Webstrike ??
Johan Brittz, 31st 2009 March, 2009
Joined Webstrike in Feb and a month later they sold out to EasyCGI. I requested to be migrated on the 9th of March. After being given the runaround and being unable to update my comparison shopping site I finally gave up on the 27th. 18 days!! of no service. Thanx a lot Webstrike :(
EasyCGI cost me! Stay away
Joe, 30th 2009 March, 2009
EASYCGI has lost me 2 clients now! I am migrating ALL my sites to a new host ASAP! papawheelie.com.au has been VERY good for me so far, I now have a few sites with them and I highly recommend

I inclintated about legal proceedings. They had the gall to open a support ticket without notifying me. Aptly name "Legal Threat" :-)

Is this place run by robots?
Alan A, 27th 2009 March, 2009
Go figure I can't even FTP my files. They intend to reinstall FP extensions and said it will delete all site data and to back it up. HOW can I back it up if I cant even connect?
Who's for hitting this company hard?
Alan A, 27th 2009 March, 2009
I just sent an email to Webstrike thanking them for NOTHING. Copied below for reference.
Sad I ALWAYS like webstrike

Who is recommending what for a comparable host? I use GKG for domain registration but not sure about their hosting.
I HATE f*****g HATE NotEasyCGI and dont tell me its my lack of technical know how i've been in this game successfully for years.
Folks @ webstrike ..

Just a BIG thank you for nothing since your sellout to NotEasyCGI. Well done … well done ……

I notice how many customers got sold out, sad story since I always had good things to say about Webstrike.

Can you estimate the damage done to businesses since the acquisition?

What were you thinking? Easy CGI ? My GOD !!!!

Hey I understand financial ambition etc and hold no one guilty for trying to better themselves but now you cashed in just say a big thanks to the number of independents out here that have suffered.

Your conscience should be on life, no you haven’t destroyed mine, but you just made it god awful and costly for a short while. That’s enough to warrant this message.

I bet there are other people out there that just lost their whole bread and butter because of this

Hope you get the fist up the proverbial tunnel yourselves one day.

Looks like I'm not the only long time Webstrike reseller watching EasyCGI destroy their business. I won't get into all my gory details because they've all been mentioned by others. Most currently my biggest client's site has been down all day because they botched the move of the MS SQL database. Whatever they tried last now has left the database empty and my client dead in the water. I've been frantically moving sites out to another host ever since this nightmare started and would suggest idologic.com to anyone who needs a place to move sites. They only host on linux servers so they won't be any help for your ASP sites but they have been extremely helpful and the systems seem to be reliable. They remind me very much of Webstrike in the early days when Will and Shane were always ready to help with anything.
no2easycgi, 24th 2009 March, 2009
I was with webstrike since 2002. Had almost 100 resold accounts with them. Now I am with Hostgator on a dedicated server. Service is great, avoided the whole fiasco it would have become. I watched them attempt to migrate my sites and how they messed everything up. They don't even let you cancel plans without opening a support ticket. They have no peer support forum. They charge extra for premium support. What a joke, this company should be shut down.
Brett, 24th 2009 March, 2009
I co-own a web development company and we have used Webstrike Solutions for a number of years now..and really can't ever think back to a single complaint. If there ever was a problem, Will and the gang would always fix it VERY promptly. Since we have been migrated to EasyCGI, we have had NOTHING but problems. For starters, they labeled our account as one of our resellers. We have requested 4 times through support to have that changed to our actual account...and it still hasn't been done. All of our sites are powered by our own ASP.NET CMS system which was broken since ASP.NET was not supported on the servers we were migrated to. We sat through countless hours of phone calls and emails to support...and on the first call, the technical support person didn't even know what ASP.NET was!! He said he wasn't familiar with my problem and would have to escalate it. Holy LORD people. We STILL have not gotten a resolution to most all of the problems we have reported and it's been a month. We are ACTIVELY searching for a new host to move our sites to...the sooner the better.

For those of us unlucky enough to be stuck with EasyCGI, we have to figure out our own moves to competent hosts...but for those of you looking, EasyCGI would definitely be a choice you would regret.
Scott, 23rd 2009 March, 2009
Their tech support analyst didn't know what an MX record was. Enough said. My website was (sort of) migrated from Webstrike and I am in the process of migrating elsewhere. EasyCGI SUCKS!
Ozzie, 23rd 2009 March, 2009
does anyone know if Will Kruss will open up another web hosting company i would move in a heart beat i have been a Customer since 1999, there were some growing pains in the beginning but support was quick and they always were open to solve the issue,

easy CGI Sucks!!!!!
Old Geek, 22nd 2009 March, 2009
I have a small technical website that I started hosting with webstrike solutions Sep 18, 2000. Interesting, this site says they were founded in 2003, but that is not correct. The fact is, they started in 1999.

I was always very satisfied with WSS, and while there were some growing pains in the early years, they always reacted promptly, including many personal responses by Will Kruss, the founder.

I was sad to see the announcement that they had sold out, but at the same time was happy for Will if he could pull some money out of this for the long hours he has spent over many years.

I wish I had read up on easyCGI before they migrated my site last week, and had pulled a fresh backup -- easyCGI does not even give us the backup option without paying an extra charge. However, since my site changes so little, I am not in too bad a shape.

It's been horrendous. If I received a notice of when the migration was going to happen, it was lost in my SPAM filters. First thing I knew was when I couldn't download my email, then checked my website and all by database driven webpages were down, etc. Finally got most things working, after figuring out they had hacked my pages to change the database connection information and fixing those screwups. Support is very flippant about migration problems, and doesn't seem to know much.

Today, performance is so bad that simple asp scripts are timing out, and even base html pages load slow. I've had it, time to find a new host.
Jim, 20th 2009 March, 2009
2nd level support seems just as incompetent.
How come they are @4 in the "top 10 companies list on the right?
Henry, 19th 2009 March, 2009
24x7 support stinks! People can't be understood, they won't escalte the issues beyond their inadequate first level support and the call back promised, never came about.

The screwed up my transition from Webstrike, bollixed my email passwords and I believe purposely screwed up my account because of their poor procedures and planning on their own part that proved to be uncorrectable for the many converted accounts.
Rab, 18th 2009 March, 2009
I too was migrated from Webstrikesolutions where I had been for over 8 years.

EasyCGI broke my clients' applications, taking over 24 hours to upload the needed components.

I spent over 3 hours today with their support tickets, live chat and on the phone. The ticket system simply doesn't work. As Lori describes below, live chat support are idiots. Phone support quickly went from level 1, who knew nothing, to level 2, who seemed to know something about servers, but wasn't allowed to work on them, and the non-obtainable level 3 who actually get to touch the servers, but can't talk on the phone. The level 3 staff was reported to not be busy but my issues are still unresolved 8 hours later.

I was better off when I knew the support staff was in Australia.
eric, 17th 2009 March, 2009
Sitting on online chat now while they make me jump through hoops all so I can just access my webmail that is blocking my IP now for some reason. Was with webstrike solutions who got bought by easy cgi and the service has gone to $hit
Stacy Gunthope, 15th 2009 March, 2009
used them for awile, now its just aweful...switched to turtlehosting.com so far so good, only 10.99 a year
Loretta, 15th 2009 March, 2009
Was with Webstrike for 8 years. Was very pleased with them, for the most part. They were bought out by EasyCGI and my nightmares have just begun! 1/ 3 of my accounts have transitioned to EasyCGI and I fear what I am facing with the remaining accounts awaiting transition. I reached out to my attorney yesterday and await her input. All I want to know is WHY DO I HAVE TO LOSE HOURS OF NON-BILLABLE TIME TO FIX PROBLEMS THAT EASYCGI'S TRANSITION HAS CREATED. As part of their transition, they have changed numerous files on my client's websites and now those pages do not work. Is that legal? There must be some recourse. I have over 100 accounts with these idiots now. As each come due for renewal, I will speak to each client and insist they allow us to move them to a new hosting company.
Lori, 13th 2009 March, 2009
Words cannot even express how horrid this experience has been. I was absolutely happy with Webstrike Solutions. Now I am moving all my sites somewhere else. Easy CGI has caused me hours of work - changing login information without ANY notification and then making me jump through hoops to login to my own account. Their live chat is almost comical in that they are so incompetent. A typical conversation goes somewhat like this:
me - I can't login to my account.
them - set your security question so we can authenticate.
them - login to your account to set security question.
me - if I could login to my account, I wouldn't be talking to you...

They should not be in business at all.
Bob L., 28th 2009 February, 2009
Same as everyone else - outstanding before the migration/buy out, horrible afterword. A couple of years ago Powweb was bought by these same people, went through the same disaterous migration, and deep sixed another great web host.
tales, 25th 2009 February, 2009
once again people stop crying! half of you are border line technically handicapped and have no idea what you are talking about.

Support does not want to deal with morons and if ou are a moron then don't call. Please take your $4 somewhere else.

Another migration horror story...
Had very few problems with our VPS prior to migration. During migration, they changed our account login user name and did not advise us. Even though I gave them all of our info, including billing card number, they would not even speak with us at tech support unless we could provide the user name. I gave them then one that I used to setup the account (that worked for 2 years) but they said it was incorrect and they were sorry. The would not provide assistance even though THEY CHANGED the name!
Dan Man, 02nd 2009 February, 2009
They suck. If you have any need for technical support you may be waiting days or even weeks to get help.

If you are interested in suing the ass of these criminals, please email me at max_fromm@yahoo.com

I cannot feel whole until these people are no longer in business.

EasyCGI is a truly atrocious company to be doing business with. They have practically ruined my ecommerce business as a result of their incompetence that has bordered on criminality. In one of their upgrades, they messed up my database, my ftp, and even went as far as touching my code to 'adjust' it to fit their changes. And during all of this, they didn't raise a finger to help. Stay away from this company. The only thing they deserve is to be out of business.
Joe, 16th 2009 January, 2009
Email we host there has been down for almost 24 hours. The status updates went from 6pm to the next one at almost 6am. Guessing they went home and only have 8x5 ith there NetApp vendor. Can't imagine 24 hours to restore service. You'd think "fully redundant" would mean no single point of failure. (we used Snapmirror on our netapp boxes at my old place. But then again, we were 6 sigma! They really do suck. We're moving.
SP, 13th 2009 January, 2009
Absolutely worst hosting company ever! avoid them at any cost. Have been loyal customer for over 2 yrs since we started our website. Everything was good till the migration in October. Since the migration, numerous problems showed mostly with MSSQL DB and they still have not been able to resolve all the issues. Site down, lost face with customers.. too painful and embarrassing to list. I'm in if there is a class action lawsuit against them.
Jill, 13th 2009 January, 2009
If you happen to hear or know about a class action lawsuit regarding this horrible service company, please post it We too were held hostage and had extremely large downtime expenses thanks to the migration and lack of personnel who actually knew what they were doing. We lost a huge part of our hosting business because of this.
Tom, 11th 2009 January, 2009
Our migration was devistating. They were hosting a web service and a MSSQL database. When they did the migration, the database went down and they absolutely cannot get the database back. So, they lost ALL our data. They kept referring to them saying to back up our data. I thought that was the job of a hosting company!!! If their data wasn't backed up, then if something went down, how would they get it back up??? Well, to add insult to injury, they sent the letter that migration was complete. I tested the website and everything was still working! Then, all the sudden a couple weeks later, the website went down. It ends up that our database was still hosted on their old platform, but the website was on the new platform. So, when they finally took the old platform down, we couldn't connect to the database. How could we do a real test that the migration was complete if they still allowed connections to the old database....THEN when they finally take it down, say there was no way to get the old data?

Sigh...I too would be willing to investigate into a class action lawsuit because this disaster has cost several thousands of dollars of irreversable damage.
Mythos, 05th 2009 January, 2009
EasyCGI pre migration was an excellent hosting provider. EasyCGI post migration is the worst hosting provider on the planet! Stear clear of this company! I cannot begin to list all of the issues I've had but here are a few. I've been over charged on multiple domain renewals (Still un-resolved). All of my DB where migrated with out any of the tables or data! Thank goodness I back-up! Now I'm having session state issues... this is tipical of large hosting providers... but I never had the issue before the migration. I'm currently look for a new hosting provider!
Carl, 22nd 2008 December, 2008
Been with them for 4 years and decided to leave due to all kinds of problem since migration. They would not let me cancel the account until they can charge me for one more month. I requested cancellation in the middlie of Nov. and they cancelled my account on Dec 1st so they can charge me for that month. What a sucker!
craigg, 22nd 2008 December, 2008
I have used EasyCGI for about 2 years and even referred others 2 them. Now I am disappointed with their hosting after the migration. I was left with pages that didnt work and the support is very sorry. If you want decent support you have to pay for it...not much of a host anymore, I would not recommend to anyone. Look elsewhere, thats what im having to do now!
Randy , 17th 2008 December, 2008
Easycgi has lost it. They migrated my site and lost a bunch of my data. I was able to get it back by connecting to my old database. They changed the connection strings in my files without telling me. It's not Microsoft that is the problem, I had no problem for 2 years until they changed ownership. They flat out suck and I mean this in the worst way possible.
TG Tang, 14th 2008 December, 2008
I have just migrated my web site to new platform, and my web site does not work. The new system seems very bad. The problem is not of Easy-Cgi company, It seems Microsoft products quality problem. More bugs made Easy-Cgi out control.
salameh allan, 10th 2008 December, 2008
the worste company on earth,

crap support
crap customer service
crap reliability

easycgi are the worste company dont use them, I have almost moved all my domains with them....easycgi customer support dont care about your issues,

they promise fixes and never deal with it, you just keep goung round and round with the "easy" cgi support team and billing department. I wasted allot of time and money getting all my clients moved off from easycgi, they should change their name to crapcgi

Brian, 08th 2008 December, 2008
Agree with the others. Went from good to WORST! During the horrible and still not completed transition EasyCGI destroyed our site - a non-profit charity FirstScholarshipFund.

They lost all email addresses and past emails. They lost the database. The lost our SSL. They changed the script support and we couldn’t receive customer feedback or error messages. The email was down for days, the DB for weeks and the SSL for months. We could not process any transactions and lost significant donations.

Christian, 07th 2008 December, 2008
We used to love EasyCGI. Our site worked great with no problems. Once the migration happened, the site went down, and has been down for a week now. The problem? I had a DSN set up for my SQLServer database, and DSN's were eliminated 'for improved security'. As a result, none of my pages can connect to the database.
I called tech support and asked for the new DSN-less connection string setup, and was told that they 'don't offer coding help in technical support'. After demanding to talk to a supervisor, I was provided with sample code containing a connection string, which didn't work.
I replied that it didn't work. They replied that they no longer used DSN's, and I should use a DSN'less connection. THey also suggested not using ADO and using ADO.net, which would require a major rewrite of every page on the site. (They had no problems before that.) The sample code I received, and the sample code for Access in their knowledgebase is ADO!

Meanwhile, my site is still down.

If anyone has found a working connection string for SQL server on the new platform, please POST IT!!!
Mike, 03rd 2008 December, 2008
They are a terrible company now. I had the same experience as most. Used them for several years and they were great. Now they keep putting me on hold, don't give refunds when they should, are double charging, are just leaving me on hold until I disappear. I would not piss on this company if it was on fire.
Simon, 03rd 2008 December, 2008
Absolute nightmare... I am unable to reinstall a basic moodle website which DID run fine! Tech support doesn't understand anything, careless migration and corrupted files during their transfers.. You cannot even connect to your SQL database with Enterprise Manager! Absolutely crap, wish I had not just renewed my account with them.
Dave, 03rd 2008 December, 2008
Been with them for 5 years, then they wiped out all my sites and email. They cannot recover them. "we hoped that you backed up"

They just do not care. I can't see how they will be able to stay in buiness with such poor attitude and crappy service.
jaly, 02nd 2008 December, 2008
For 4 yrs I've been with easycgi only for personal use. I hate to but have to move though I'm very lazy and busy.
Adrian, 02nd 2008 December, 2008
I have been with EasyCGI for five years. Since their migration I have had so many problems that I have no alternative but to go somewhere else. Simply trying to pay my bill turned out to be a virtual impossibility. Their support has been the worst I have ever experienced from any online company. The last straw was when they decided to spontaneously cancel my account. My advice to anyone using this company – get out quick before you are forced to.
Joe, 30th 2008 November, 2008
The migration to the "new" platform was probably necessitated by their acquisition by Startlogic. Supported by their new incompetent Tech Support staff, the "transparent" migration to the "new" platform has proven to be a complete and total disaster for most EasyCGI customers. The problems we experienced, which are too painful to describe, are similar to the ones mentioned in previous reviews. In short, can anyone recommend a competent and reliable ISP?
mike, 28th 2008 November, 2008
I’m tired of losing money every day my site is down. Is there a class action lawsuit against Easy CGI? I would like to get involved if there is. If there isn't, I will take the lead and file a class action lawsuit. Please e-mail me at michael.ramer@nabpop.com if you know of a class action lawsuit that has already been filed OR if you want to get in on the class action lawsuit that I will file if one hasn't already been filed.
Jed, 28th 2008 November, 2008
We all know easycgi sucks after this migration...

FYI easycgi is now owned by Startlogic
Sally, 27th 2008 November, 2008
The revenew of my company it has been almost 0 this month thanks to easy cgi.
We should get toguether and take legal action agains this company.
TERRIBLE good for the last 4 years but after the migration... they just screw everything up!!
Todd, 26th 2008 November, 2008
DO NOT CONSIDER EasyCGI under any circumstances!!

I was a loyal customer for 5 years and this forced migration brought my site down and I've been told after weeks of tech support promises that I now need to find a new hosting company. There was no sense of urgency to restore my site. I've lost weeks worth of revenue, all of my advertisers have canceled and they unraveled 5 years worth of hard search engine optimization efforts. I may end up out of business. I'm in on the class action lawsuit or will pursue litigation on my own.

Do yourself a favor and avoid EasyCGI!
Paul, 25th 2008 November, 2008
Have been a customer for 3 years with few issues that were quickly and professionally resolved. That was until the "Migration" that started in September. Far less reliability. Was told in the last week to be sure to back up site and to look for another hosting company. I think the rep was trying to give me good advice. I don't know what changed, but this company has simply imploded.
Rich, 24th 2008 November, 2008
I've been hosting with them for a little over 2 years; I never really LIKED them, but it was good enough to keep me from the trouble of moving. With the forced migration I'm getting continual problems with mySQL databases and my site is going down for hours at a time; I went in to do a sort of test and set up a coppermine app, they require you to have them change directory permissions through support. WTF? Thats it, I'm sticking a box in my closet on commercial DSL and grabbing my site back while I still have customers.
David, 21st 2008 November, 2008
The migrations has cause problem with all of my clients web sites.

It appears easycgi is being run and own by ReadyHosting.com now. The level one support tech email address was something@yourwebhosting-inc.com.. If you goto that url yourwebhosting-inc.com it brings up ReadyHosting.com I guess this is the reason for the migration.

I think we need to have a Class Action Lawsuit for all of EasyCGI clients. I understand some of the smaller web firms that do business with EasyCGI are in danger of going out of business.

I ask EasyCGI if they had a user forum. They did, but they have shut down.

Chris, 21st 2008 November, 2008
Run away, and run FAST!!! EasyCGI has completely screwed everyone of my reseller accounts with this migration. DNS records were completely obliterated rendering my ftp, mail, and practically every other service dead. They 'forgot' to move my client's databases from the old server and has spent the last 3 days trying to restore them to the new server - guess what? They don't have any recent backups!! (Would have done it myself if I wasn't already paying them to do it!!)

DO NOT HOST WITH EASYCGI!! The migration has completely ruined their company, not to mention, their service is TERRIBLE! Level one techs can't do a thing, tickets get sucked into a black hole and nobody wants to help you. Absolutely ridiculous.

So long SleazyCGI
Arif, 21st 2008 November, 2008
I have been with easycgi.com for over 3 years and hosted several domains with them... I found their service was pretty good and support was ok for the price. However this Migration has been a nightmare. They idiots over there are making code changes... they don't care about how much money the customers will loose. They are not giving ample notification before migration... shutting down old databases without warning... we are having to scramble just to make things work. You can get a dedicated server these days for just a little more than what easycgi is charging... and after this migration.. ill be looking for another provider. Great job easycgi... why fix it if it was never broke. Way ta take the company down the drain.
Froggy, 20th 2008 November, 2008
HORRIBLE tech support! Only lvl 1 techs on phone and lvl2 has to be submitted. They take forever and do nothing!
Phil, 19th 2008 November, 2008
Same here. I just googled for "easycgi horrible service" and found this here right away.
Tech support does not really get easy things done that were done within hours a year ago. They reply in many words and do nothing.
Coops, 19th 2008 November, 2008
Along with everyone else - I am leaving easycgi after about 7 years as a happy customer. The "migration" has been a disaster from start to finish and the tech support is horrible. Stay away!
Jed, 19th 2008 November, 2008
This company totally destroyed itself with the migration... I am out and I am taking my 6 sites with me.
Redfish, 19th 2008 November, 2008
All I can say is RUN ... run fast and run long, but definitely run from this pack of idiots. Here's the facts - if you are migrating .Net/ MS SQL based sites you are screwed. You won't see your site again. Ours was down for 4 days AFTER passing all their migration tests, doing their side-by-side compare. Everything passed – we hit the migrate button and that was the end of the site.
Get your data now and move fast. I can’t imagine many hosts being worse than this one. In our case after the migration disaster we had to recover. NONE of the easyCGI backups were current and although we could 'see' the data on the old platform they had no way to even run a current BAK.
The help desk were clowns one and all – save one L2 who after an hour of begging put us back on the old platform after the migration killed our site for 4 days. Other than this guy complete clowns - one and all 20 calls and countless online sessions later no results whatsoever. Absolutely the worst hosting experience I have had in my life. Get your data and files now or you most likely won't see it again ... in my opinion and based upon my experience. Yes, WE had our own backups ... just in case anyone wonders.
btw - the way we did use the new platform for a week or so for another site and it is absolutely junk with loads of issues. Here's a good - the file manager can't 'see' a file over 5mb. Really useful. The unzip in File Manger - broken. Can’t see anything with a zip gz tar etc. in actual file manager itself. SQL tool - loses login information. Maybe someone has had a better experience, but mine well and truly sucked here as well!
Carl, 18th 2008 November, 2008
Finally, my web site is complete down due to CGI careless migration. The database would not connect. The tech support suck. He told me it is our script problem. I told him that no one changed the script for years and everything is working until now. He said the error message said it is "temperary". I told him that it just saying when the program written. What kind of idiot the tech is?!
Todd, 18th 2008 November, 2008
Same thing as all of you..I hope they COMPLETELY cease to exist...4 years no problems...This migration is BS - If it functioned as before, one thing, but this is absolute GARBAGE..I am sooooo mad at them..they SUCK!!!
BD, 18th 2008 November, 2008
My company has recommended EasyCGI for the last 4 years to 30 plus of our clients, with little or no issue. However, over the last few months the “New” EasyCGI (since the migration) is horrible. I cannot stress enough that you must avoid using this hosting provider at all cost. I don’t have enough time to describe the nightmare we have been going through the past 4 weeks..because I am too busy trying to fix all the issues and sooth the angry clients. We are moving all the sites to new hosts. When the dust settles, I’m planning a lawsuit against EasyCGI on behalf of my company and my clients.
cynthia b, 15th 2008 November, 2008
I've used easycgi for about 3 years and loved them but it's been a disaster for about the last 4 months. Even before migration their stuff stopped working -- i'd sign up for another database and they'd not charge me (not that I'm complaining about that), but, still makes you wonder.
I'm switching to another company asap -- already have my 3 databases moved over.
steve, 14th 2008 November, 2008
does anyone know how to reach the new cgi's corporate owners offices? they are incompetent. all was fine until migration. then disaster. no support, they answer the phone, but either dont know what they are talking about or dont care. we are being double billed for services we already paid for, but they only have billing records going back 3 months when they were taken over. we are moving off site ASAP and we strongly advise that if you are not a cgi customer, stay that way.
P.R., 13th 2008 November, 2008
Unbelievable is all I have to say. Way to destroy a great company. My experience in the past 4 years has been great and within a couple of days they completely changed my mind. My site has been down for 2 weeks. Clients are upset. I don't understand how this migration, which was supposed to go through a testing phase before it happen, got sooooo screwed up. The have done so much to damage the companies reputation that I am fearful that it will even exist in the future. Job well done in screwing so many people and yourself in the process. I need to get out before you go out of business.
AB, 11th 2008 November, 2008
Our sites have been down for 4 days. They are part of the last 300 to be migrated. Can anyone report as to whether website(s) are working after the migration? We have a magazine article coming out next week about our new website. Is there any hope that once migrated websites are fully operational? Thanks!
Heidi, 11th 2008 November, 2008

I’ve been with easycgi for almost 5 years, we host around 30 websites with them, never had any trouble until they started their migration process to the new platform, it is a disaster area, some of our sites have been down for 3 weeks now, in other domains the FTP does not work, or the e-mail, I can not access the MSQL database, anyway all sorts of problems with every website is different, but not of them are working properly.
The support team can not be more careless, they just don’t have any idea of what is going on.
The billing department is sending invoices, of bills that already have been paid.
And when I finally thought somebody from the support team was listing, he ask me for my contact details and almost immediately, I received a e-mail telling me about all the troubles in Easycgi and recommending me to change to Aplus.Net

I can go on telling about my experiences with this company, but the bottom line is that is a disaster area and I am moving but definitely not to Aplus.net.
Matt EasyCGI, 10th 2008 November, 2008
Unfortunately, there isn't enough room in this text box to discuss what all they have done wrong. I've been with EasyCGI for over 5 years, and I am now moving all accounts (more than 50) off of their servers, from shared plans to VPS.
1. They took my VPS down for more than a full week. The new support department could not care less. When it finally was restored it was a wreck.
2. They promise 99.9% uptime, and I have had several sites down for days at a time. Email has been completely hosed. The new platform they are putting everything on is a trash can.
3. They even had one of my domains resolving to the WRONG WEBSITE, some other account of theirs. Seriously, that's just an embarrassment to web hosting.
4. Other accounts they migrated but left the SSL behind? Seriously. I guess they thought the credit card processing wasn't that important.
5. Other sites had custom DLLs (com objects) installed, and naturally they trashed those and have no idea what you're talking about when you call. They now have Tiers 1, 2, and 3, support. You can't talk to 2 and 3. You get Tier 1's canned responses for everything after the 30 minute phone queue, a couple times I waited more than an hour. Every SINGLE time it's the same thing... "we apologize for the inconvenience".

If you are considering hosting with them, just go jump off a cliff, you'd be better off. Should someone want to validate any of my claims, you can contact me through this site, my email address is real.
Ryan Tyler, 10th 2008 November, 2008
I had some initial problems after the migration but my old site was still available, EasyCGI stated that the old site was available while you tested the new platform. Once all teh problems are out of the way I think this is a step forward. The new server seems to be quicker and the control panel GUI much clearer and more features available.

The old DB was also left in tact, I transfered 2 new domains today which happened very quickly! Also the live support where great and a ticket that i registered was answered within an hour or two i think.

My only problem at the moment is not being able to connect to my SQL DB from visual studio (from my pc) for testing, although I can always set up a local copy to get around this so not a big deal.

If you want a decent host that is cost affective I would go with EasyCGI, if you go with another company chances are they too at some stage will have to upgrade...
Ryan, 10th 2008 November, 2008
My site is not currently working as I cant seem to connect to my new database, I have asked how I should change my connection string but have not heard yet. the ftp address I had to use to connect to webspace had to be given to me through a support chat as I didnt see it on my control panel. Have been great up until now, not sure if i should renew account next year.
Translucent , 10th 2008 November, 2008
Have over 35 sites hosted with EasyCGI, after the migration pretty much all sites have been down for a week or more. We are in the process of transferring all sites off this host. It's a shame, they were good until this merger, the new company that bought them out is HORRIBLE. DO NOT HOST YOUR SITE WITH THIS COMPANY
Bill, 10th 2008 November, 2008
I, too, have been a EasyCGI customer for over three years and the service was excellent UNTIL the migration. If it ain't broke don't mess with it!! Or give me a choice of your new platform vs the old dependable one. Nothing but problems since migration! One more week then Good-bye
Doug, 09th 2008 November, 2008
EasyCGI has proven to me, they are unable to provide reliable service. Does anyone have a suggestion for another hosting company?
Carl, 07th 2008 November, 2008
Being with this hosting company many years and until this migration. They force us to use their payment gateway PowerPay. They are not going to install any payment gateway software on new server. Without any notice, they migrate mine site to new server. I am looking for new hosting in these days. Hopefully I can leave this company in a few days.
Ron, 07th 2008 November, 2008
EasyCGI used to have best tech support team. Now they screw up my sites and cause data losses. And randomly rewrite my database and files without letting me know in front. I am thinking about Godaddy.com. Anybody has experience with them?
fhonline, 07th 2008 November, 2008
thay were relatively good, until now, what the H3LL were they doing? now my site is down, no support. and I just renewd mind not long ago, SH1T!!!
E.M., 07th 2008 November, 2008
I'm another victim of the negligent easycgi migration process. My site is down for 2 days now, no mail, no database, no answer, no solution. A complete disaster.

Before migration all worked fine, with some minor problems, but now...

They should have allowed us to test the new platform before forcing all of us to migrate without a chance to return to the old situation.

They have kept on migrating users despite the multiple problems and complaints detected since the beginning of the process. They don't care about us, our work and our economy. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!
Gino, 04th 2008 November, 2008
EASYCGI IS A DISASTER!! They migrated me and thousands of others with no notice to new platform and site immediately went down. Continuous support calls, chats and email result in nothing. They do not know what they are doing and the India-based tier 1 support is completely useless. They refused to point my DNS back to the old servers, which worked fine. I've been down three days now and there is no end in sight. STAY AWAY!
Scott, 03rd 2008 November, 2008
Everything worked fine before the migration. Now, none of our hosted sites are working. I've opened several tickets(when their site is actually working). None of which have been worked on, and are still in open status. Even thous none of my sites are working, and their site works some of the time, their billing dept has no problem billing me each month. That alone shows me where their priorities lay...
Russ Klepper, 02nd 2008 November, 2008
Hi Marcus and all others - I'm leaving Easy-CGI I have had all the same problems each and every other person listed here has had. I have given up after spending nearly 70 hours in 9 days and still nobody can answer my questions. I know how to fix the problem (on the old server) but nobody understands how to answer my questions on this new server. GOODBYE EASYCGI!
Marcus Simpson, 01st 2008 November, 2008
We have been with EasyCGI for 2 years, and they were great up until now. We host over 30 hosting accounts for customers, and after the migration, sites stopped working and newly created accounts had automatic blocks on them. Now, I have more new accounts to create, and I can't even log into EasyCGI. EasyCGI.com is down. Yourwebhosting.com is down. I did a whois on EasyCGI.com and their DNS is not even coming up. What is going on? My customers are complaining they can't get e-mail! GO BACK TO THE OLD SERVERS....PLEASE. I'm about 2 seconds from calling Godaddy.com.

Technology Consulting Group America
CG, 31st 2008 October, 2008
This migration has been horrific. It's taken so much time and energy trying to get their support staff to understand what, apparently, were common problems. And the answer is 'sorry we can't fix this problem we created'.

The site was in QA for a week. The result - they've potentially cost us thousands of dollars in lost sales with the terrible job migrating email accounts.
Russ K, 30th 2008 October, 2008
Used to love them, but then they decided to migrate to a new server. Worst move they ever made. I've been down for 8 days now, tech support has absolutely no clue - they are slow to get back to you - usually just have a copy & paste response - STAY AWAY FROM EASY CGI!
Rich Mattiello, 28th 2008 October, 2008
Easycgi is AWFUL. I am also a victim of their 'seamless' migration- email down for days, ftp account settings dissapeared, and on and on. But the worst part is that their 'support' team acts as if they know nothing at all about the migration. In fact, they seem to know nothing at all about anything. I tell them my issue and I get put on hold for a long time and frequently am cut off. I am transferring my domain TODAY.
James, 27th 2008 October, 2008
Recently EasyCGI migrated servers. They claim to be seamless transitions but this is not the case. The support basically sucks and the result has been a lot of unbillable work having to be done to fix the sites. I would stear well clear of this group. they used to be goos a few years ago but this situation is unforgiveable. We are OUT.
Rohan, 27th 2008 October, 2008
We've had about 6 sites down as a result of their move. The new servers didn't even have the facilties to run our sites!!!! We've gone into emergency mode to fix them and ended up migrating them to another company! Last two weeks has been an absolute disaster thanks to Easy CGI.
Senthil kumar N, 25th 2008 October, 2008
My VPS was down for more than 15 days still there is no proper response from tech support or anyone, I lost all my business and last energy by calling them repeatedly. They dont bother about the customer needs, so apologize everytime its of no use and the support hasbeen outsourced and this support teams are working from Mangalore, India. Due to outsourcing still nothing is happening. Never choose EasyCGI as your provider.
Jim, 23rd 2008 October, 2008
It's going on 12 days of downtime here. Support keeps telling me it's back online, but when I go into Plesk all our websites are gone. Obviously we had to move to a new host, but it's quite annoying they can't even seem to find our websites anymore. There are some items we'd like to get off there. Support only seems to respond at 3am and it's someone named Von. I don't understand how a host that has 12 days of downtime and lost 25 of our websites can be ranked number 4?

I'd like to take a hammer to these people and their disgusting service. Miigraition was promised a 12/24/ hour turnaround from last saturday. It's now nine days and counting. same story recieved as the rest of the folks here. promises of 2 hours or so to be back up. Airheads at the vps hotline support. one gave me a new ip address and said the original was no good do to migration. next day, another rep said ip remains the original-, had no idea why he would have assigned a new ip, and of course did not apologize.-what the f*&k? then she says she can log in. so I try, for the 50th time over the last nine days. oh i can see the vps desktop, but just try to open a program (my fxdd metatrder program is the ONLY ONE loaded), and opened tediously slow, with duplicated data, missing my robots, and then froze immediately. She must have been smoking crack. BOTTOM line, after nine days my vps is still down to thousands of $ lost in forex. and no more eta from them. also, they promised all calls are recorded. so when i said I would be bringing small claims lawsuit against company, suddenly the rep said he was not allowed to verify if calls are recorded. he put me on hold, and how interesting that the call was disconnected after i waited with their lousy music for 15 minutes. I would like to take a baseball bat to these insensitive theives.

Absolutely unacceptable. All you read below is true. EasyCGI promised a "24-36 hour" migration. With no forewarning that we should have alternative contingency plans. Like many here, I have lost a lot of money. We trusted our payment processing and software activation servers to EasyCGI and we have been out of business for 8 days. Every inquiry is given a standard 24-36 hours or "can't say when" answer. Hasd this company said that it could be a week we would have been able to set up a another server, as it is we cannot get the current database off the servers. We have been seriously impacted financially where I would venture to the company should be held liable. The should have had a contingency plan. They should have provided accurate information as to the potential risk of what they were planning to do. In my opinition they are totally negligent, and I would advise all to seek other vendors for mission critical systems.
Sean, 19th 2008 October, 2008
The VPS service is down for 8 days!!
I cannot find my 10 sites on google.
I spent a lot of money for my sites for SERP.
Right now, I almost give up my web business.
I lost over $30,000..........
They don't care about our business.
Horrible... horrible... web hosting company.
Mike, 18th 2008 October, 2008
EasyCGI hosting has to be the world’s worst hosting company. Our VPS has also been down for 7 days and counting. I spoke with their tech support again today and all they can offer is an apology. They have said since Saturday 10/11/08 that our VPS would be back up in 12-24 hours. They continued to repeat this fabricated lie for the next 7 days that I contacted them. Today Saturday 10/18/08 we are still without a server and we have lost 1/2 of our clients because of EasyCGI's negligence. I am writing this off as a loss and we have already signed up with a new hosting company. Our attorneys will be contacting EasyCGI’s legal department on Monday to discuss our losses from their negligence. I would suggest anyone who is looking for a host to not make the same mistake we made. Check out the host very carefully before you put all your information with them. EasyCGI in my opinion is worthless and owes our company and our clients a lot more than just an apology. BTW, why is there a positive button below this window? Has anyone used it for this company?
Cuivre River Electric, 18th 2008 October, 2008
EasyCGI can now officially remove their claims to a top 5 web hosting company in the world. Their claimed 99.9% run time is a complete fabrication. They are without a doubt the world's worst hosting company! Our VPS system has been down for 7 days and counting. EasyCGI support is worthless. For 7 days they have continued to make claims that our website will be restored within 12 hours. 168 hours of downtime and counting...
MM, 17th 2008 October, 2008
Our website for advanced cancer patients provides crucial information for people in desperate, life-threatening situations. Our EasyCGI website has been down for over a week now, with no idea of when it will be back online, despite repeated calls. This is really outrageous.
Ethan, 17th 2008 October, 2008
My 2 VPS servers have been down for almost a WEEK! I constantly have gotten the run around. This company is the absolute WORST. They deserve to be out of business. EIG's technical migration team are a bunch of idiots. Go read the guy that is in charge of it (Hari) on EIG's bio page. Utter garbage these people are. Good riddance!
Vikram, 16th 2008 October, 2008
Looks like EasyCGI was bought out by Endurance International Group, Headquatered in Burlington, MA, with a nother office in Phoenix, which is where all the support people we've been talking to. This is why they don't care. They've been bought out. http://www.enduranceinternational.com/
Alex, 16th 2008 October, 2008
EasyCGI is crap. They've kept their customers in the dark. THey've migrated servers to a black hole where no one can't access anything. They say wait another 12 hours every day. You could not pay me enough to keep my service with them. I've talked to at least 15 reps, all of which are no help. I've been hung up on 3 times (and I wasn't even verbally abusing them). This company has gone from great to TERRIBLE this year alone. Never start hosting with them.
David, 15th 2008 October, 2008
Ive been told to wait 24 for 5 days now!! I cant even get a copy of my database or anything, the service has been absolutely horrible this week =( help!
Kiki, 14th 2008 October, 2008
My site is down from 10 friday 8 pm.And i down know when this mess will end.All they say it will take another 12/24 hours, they say it everyday now!
HATE THEM!!!!!When my site is up again,(i hope) first thing i'm gonna do is leave!!!
yolly, 14th 2008 October, 2008
my site is always down!!!! I paid for what?
Matt, 14th 2008 October, 2008
My VPS has been down for over 3 days now, and yes, all support has been clueless and completely not helpful. I actually just got off the phone with support guy who said "there's nothing I can do for you" wow.... I am trying out other VPS plans as we speak... I'm starting with HostMySite windows VPS because Cnet had a good review of them... we'll see. I'll be moving all 60 sites I have off of EasyCGI.
Jim, 14th 2008 October, 2008
They have been down for 3 days and counting as they surprised us and my clients with a data center transfer. Even their DNS is down! What kind of hosting company turns off their DNS??? Host with them if you want a week of clients bitching at you! If you ask for support they give you the same canned responses and act totally clueless.
Shabeer, 14th 2008 October, 2008
The VPS servie is down for 3 days!! Horrible...

can anybody suggest a better VPS windows hosting plan.
AZ, 14th 2008 October, 2008
Hell this service
Kate, 12th 2008 October, 2008
If you haven't already signed up with EasyCGI.com, please please please DON'T.

Read this review and the others below me first.

We host 3 domains with EasyCGI. One goes down every month for a minimum of 2 days. The support is farcical, you submit a ticket and they respond by telling you to telephone. So you telephone but can't get through. So you go to "Live Help" and they say "Submit a support ticket".

Please please please do not sign up with this awful company, your site is too important to leave in the hands of people this incompetent.

Avoid EasyCGI or you will regret it for the life of your website.
kris, 10th 2008 October, 2008
they suck crap
paul, 07th 2008 August, 2008
NOT good, Certainly not in the top 10, AVOID THEM
(read below for a full explanation)....
peter, 17th 2008 July, 2008
How come everybody have negative respond to this hosting and why they suggest different hosting ?
Jon, 06th 2008 March, 2008
I've had these folks host a number of my web sites pretty much since their inception over 5 years ago. Up until these past 6 months, they have been fantastic. But, as of late, I'm getting outages that take down their entire site. You can't even pull up their own home page. So, all of my emails, personal sites, business sites, and client sites are down with no explanations and no contact capabilities. I'm not sure what has happened with this company, but I'm not very impressed right now.

When they are working, they have, what I believe to be, the best on-line tools, capabilities, etc. When they go down, its a black hole.
Ryan, 26th 2008 February, 2008
Update. It has been over 7 hours and ALL OF MY CLIENTS SITES ARE STILL DOWN!!!!! What the **%. They say that they have a 99.9% up time, I just did the math, if they miss 14 days they are down to a 95% up time, and I know that the site has been down for at least a total of 14 days in one year! Crap Company!!!
Ryan, 26th 2008 February, 2008
I was looking for a company that had free MySQL's This way I could set up a few of my clients and use easycgi for all of my database needs. I even set up one of my clients up with the osComm.. Shopping Cart. Everything looked good at first, but then the problems hit... The site has been down 4 times in the last 2 mths that I know of, the customer is wanting to know why... I have no answer, EasyCgi's home page won't even load. Bottom line... Junk, STAY AWAY... They should change the guarantee to 99% down time. Now I have to pull all of my domains, databases, and shopping carts. This could take days and $$$ to make this big move, but I have to...or I will loose all of my clients. I wish I would have seen this site before I signed up with them...
Ba yonggen, 15th 2008 February, 2008
Signed up about one years ago and everything has been gone well, especially the great customer support.
The best windows web hosting Service offer.
Herb York, 01st 2008 February, 2008
Visit my website at www.astromart.com and register. I need the money.
Roger, 08th 2007 December, 2007
Signed up for VPS, server went inaccessible about an hour after I started setting up my site and couldn't even be restarted from the control panel. About 14 hours after submitting support ticket, I got a "sorry for the delay -- we're working on it" response. Waited 4 more hours, nothing, so I just sent them a "cancel" request. Since I'm supporting hundreds of online merchants, I can't even THINK about putting my sites on a such a poorly supported service. Wish I had read this page before signing up.
Robski, 31st 2007 October, 2007
I must admit I've been using this host for the past 4 years and they seemed ok in the beginning. This past year has been nothing but outages and extremely poor customer service. This is exactly in line with what everyone else has mentioned. Bottome line: STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOST
Eerie Inhabitant, 19th 2007 October, 2007
Get off if you're on it, don't get on it if you're not. Bad, bad, bad.
Fixed - Explaination #2, 17th 2007 October, 2007
Periodic? Uh huh. BTW, these notices are of little use when customers' e-mail and webmail is offline. Whatever, at least they haven't gone out of business...yet.

We are currently experiencing intermittent network connectivity issues, in which large DNS servers (Yahoo, AOL, Verizon) are periodically unable to resolve domains on our network. We are working directly with CISCO to identify and resolve this issue as soon as possible. System status will be updated when further information becomes available or when the issue has been resolved. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you and appreciate your continued patience.
Fixed - Explaination #1, 17th 2007 October, 2007
4pm?!? I DON"T THINK SO! Try 12:45AM Eastern.

At approximately 3:20pm EST today (10/17/2007), we experienced an internal network hardware malfunction. While EasyCGI is fully redundant, this malfunction caused routing problems that resulted in temporary downtime for certain pieces of our network. Because of this downtime you will have experienced slow response times or random inability to utilize services provided by EasyCGI. EasyCGI was immediately aware of this issue and was working to restore services. Service for most customers was completely restored by 4:00pm EST, while a small portion of customers experienced problems until 4:29pm EST. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and thank you for your patience.
Str8ShootR, 17th 2007 October, 2007
Another dissatisfied customer.

I must admit that my "two week" timetable last June (see below) was extended a bit... like to the end of this month. We do have all hardware, software and labor in place for the in-house mail server (which we're doing in concert with switching hosts), but my bad for letting this fester so long.

That said, EasyCGI has blown it again. No e-mail, no websites, their website is down, their toll-free number is knocked out - I was lucky just to get through once to leave a worthless voice message.

Right now I have angry clients, angry co-workers, and a mess of work for the morning including the public unveiling of a new website. Great, huh? This is my fault for not acting faster, but it shouldn't be this way to begin with.

Each time this happens I can't help but fear, as Fred Sanford would say, that "this is the big one" and they're never coming back online.
Jay, 17th 2007 October, 2007
I'm getting a little worried about my sites...I have 3 sites on easycgi and my clients are getting angry.

John, 17th 2007 October, 2007
More downtime:

Over the past few months, there have been a number of outages (including the one which occurred of 6/8/07 mentioned by another reviewer).

It is 10/17/07 and both of my websites hosted on easycgi.com have been down for the past few hours. Their home page is down also, which means users can not create a "trouble ticket".
I sent them an e-mail earlier in the evening, but have received no reply.
I tried calling the 866 number listed next to the review and got an operator saying "All of the circuits are busy. Please try again later."

Other downtimes include:
Aug 2007: overall slowness (may be due to too many databases on their servers, as another reviewer mentioned, but I'm unable to verify)

Aug 2007: complained to me that someone complained to them that my newsletter was spam, yet easycgi routinely lets 20-30 spam messages A DAY through their "filters".

July 2007: intermittent slowness and "problem loading pages" error.
July 10, 2007: site down for over 4 hours for an unknown reason

6/8/07: sites down, received an e-mail later (after I complained) about how they were experiencing trouble with their upstream provider.

April 2007: intermittent "problem loading page" errors

I could go back further, but you probably get the point- about once a month or so, the sites suffer some kind of downtime.

Are these downtimes enough to break their "99% uptime guarantee" (or however they word it)? Maybe not, but having an e-commerce site down for hours on end can hurt a business.
Carioca Paris Sawah, 31st 2007 July, 2007
Just impossible to depend on their services. We had a VPS service for 8 months and after a series of, often, outrages which usually lasted from 30 minutes to half a day our server was down for 3 days and could not get the service back up. This occurred between 07/25/2007 to 07/28/2007. Luckily we moved to another company on the first day and to a fully dedicated server.
We only used their VPS as a mirror and backup to our in house Email Server but several times it crippled our operation and our company don't have more than 40 email accounts on the email server and our average monthly bandwidth use was only 1.5GB.
During these 3 days period even their main web site was out of commission in several occasions. Support was out of question because they would not consider the tickets you opened probably because they could not keep up with the amount of complains coming in. Phone support told me a tale and the server would be up in no more than 15 minutes and this was on the first day.
So, if you need your web site up and running, reliable service and peace of mind just don't consider easycgi. Try any other service that a friend may have had a good experience. Don't trust the number of stars this site here gives to easycgi because it is certainly not true.
Jeff, 23rd 2007 June, 2007
Give deepbluehosting.com a buzz, and see if they will help you.
Ive found them to be a great company!
Very professional.

Here is what easyCGI had to say about their latest outage.

I guess that this could be a Positive or Negative on how you look at it. Our staff would have preferred to know this a lot sooner than 4 days after the fact.

On Friday, 06/08/07 at 11:15am EST we experienced a very large Distributed Denial of Service attack (DDoS). Our network engineers immediately responded to this and began taking steps to mitigate it\'s effects and had the problem completely resolved by 12:40pm EST. The total amount of time Easy CGI was affected by this attack was 85 minutes. During this time you may have experienced an intermittent connection or no connection at all to our network.

While Easy CGI normally sustains many Internet and DDOS attacks without affecting customers, unfortunately this attack was successful in compromising core equipment. In working with Cisco, we discovered that this attack was exploiting a recently discovered Cisco vulnerability. At this point we immediately blocked access to this from the outside and executed an emergency upgrade of the Cisco IOS.

We strive to provide the highest uptime possible and we are proud that we are able to do so almost all of the time. We feel terrible that this downtime lasted as long as it did. However, we did handle this issue extremely efficiently compared to some other providers that underwent the same attack on Friday.

There were other hosting companies whose customers experienced up to 7 hours of downtime due to the same attack. We are confident in and stand by our actions that greatly reduced the amount of downtime for our customers, in comparison. We apologize for the inconvenience this had caused and thank you for your patience and continued business.
Str8ShootR, 08th 2007 June, 2007
I have been with Easy CGI for over 4 years. I have 6 sites hosted for work and a couple personally, plus about 30 domains, easily spending $1,500 annually. Their tech support was always competent but unfriendly, but up until the past 6-8 months they were rarely in need. Recently however, Easy CGI has gone IN THE TOILET. We began getting quarter-day outages on a monthly basis, then every two weeks, and now this week we've been down for a period almost every single day. Sometimes the issue is "just" our e-mail, other times it's our entire website. I have other Easy CGI websites that stay live at times, on other occasions all sites - including easycgi.com - are completely down. Support is nearly impossible to reach, and the problems are somehow *never* their fault. Plans are in the works to be gone, gone, gone in 2 weeks and have all domains and accounts transfered by the end of June. THE EASY CGI SHIP IS SINKING FAST - GET OFF NOW!!!
JZ, 08th 2007 June, 2007
downtime and more downtime...

had them for 2 years but since 2007 service has gone way downhill.

today entire easycgi site is down for hours, no servers seem to be working.
Bill, 08th 2007 June, 2007
Tech support at Easycgi has been greate
TVC, 23rd 2007 May, 2007
Signed up about 6 weeks ago, and will be leaving them shortly. Dissatisfied with support response time. If you need the FPSE, beware. They don't seem to be able to configure them correctly for our sites.
Alex, 17th 2007 May, 2007
Too much of a down time. Even if it is for a short period of time, but often. I am running e-commerce and sometimes the site goes down while my customers process their orders - NOT COOL! No real customer support either - answering machine and take forewer to return calls. Their servers are not good - the representative gave me the explanation why my site is down - "Your site is on a server that CONSTANTLY gives problems. We are working on it" How about REPLACING the server that CONSTANTLY goes down ???!!! I am definately going somewhere else.
Christie, 15th 2007 May, 2007
I used them for a bit and then decided to go to providerwebhosting.org because they were giving away free domain names. I may keep my account here as well though
Gregory Grigoriou, 22nd 2007 April, 2007
Forget about easyCGI. they are NOT easy at all. they are in fact the worst host i have ever had, and i have some sort of MAJOR issue with them once per month.

they do not return calls promptly, they are down far too often, and if your site is remotely important to you, put it in better hands than EasyCGI. i would only recommend easyCGI to my competitors.

I am in fact leaving them this week, having had NO access to my email and ftp for almost 3 days straight.

In fact, even portions of their own site appear to be down at the very time i am writing this.
Chris, 11th 2007 April, 2007
I transfered to Easy-CGI from WebHost4Life. Their service was terrible from the get go, but their network did really well. Their network has dropped 2 times in the past month, and services have locked up 3 times. We are now transferring to our own dedicated server. DO NOT use them if your websites are critial to remain up. 99% is not true in our mind.
S.P., 10th 2007 April, 2007
Too much downtime; site has been down for 2-4 hrs at a time for 3 times withing last one week!! Unacceptable...
RJ, 10th 2007 April, 2007
I must said that even the prices are "OK", the technology doesn't seems to be so good! I have experience downtime (that is not acceptable for my clients) and even my internet connection is good, the connections through FTP with all my sites under this hosting is so slow and usually crash down.

It's just a good price from my point of view.
Aris, 27th 2007 March, 2007
Well answer machine rule, also I have problems and wait many hours for some one answer to my tickers.

And the documentation to setup the vpn is poor and this is result to need a little help from them, that I can not find.

In general the speed is good, the programs is good, the price is good.

But no real fast support. The fast one is the salesmen.
M.T., 15th 2007 February, 2007
Too much down time.
Liona, 10th 2006 November, 2006
Take care, I don't know how they get that rank, the support is under minimum, if you are not expert in managing website don't ask this company for any hosting
Alex, 06th 2006 June, 2006
