Stay AWAY. Took my money and won't give it back and I was within my trial period!!!!
Ignatius, 14th 2011 July, 2011
I m so happy to see so many ex user stand up to address the issue of ipower, i m one of the group too. IPOW"DER" suck!! It is a full powder to smoke you through the journey wit their super sucky control panel which always causing problem to extra payment! If you are any existing customer, i had a very unplesant info to share. My "dead" account was suddenly found become "undead" how did i find out, becos it bite my credit card!! A "pro" plan which had been scheduled for non auto renewal after first year of shit suddenly become active and charged me for 2 months hosting fee!! They explained i had paid for 2 months but never explain why and how this is happening!! As a consumer, i have no idea how to get my money back, and they simply a thief or something, now i have to change my credit card to prevent them from further charging "hidden bill" to my card! So guys and gals, IPOW"D"ER is not the only option we got, they are plenty out there, we shall stop this kind of scam from surviving in the market. I also experienced the site down for no reason and explaination, ftp access suddenly turn off and then support team tell me to change master username and password which is not relavent to the issue. Best part, they locked my last account's domain name, so i cant purchase it. Such a smart company, when nothing to leech you, they bind you.

*In case it cause some confuse, the IPOWDER i refering is IPOWER hosting company. It SUCK!

iPower.com is horrible. I have been using for a while. I used them for several sites and two of them are for Moodle courses, where I have uploaded files for the courses. Then, all my sites and e-mails are all suspended owing to the file sizes. But I am using "unlimited" but they says is "your disk usage was far outside of what we expect and potentially affecting other customers on our platform."
Greg, 26th 2011 May, 2011
Do NOT rely on this Company for Domain renewal. Their Customer Support is NON-EXISTENT and Customer Service is in the toilet. Oh hold for 20 minutes to speak to someone who cannot/will not fix the problem, REFUSE to transfer or escalate the problem, PROMISE to resolve the issue, then CLOSE the Help Ticket without doing ANYTHING. A long time customer but I am done with them now and transferring multiple domains I own to another provider.
Jason Greene, 21st 2011 May, 2011
Ipower is the worst in support and is often down.
Henry Chandler, 15th 2011 May, 2011
My site went down days ago when they failed to install my ssl key. This is the worst host company ever. Customer service would all the chat and phone are only message takers who blame customers for problems. I could rant for hours but suffice to say you should stay away from I Power at all costs.
Peggy, 24th 2011 April, 2011
Cancelled my account. Got a confirmation. My credit card was charged a couple of weeks later. This company is cumbersome to contact.
Archer & Keystone, 28th 2011 March, 2011
I have purchase their design package for thousands of dollars.

It took almost two years to build. How awful is that? Then I cant use my e-commerce store because it was not built properly.

This was my first experience on my own with ecommerce using Ipower. Its going to be my last with Ipower.

i am filing a law suite in small claims for incompetence and hours of lost manpower time.

My advise to anyone who is trying do business online, dont do business with ipower.

You will spend the rest of your business life on hold with an ipower rep., who does not care.
Damned you, Ipower!!!!
Steven Berger, 04th 2011 March, 2011
6-year VPS customer--but not any more. Even as self-manager of server, I cannot stop IPower from taking down my server and letting it rot unattended for 5 days. Lost all my customers. If you want to burn your website business to the ground, host with IPower. Shout out to Caleb, who decided to go home instead of helping me with my downed server--let alone honor that promise to call me back. Thx, dude. You're the best VPS support agent ever...87 hours since you promised to call...give that man an award. Yes...that's it...the one that says "retard" on it.
Matthew, 03rd 2011 February, 2011
DO NOT HOST with.

Probably the worst support I have received ever.
The tech support guys don't even know what an active server pages is.
Ticket system is useless - with extremely long delays.
Our website was down for 7 days due to a DNS issue they couldn't fix - but did not provide an update on for 6 days so we left.

mySQL servers consistently crash and the App pools freeze all the time and you have to create a ticket for them to refresh it - which takes them hours to fix.

I've never written a negative review about a company till now.

They have lost sight of the fact that they are providing a service - and they do not offer service.
Flora, 30th 2010 November, 2010
I have been a long time customer of Ipower but recently had such a BAD experience with their website design division that I feel it necessary to spread the word. I wouldn't recommend this company as they are not honest nor trustworthy. To boot - they won't return my calls and I am trying to find out what my options are at this point.
Robert Glasco, 27th 2010 August, 2010
decided to opt out of credit card payment, took my money out 3 months later, tried to get money back but say have to pay early cancel fee Plus my site is not even up, have to go to bbb about this not letting them steal my money, do not host with them.
Robert Glasco, 27th 2010 August, 2010
I did not need my website anymore and opted out of my credit card payment. I double checked and it was setup correctly and they took the money anyways, also my site is not showing up even though they took my money. I called and tried to get my money refunded and was told that there would be a 35 dollar early cancel fee. I am going to the bbb about this, not having them steal my money for service I am not even getting or want anymore.
iristrx, 24th 2010 August, 2010
Keystone Kops exercise.

Their screw-up killed my email, costing me considerable business.
Tech implied it was my fault, but she fixed it anyway.

I'll file a complaint with FTC and California AG.

Then, I'll switch hosts.
irisatrx, 24th 2010 August, 2010
I just learned that my IPower email address has been non-functional for quite some time since my email space was limited to 25 MB -- instead of 250 MB. No telling how much business I've lost
No apologies from Tech, who suggested it was my fault.
I'll file a complaint with Federal Trade Commission and Atty General of California.

Somehow, I think if their communications link with the business world were cut off, they might be upset too.
slick, 30th 2010 July, 2010
Left them in 2006. Now they are calling saying my account is still active. I have to access their control panel to close my old account. Avoid Ipower and Startlogic like the plague
Forrest, 08th 2010 July, 2010
These assholes declare they own my domain name, because I didn't do something I didn't know I had to do....They shut down mailboxes for lack of use, don't use them, may they go down darkly.
Bentley, 17th 2010 May, 2010
Horrible company. The worst I've ever dealt with, of any kind. They probably burned me for 200-300 man/hrs of unbillable time over the course of five years having to deal with problems they caused.

SQL servers constantly crashing, non-existent tech support with 45-60 minute wait times the norm. They disabled one of my sites stating copyrighted material storage ... even after I clearly indicated I was the copyright holder. (graphics, photography and vids I produced ... suitable for children to view)

A year after changing registrars and hosting company, iPower continued to bill me for hosting renewal. I was lucky, when things went south after a couple of years of spotty performance, started paying them by check .... not a credit card. Now, they'll get nothing from me ever again.

Run, don't just walk away from these crooks.
Dave, 09th 2010 May, 2010
I agree with the negative comments. Their service is horrible! I have 3 domains...andTech Support is no help. .
Dave, 09th 2010 May, 2010
Avoid them at all costs! Their incompetent Techs are clueless as well and their customer service is horrible.
Dave, 09th 2010 May, 2010
I have 3 different domains with Ipower and will be ditching them shortly. The customer service is the worst that I've ever encountered with any company. The Techs are clueless, no matter what the problem is...and they open a ticket for the "Specialists" to handle the problem. A weed goes by and the issue still isn't resolved. In addition to these "Specialists" that are so called working on the issue ....nothing gets done and they don't even answer your requests for an update. Dealing with Ipower has been the most frustrating and angering experience I've ever had with any hosting company. Their incompetence is compounded by their ignorance. If you're looking for a hosing company....avoid them at all costs.
Mad as hell, 23rd 2010 April, 2010
part of my site is still down and its one week after due to the hosting env hacking?!
Aditya Menon, 15th 2010 April, 2010
They are an excellent host. I don't know about 10 years ago, but I'm with them since 3 years, and there has not been a single tear from me because I signed up for this company.

Ipower has helped me build my web career, and I am very, very happy with their tech support, I never called them on the phone, always only by chat. In the past 3 years, I was down only once (both email and websites), and I don't mind that.

Thanks a lot Ipower! We love you.
frank k., 14th 2010 April, 2010
where do i start? customer service is awful. technical problems galore. site was hacked... twice. email buggy. they even lost my business domain name (scheduled for automatic renewal) because of a technical glitch. avoid this company!!!
RESMarketingDotWS, 11th 2010 February, 2010
I have multiple domains through IPower and have not experienced any of the problems listed on the board.

No bandwidth issues, tech support issues (it's all handled in realtime online if I have a question to ask), and no down time since hosting with them more than 8 years ago.

I even manage domains that are not purchased through them, example resmarketing.ws).

The CPanel is simple to use. How can you make a mistake when everything is clearly labeled?

We use FileZilla to make major changes to our sites via FTP and the updates are live the moment we refresh the screen.

I don't know how so many could have problems.

We love IPower.
Mukul K Sharma, 30th 2009 December, 2009
I am using ipower for lat two years. The time was never smooth. There were multiple problems:

1. They say unlimited hosting but they control it by 1500GB. If you feel this is the space you will not use, I should tell you, not all the people use all this space but some really do.

2. There is problem while doing setup of new hosting account. Some time session save path is not correct and some times global variable setting problem.

3. There is not a dedicated user friendly url for web mail. It always uncomfortable to remember the RL they provide for webmail.

4. They claims to pay $100 as commission for affiliate sale. But for last few months, they really have stopped paying any single penny. If you ask them to pay your commission, they will tell you reasons one after one until you don't stop talking about your commission. If they don't find a valid reason, they simply tell you the sale has not been done by your affiliate link, even the sale is reflecting into your account and showing your commission.

5. The email support actually don't reply with proper details and you just keep asking for more details of the issue but it looks like they are handicapped and too weak to write any single line.

6. The Telephonic customer care is not really helpful and they have few certain lines to say all the times, if you call them, you will certainly feel they customer care people are not really even courteous to you.

I feel all these issues in last two years. Still kept going with the company. But in last they rejected my 3 continues sales and did not pay me my affiliate commission. Now I found a ten thousand times better another company who has ultimate services and I am shifting to them.

May be IPower has a lot of business that they feel they don't need to take care of their customers and customers are not valuable for them.

So be ready for unlimited and ultimate issues, if you are planning to buy hosting from IPOWER.
Paul, 30th 2009 October, 2009
Ipower has turned into a horribal company since being sold. They fired off all the american tech support and now send all of thier support calls to India. Though, they trick you buy using americans to answer thier sales calls. STAY AWAY FROM IPOWER! Since moving thier tech support to India, they take forever (days or weeks) to try to fix problems (the techs on the phones arn't really techs, they just put your information into your support center where someone will eventually get back to you) and are generally unable to fix anything! I will never do business with this company or any of it's affiliates ever again. Please, for your own good, find another hosing company!
Joe, 27th 2009 October, 2009
This company is a JOKE! Once they have your credit card information they will continue to bill you for your domain name AND privacy even after you tell them to close your account, which you should be able to do online like most other companies, but you have to do it via email. When you try to close it the keep telling you they have to verify it and ask for info which they already have and NOTHING gets done after you give them the info!! They bill you for your domain and privacy one month before it even is set to expire!!!!
ipower 10 years, 26th 2009 October, 2009
been with them 10 with multiple websites. They used to be good, but a few years ago when they switched to cpanel they went to pieces, lots of down time, support people are just plain stupid and rude, no one knows anything, viruses, low max rate for databases and bad bots all over the place and their answer is buy more querie limit..? we have not been able to do any database entries as we max out all the time..they just stink backups only saved for 3 days...i am bailing after 10 years
Raymond, 02nd 2009 October, 2009
In fairness, iPower went through a huge upgrade - NOW, recently it has been the best sice I stated in June 2004. Th econtrol panel is even more user friendly and email tech support is the way to go - fast and efficient - call them it is a realy complicated issue. Write for a simple fix and it will be done quickly. Nice improvements - after a period of problems. Still one of the best.
Miriam, 01st 2009 October, 2009
Terrible, terrible company. My website's launch is today and, how humiliating, I have to tell everyone that my hosting provider is down AGAIN. No one can access my site at all. Tech support is terrible. Talk about a bunch of retards. All canned responses. I don't think anyone actually knows anything about web hosting, scripting, servers, websites or anything else at that company!
Wily, 25th 2009 September, 2009
I bought hosting plan from them, nothing yet, 6 hours later.
customer, 26th 2009 August, 2009
IPower are awful - stay away.

After wasting hours on the phone, nothing ever happened despite the e-mail from them saying that my problem was resolved..

DO NOT EVER, EVER, EVER USE THIS COMPANY.

i am currently # 82 in the que for "live chat" and tech support is actually just to take down your info after you've waited 40 minutes to talk to someone. And after all of that NOTHING HAPPENS and you still can't send or receive e-mail.

This is the WORST COMPANY EVER.

Ipower really is consistently BAD.

DO NOT HOST WITH THEM.

Look through these reviews - you will have to scroll a while down (someone has deliberately made it difficult to read comments) , but back to 2006, it is consistently the same message. IPower is the worst of the lot. There is unlikely to be a webhost that reaches the depths of negativity that IPower has achieved for its customers every year, recently.
terry mitchel, 21st 2009 August, 2009
I agree with all the negative comments. I have only one site still with iPower and it has been down since April 9, 2007. They did a "simple" move of my site to another server, saying the move would be absolutely transparent. NO WAY! It hasn't worked right for the last 30 days!

Tech support is no help, customer service is no help, the ticket is supposed to be with a Tier 3 tech, but has been for the last week.

I have to move my site to another provider. I absolutely HATE iPower!

Avoid them at all cost.

To sum it up, when it's time to renew the IPower contract; I sincerely hope there is something out there that is better and more reliable than IPower.
Linda Dark Horse, 15th 2009 June, 2009
iPower is the worst company I have ever dealt with! Ive had my site with them for almost 5 years now and the email goes down constantly! Their customer service is run by idiots, one of which talked me through a fix which too us offline for FOUR MONTHS! We just launched our eBook and did a bulk mailing to drive sales, and the very next day the entire site is GONE, GONE, GONE! In a word, IPOWER SUCKS !
Ipowercustomer, 15th 2009 June, 2009
I power hands down is the WORST company to deal with. They're having tech. issues today as they always do. We called as a regular CUSTOMER to ask what is going on since everything at their end is shut down including their own site. They were so UNPROFESSIONAL that they simply were hunging up the phone on you, or pretending they couldn't hear you. This is NOT Zimbobwae, or some dictatorship country where you rob your customers. This is the United States!!!! Live up to your standards and give your customers the treatment they deserve, or get out of this business!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joseph, 08th 2009 June, 2009
Poor customer service. They tried to bill me for Privacy privilege 2 years into my 3 year contract. When I first signed up in 2007, Domain Name privacy was FREE. All of a sudden, as soon as I updated my credit card on file, they charged me for the Privacy. Customer service through LiveChat will cost you hours at a time, and they don't want to refund your money.
steven, 06th 2009 May, 2009
I just look at the Coupon section and it stated that iPower have 89% positive rating. On the left hand site of this page you have the company profile that stated that there are "

There have been 306 positive votes for Ipower and 221 negative. And overall company rank on our directory is #50 (similar companies are globat.com and valueweb.com)

How much bogus is this. You guy should be ashame of running this BS review site. You bum up the rating to promote iPower so that you can get the kick back from them. The link goes staight to their site. I smell a scam more that a legit review site. I hope this will give peple think twice about reading some of these review.
IXWebHosting, 30th 2009 April, 2009
IXWebHosting is way better.
TERRIBLE SUPPORT, 22nd 2009 April, 2009
BEWARE: Once you join them, you won't be able to get away from them. They've designed the management panel to trap your domain name. No means to point to other DNS servers, no means to transfer your domain name away, etc. You have to contact support for this. Currently, they are absolutely refusing to to change my whois contact info to MY OWN INFO. They're claiming that it's "impossible".

I have been trying to transfer a single domain name away from them for over a month now and they have fought me the entire way. My account was about a month away from requiring renewal. I set it to not renew and even told them that I intended to close my account. That was obviously a mistake.

The process just so happened to last passed my account expiration and now they're trying to tell me that I have an unpaid bill. Ridiculous.
Scott, 15th 2009 April, 2009
IT'S A SCAM AND EVERYONE AT THAT COMPANY SHOULD BE ASHAMED.

ipower.com is a scam. Stay away. We spend hours on chat with them trying to clear up billing issues each month on domains we transfered and services we cancelled long ago. We have alerted our credit card company to not allow charges. But, we still get harassed by email that we owe them money.

The changed our free domain privacy to a 'for fee' service. That's shady, but what's worse is it's domain privacy feature for a domain we no longer have hosted with ipower.

They want us to pay for 'domain privacy' even though the domain is no longer private. They are providing NO SERVICE, but demand we pay because we did not explicitly cancel the privacy option when transferring the domain out.

STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU LIKE GETTING RIPPED OFF!
Scott Peters, 30th 2009 March, 2009
Hell, absolute crap.

My site was hacked like this one (http://www.xeromag.com/zlob2.html), support said it must have been me, poor up time, etc. stay away from this terrible ISP.
Jacob Uzuncan, 26th 2009 March, 2009
They changed their platform which so my formfill order page stopped working on website. They told me that is was not their resposibility and charged me to fix it. I paid them because it was not worth the hassel. They never fixed it to work the way it used to. When I brought it up to them they told me it would cost me even more to get it to work how it used to . This has to be the worst customer service I ever had. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS WHAT SO EVER!
jay, 12th 2009 March, 2009
Like the rest of the hosts I have tried they suck, support, vdeck, it all sucks.

Be carefull because the aslo own many other hosts, like fat cow, etc, etc.

The only good host I have tried and like is surpasshosting.com, only problem is email only support. But they are great if you can deal with that!

absolute cr@p host.

Well deserved "worst host of all time" acolade

A non existant service, for too high a price
Bonnie, 23rd 2008 December, 2008
I was with iPowerweb a couple years ago, and left due to poor service. When I needed help with any issue, I had to wait on the phone for great lengths of time and even then it was doubtful I would receive the help I needed. At the end, when I decided I'd had enough of iPowerweb, it was difficult to close the account and get everything transferred. I finally moved over to ixwebhosting, where I've been for about two years now with excellent service. I like their customer service - there is a place within the control panel where you can create a "help ticket," which is always answered within a day, usually within a couple hours and there's no getting bounced around on the phone from one person to another.
Don't sign up with iPowerweb, because it will be a waste of your time.
John, 23rd 2008 December, 2008
WOW...reading these reviews for Ipowerless, makes me wish I had taken the time b4 I signed up with these incompetent fools.
2 years :-( yes 2 years of Ipower hell, I have withstood. I should get some kind of prize for endurance. This is not just the worst hosting company, it's the worst company period.
1. Forget about talking to anyone on the phone unless you use skype and can hang on hold for at least an hour waiting (no joke)
2. Plan on being billed incorrectly to the point that you may not no which way is up.
3. Plan on being scammed, i.e. domain privacy (this is where they scare you into paying more for your domain with the threat that your personal info will for sale if you don't pay for domain privacy)SCAM!!!
4. If you do get through on the phone, plan on speaking with Abdul who by-the-way, barely speaks a word of English. No offense Abdul, I'm sure you're a great fella but I speaka da English brosif~

Bottom line...This is my very first review I have ever taken the time to write. Take my word and ALL the words above me :-)
"I POWER IS THE WORST IN EVERY CONCEIVABLE WAY--STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THEM !!!!"
Eric, 16th 2008 December, 2008
My email (and they said every one else as well) is routed through a web tool, my clients get a different sender address at times and it of course goes straight to spam... ipower said they could not change this. this is unacceptable.
Elena, 10th 2008 November, 2008
Stay away from IPOWER!! THEY ARE BRIGANDS !! They charged my credit card for my domains already transferred, and for domain privacy also ! They said, yes , is our flaut, but they never give my monney back!! What a shame!

What shall I do? please I need help how to cancel it permanently. I recieved my credit card billing this am Php 424.31 without notification fron Ipower. My Gosh!!!
MAD AS HELL- STAY AWAY FROM IPOWER THEY , 10th 2008 October, 2008
THIS IS THE WORST-RUN COMPANY I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. I HAVE EIGHT DOMAIN NAMES WHICH I AM MOVING IMMEDIATELY.

IN TWO YEARS, AND EIGHT DOMAIN NAMES AND RENEWALS, IPOWER HAS NEVER ONCE GOTTEN MY BANKING TRANSACTION DEBITED, OR CORRECTED OR REFUNDED CORRECTLY.

IN ONE CASE, BEFORE I'D EVEN HUNG UP THE PHONE, A MYSTERIOUS FRAUDULENT DEBIT APPEARED ON MY CREDIT CARD, IN THE AMOUNT OF $9.05. I HAD TO CANCEL THE CARD!

I HAVE BEEN DOUBLE-CHARGED FOR EVERY SINGLE RENEWAL AND PRIVACY I HAVE EVER BOUGHT FROM IPOWER, AND EACH TIME IT'S TAKEN ME BETWEEN A WEEK AND A MONTH TO GET THE MONEY BACK - HOURS AND HOURS ON THE PHONE.

I AM CONVINCED NOW THAT IPOWER IS MAKING MONEY OFF OF UNSUSPECTING PEOPLE BY FRAUDULENTLY DEBITING THEIR BANK ACCOUNTS FOR SMALL AMOUNTS.

WHEN I REQUESTED A REFUND FOR THE LATEST ROBBERY, "CUSTOMER SERVICE" ACCUSED ME OF BEING "PETTY!!!!"

WHATEVER YOU DO - STAY AWAY FROM IPOWER.
Steu, 24th 2008 September, 2008
I have virtual server with them and the price is good. Service is terrible as they have standard responses for everything. My site has been down three days and we keep having the same conversations about it. I guess I have to buy the support package to get real help. Sometimes the communications seem like the person there doesn't understand English so well. I had high hopes for them but guess I'll have to move my site somewhere else.
Donna, 10th 2008 September, 2008
I've been with iPower for 3 years, sent a dozen emails, make about 50 phone calls, including to Endurance, who owns them.
I have one website and 2 blogs. Sometimes they helped with questions I had. But since the "upgrade" this year, they have been down all the time. Sometimes just for 10 minutes a day, but it appears to be several days a week.
3 times this week. They never admit it in events. Their own website is down, too, when this happens. If you have customers or people you care about reading your website, you will all be SO UNHAPPY AND MAD when they go down. And slow??? You won't even know you have DSL, because they're so bad.

Wah, now I have to figure out how to move everything.
Erica, 03rd 2008 September, 2008
Not a good hosting company. I've opened so many unresolved problem tickets this year. They upgraded their servers without notifiying us so website was down for quite some time. Also, email sucks , customers are not able to retrieve their passwords due to server issues. Technical support is a joke, they will give you a trivial resolution just to get you off the phone or you wait in line for several minutes for live chat just to have the technician disconnect.
I would avoid this provider, I have lost customers because of this service. Website takes 5 minutes to load sometimes.
This is a company that do not care about quality or customer service.
Walter G, 21st 2008 August, 2008
IPOWERWEB has to be the worst hosting company on the planet. Uptime stinks. Support stinks. They allow virus's to infect websites hosted on their systems.
AVOID Ipower.. ANY other hosting company will give you a better feeling.
Frank, 20th 2008 August, 2008
Ohh and btw, is this fitting or not. My website is www.fullofcrap.net

I just hope they get their act together one of these days. The pricing is excellent, but these hiccups I have gotten and the ones I am seeing others talk about are very disturbing. Now so far, I have not seen any down time for the actual site itself, which is good too..

Frank, 20th 2008 August, 2008
Well, I am here again. Seems their Ipower.com website is down, I cant access my control panel.

Good news is, at least my website is still up. And the ftp is available for now. I can get to Ipowerweb.com but when I try to follow link from there for control panel, it times out also.

Sigh.

Ipower reviewer, 07th 2008 August, 2008
Ipower really is consistently BAD on every level (except perhaps price- but why pay anything for rubbish and heartache?).

DO NOT HOST WITH THEM.

Look through these reviews - below - back to 2006, it is consistently the same message. IPower is the worst of the lot. There is unlikely to be a webhost that reaches the depths of negativity that IPower has achieved for its customers every year, recently.

Indeed IPOWER are beyond the pale - not just poor, but actively negligent with your data!

YOU CAN DO BETTER - well almost every other host is better I would suggest! , however, there are a FEW that really shine. BEFORE YOU CHOOSE A HOST, READ WHAT OTHERS HAVE FOUND OUT ABOUT THE HOSTS! A FEW MINUTES HERE WILL BE WORTH HOURS OF HAPPINESS DOWN THE LINE.......
Aaron, 29th 2008 July, 2008
STAY AWAY for the love of god. How is this host even in the top 10 hosts? Are there only 10 listed here? Server up time is horrible. Tech Support is clueless and helpless. Switched to ICDsoft and had a new account with them set up within a couple hours...rarely get an auto-reply from Ipower back that fast.
Frank, 21st 2008 July, 2008
I just called them and the tech support person said that it was somehow our isp. There are problems with ATT which is mine, and SBC ISP users getting to the main ipower.com website...

I have had tons of hiccups also with my email. I used to use them a couple years ago or so, and never had any problems at all. So I looked for them again, when I decided to build a site for a WoW guild.

The pricing was great, bandwidth and storage was great. But so far, I have to say with the email issues I have had, and the few times I have had to get in contact with tech support, I am starting to be leary. Especially with what I am reading here.

Overall I would have to say so far, their service has been fair, not exceptional, but not the worst either. Though if I cant get into my control panel soon to add some ftp users, that is gonna start to peeve me off a bit.

I am fortunate that the website I have currently is something for fun, not alot of visitors, no e commerce except for the occasional pay pal donations, etc.. So I don't have as much on the line as a number of you folks it seems. I hope things get resolved soon for all of us.
Charley, 20th 2008 July, 2008
Our website is down again since July 19. Even www.ipower.com site is down. Our website (and/or emails) has had so much down time. I have lost count of it. What a joke.
Rob, 20th 2008 July, 2008
IPower's web server has been off the air for the entire day (20 Jul 2008). I started hitting it at 0500; it is now 1700 - 12 hours of downtime! I cannot hit any of the hosted sites. I cannot even hit Ipower's own website(www.ipower.com) (even your link to them at the top of this rating page fails top get a hit).

I was looking for a web hosting service for my business and encountered this review site. The notion that IPower has average uptime of 99.924% is increduluous! Just my experience, alone, represents nearly twice the expected maximum annual downtime they claim to have.
Craig Wolf, 18th 2008 July, 2008
Down again for hours. Even their site is out.
Mark, 18th 2008 July, 2008
Anyone else noticing that ipower.com isn't online again this morning? and websites and e-mail are down?
DMW, 12th 2008 July, 2008
If you do ever get an iPower lawsuit going, please let me know at dmwhipp@gmail.com.

My best client's site is down right now. Somehow they screwed up the dedicated SSL I purchased and her retail site has been down for 3 days now.
headache, 07th 2008 July, 2008
There service is awful. I have been with them for 2 years. My website has been down sometimes for over a week. I also have had my email down and not working more than one time for days at a time. But the worst is, I do not know how, but someone was able download their web pages onto my server, under my domain name, and it was child porn!
MS, 06th 2008 July, 2008
We're looking into filing a lawsuit against iPower because of their disgusting incompetence and dishonesty.

iPower / iPowerWeb has the absolute worst web hosting service! Their customer service is non-existent, their tech support staff is completely incompetent, their uptime and outages are pathetic, and problems are never resolved quickly (if ever).

For example, we STILL have not gotten a resolution on one of our sites that has been DOWN FOR OVER TWO WEEKS so far, and it's STILL not fixed! It's an e-commerce site too, and iPower / iPowerWeb is responsible for thousands of dollars of lost sales, hours of wasted time, and damage to the client's image and reputation. Every time we've called for support, we've had to sit on hold for 30-60 minutes and start all over with yet another low level idiot tech who doesn't know what they're talking about, and they won't give us a direct number to anyone higher. They've wasted hours of our time on the phone, and iPower / iPowerWeb is so incompetent that they even told us at one point that the site wasn't hosted with them... they can't even find their own website hosting accounts that have been there for years! Absolutely pathetic. And after OVER TWO WEEKS, we still have gotten no response except "our technicians are looking into the problem." Yeah, right. Stupid doesn't even begin to describe these idiots.

They've lied to us numerous times that a manager would call us back and the site would be up within a few hours. The site is STILL down after MORE THAN TWO WEEKS of this garbage, and we have yet to hear from a manager. iPower is, by far, the worst hosting company.
In the hosting business, 26th 2008 June, 2008
If you all would stop buying based on ridiculous claims of unlimited disk and unlimited transfer then hosts like this would stop overloading their servers.

Choose a hosting plan appropriately sized and put a realistic price on what your business web site and email are worth to you - get a clue ... If you value your business tools at the cost of a couple of big macs you will get all you deserve!
mockery, 23rd 2008 June, 2008
all these negative reviews make a mockery of the ranking here on the site - the only way this company stays on any "top" list if by paying massive affiliate payouts - there is no quality factor involved... what a sham!
Zucky, 18th 2008 June, 2008
My ipower-hosted site has been hacked and malicious code installed on it 3 times in 3 years. Not once have they ever notified me. This last time Google notified me, telling me my site was flagged in their search engine. Terrible.

MY GOD... WHAT A JOKE !!! (and not a very good one at that)

First IPower charges DOUBLE for our services. When I call Friday (06/13, yeah I know Friday the 13th), they "said" they would credit one of the double charges.

That very afternoon, our e-mail stopped working (at 4:30pm). Called support (another bad joke) and got the run-around saying there was NO problem. The "person" on the other end even suggested that we (my company) get an Exchange Server and host it ourselves. Which I'm currently considering. Saturday, I finally got someone at IPower that seems to be somewhat intelligent and was willing to help me. The guy told me it was because of the migration to the new platform (and was willing to accept that). So, WE (yes, me and the tech support guy) changed the account password TWICE (a system generated password, and I changed it to something else). At this point I was able to do whatever it was I needed to do, (change contact information, etc.) and would finish Sunday (06/15/08)...Or so I thought...

Today (06/15/08), I tried to get into my account to remove some e-mail addresses...Not gonna happen ! "Invalid Account or Incorrect Password". This password (that was changed the previous day) wasn't working. Here we go again, another call to IPower (I'd rather call my ex-wife, less headache). I told support of my problem (again). So they go check on the "accuracy" of the password. While waiting, I decided to log into my account WITH AN OLD PASSWORD. It ACTUALLY worked and I got in.

So, I asked why didn't the new password work ? Seems like simple question... The following are the three responses that I received from their "tech support".

1st one - "We don't know why it didn't. We don't think you changed it." Basically calling me a liar !

2nd one - "I logged in fine, are you using the right password." YES THE ONE THAT I CHANGED IT TO !

3rd one - "I don't know what your problem is, so I can't help you." (After telling the airhead what the problem was three times).

Now, for those keeping score at home...

My company has been without e-mail (web or otherwise) for 3 days.

Can't get any help from IPower, since they will not acknowledge any problem exists.

When I change my account information (password, contact info, etc.) it reverts back to the old information.

And still no answer to my very simple question !

On Monday (06/16/08), I'll be talking to their "management" (hope they're not like the tech support people), and voicing my EXTREME DISPLEASURE of their service.

Then I'll look for another provider.

As for my domain, I'm not worried, I've been wanting to change it for some time, now I can.

Get Go Daddy...
Get Dyndns.org...
Get Yahoo...
Host your own...

BUT WHATEVER YOU DO, STAY AWAY FROM IPOWER... THEY SUCK A BIG ONE !

BillyBob, 07th 2008 June, 2008
Horrible service - ftp is down AGAIN today so I can't work on the site. They have mySQL configured to restrict the number of queries per hour, so forget trying to run a forum or shopping cart. I am moving both my domains as soon as I decide on a new host.

I can't stand ipower. I work for a professional web design company and have a ton of clients' sites hosted with ipower and trying to get any info through customer support about anything is a nightmare. Not to mention the whole vdeck upgrade, so many sites we had went down, so many passwords reset without our knowledge. This is the worst company ever! If I could charge them for the time that we had to spend on the phone with them instead of actually working, they would be our #1 client!
Rob D, 07th 2008 May, 2008
I POWER is a company of theives and liars. Bought a domain name last year, was billed 8.95. two days later 2 charges for 45 dollars each showed up on my account, when i called to inquire why, the re said he did not know, when asking for the charges to be removed they sadi it would be 60 days , and How about we just give you a credit on your account . I said NO return the money you were NOT auterized to take. It fianally took a call to my bank to have the charges removed. Sent I power a formal letter stating to close ALL of my accounts, and one year later those scumbags tried to put thru 16 charges ranging between 6.95 and 16.95. I had to remove my credit card from my bank completely and have sent the dispute to the fraud dept of my bank, The bank blocked 15 attempts at charges and one attemt got thru at 16.95. The bank is returning the charge and their fraud dept is looking into IPOWER. Have gathered all my info form last year and this and am forwarding it to the Atty gen office.and AZ BBB. As well as posting on every fraud site i know, and can find. 3 on your side is my next stop, and 12 news investigation team. If anyone out there has a class action suit on them for fraud let me know I am on board with you.

Well I will add my own horror story here with the others. I paid but never put my website on their site. After the year was up I cancelled but they stilll kept billing me. Not only for the original.com domain but they added on .biz. and .net. without even consulting me.

They wouldnt cancel told me to cancel. I couldnt cause I couldnt get into the site. I only got my money back after I contacted my credit card company who sided with me. Everytime I answered an email from them somebody new repliied saying the same old thing until I just got fed up and diidnt answer them anymore. They are HORRIBLE...Dont use them unless you want a lot of problems.

I have used IPOWER web hosting company for over the past two and a half years, in which I have a continued series of problems with the features IPOWER offers as part of their package plan.

The first was the Agora shopping cart software IPOWER offers as part of their package plan I purchased. I paid IPOWER's design team to set up the Agora shopping cart on my web site, which after hearing every excuse under the sun from IPOWER that it was set up right, but it in fact was not. I lost hundreds of dollars in sales. I finally hired someone from Agora to set it up correctly.

The latest problem is with Frontpage Extensions which clearly states on IPOWER's web site that they offer as part of the IPOWER PRO PLAN. However, according to IPOWER's tech support they do not in fact support all of the features of FrontPage which is false advertising.

I paid for a FrontPage-compatiable server, which IPOWER is advertising that they are. All of the features for FrontPage need to be supported - not just some of them. The supervisor said the same thing about Frontpage as IPOWER's design team said about AGORA shopping cart: "It is dinosaur software - Microsoft doesn't even support them any longer."

Well - what I'd like to know is, if Agora and Frontpage are such outdated softwares, why is IPOWER promoting them as part of their advertising? I think the only dinosaurs are IPOWER's tech support and design team who the majority are incompetant.

IPOWER's Tech Response: Unfortunately, we do not support Front Page subwebs feature. We simply support connectivity and publishing .

My VPS with IPOWER has been down at least 72 hours and the only answer I can get is "working on it" I'm so irritated. We also have some sites on just the regular hosting plans and they never go down, it seems like the troubles lay in the costly plans. This is Craziness!! I'm looking for new hosts now and advise webmasters to steer clear of IPOWER, their long hold times and rude Customer Service.

Ipower is horrible!! They don't answer your questions, insist that the problem is you and not the company and if they don't have a solution for a problem, they hang up on you! Then you have to call back and wait another 30minutes for some other rude "Customer Serivce" person to speak with! Ipower is HORRIBLE!!
Allison, 16th 2008 March, 2008
IPOWER was the best!!! At least, three or four years ago, they were. They ruined my site trying to move to from California to Maine. Why? I do not know, but if they would have told me it was going to be I could have planned. Instead I lost numerous jobs because I couldn't get my email fixed for two weeks. I'm a graphic artist and without my email and FTP my business stops. IPower has seriously damaged my business and they're oblivious!

Stay away from IPower, Startlogic and all the companies at Endurance International. If you're not sure where your host is go to http://www.tracert.org/traceroute/ and enter your host's name. If you see "EnduranceInternationalGroup" anywhere in the trace, DO NOT host your site there! In fact, if you are hosted by EnduranceInternationalGroup you better move your site before they ruin it and potentially your business.
Ex-ipower-2, 16th 2008 March, 2008
The class action lawsuit is gaining momentum! And we are going hammer Thomas Gorny (Ipower CEO) and the thieves at Endurance International!

Personally, I want to "contact" Gorny face-to-face before that cheat and liar runs back to Poland!!!
Marko, 16th 2008 March, 2008
Just downright horrible! My site has been down since Friday 14th March and still is. What's more, I can't even send them a complaint as their WHOLE SITE is down! Have they plugged the plug or what?
After my account was transitioned to the new platform, they sent me a self-satisfied e-mail stating everything has gone smoothly, but, just to make sure, I was asked to check their work myself. And sure enough, my MySQL database was gone! No backups, nothing. Had to start from scratch. Still waiting for them to reply to my inquiries about how it could be.
If my site is not back tomorrow, they have yet another customer joining the exodus...
Jason R, 16th 2008 March, 2008
AWFUL!!! The last 2 years Ipower has been getting worse! Now, under Endurance International, it's turned to complete garbage! We can't move our sites fast enough!

ipower does indeed suck. to top it off, since the switch to the new platforms you must log into the control panel via ipower.com which created problems today when ipower.com went down (luckly not the hosts just the company site). Bluehost FTW!!
Lindsay, 11th 2008 March, 2008
I love Ipower!, I have never run into any issues, ya sure the hold times are long but the customer support is the best i have ever encountered. I had to call maybe twice in the last few years since i have been with them. I had a few questions regarding vdeck 3.0 and how to navigate and update my credit card on file, and the one agent i spoke with, her name was Crystal, stayed on the line with me until i could figure out how to update my credit card as well as connect to my FTP and reinstall my front page extensions. Its pretty sad when all these people are complaining about them, if you dont like them dont use them, but you are missing out on a great company and i feel sorry for you.

I feel so much better now, 2 seconds ago I was so pissed at ipowerless that I was about to snap. I agree with all, they don't answer the fucking phone, chat needs a secret answer that I can't get into to create, they keep emailing me bad usernames/pw's that don't work on opensrs or their "platforms", they finally offered to consolidate my numerous accounts but haven't yet, their website is a joke... I'm going to spend the $88 to transfer all domains but I can't get in to cancel my CC. WORST COMPANY I've ever dealt with. I can't wait to "promote" them to ALL of my web customers.
GAIL, 01st 2008 March, 2008
IPOWER is definitely a shady org. Unable to get any response or respect from Support, I contacted the BBB. IPOWER simply restated that they were in the process of moving the domains to a new platform. Now, I am desperately attempting to break all ties with IPOWER, but they still have my credit card. I have this terrible fear that they will continue to charge me for domains and hosting long after I have left. How do I stop this SHADY CORP from racking up bogus charges on my credit card?

Terrible service! In February 2008 iPower changed my account to a new platform WITHOUT notifying me. All of my email accounts stopped working - incoming emailed were bounced back to my customers. I had to change my settings (passwords, ports, etc) for each email account and still it wouldn't work properly. I changed to a different provider on the 3rd day. It took almost 45 of phone time to get a refund from iPower.
Tyler, 27th 2008 February, 2008
I LOVE IPOWER!

I don't know why everyone is so upset! Ipower has been nothing but good to me since I signed up in December. The customer service is always more than helpful, and the ONE time I've had to call, the agent went above and beyond his 'scope of support' to fix my issue.

Complaining about a long hold time is an incredibly juvenile argument and holds no ground. You knew what you were getting into when you chose a large company to host your web page. It's common knowledge that large companies mean large hold times. I can't count the number of times I've called a store like Target or Best Buy and been on hold for 30 or more minutes. If you want a short hold time, don't sign up for hosting with one of the TOP 5 LARGEST hosting companies in the world.

I can't believe there's a "Best Support" award for iPower posted on this site. My experience has been the complete opposite: long delays to get an email response (up to 2 days!), confusion by support personnel regarding even simple requests requiring multipel email iterations, poorly worded email reponses, etc. Their phone support line takes a minimum of one hour on hold to reach a live person every time I've had to use it.

Our site has had reasonble uptime with iPower until about the last 18 months. Since then, we've experienced numerous server outages and MySQL server outages.

My advice: avoid this company if you expect or need decent support. It's just not there, despite the hype.

royann, 20th 2008 February, 2008
I am also very fed up with ipower. After wasting hours at a time on the phone, nothing ever happened despite the e-mail from them saying that my problem was resolved.

And when i tried to transfer my domain, i tried the link http://manage.opensrs.net
but could not get access to my domain info.

DO NOT EVER, EVER, EVER USE THIS COMPANY. The website is not helpful at all, i am currently # 82 in the que for "live chat" and tech support is actually just to take down your info after you've waited 40 minutes to talk to someone. And after all of that NOTHING HAPPENS and you still can't send or receive e-mail.

This is the WORST COMPANY EVER.

TRY THIS TO CHANGE NAME SERVERS, 16th 2008 February, 2008
For those who cannot change DNS name server for your domain name with ipower.com

go to: http://manage.opensrs.net

use your name and password that you recieved from ipower when you registered the name. (if you transfered to ipower and existing name, I don't know if this will work.)

You should be able to log in to opensrs.
1. change domain locking to 'disabled' then submit.
2. change the name servers and submit. 3. go to ipower control panel and change name servers.
4. go back to opensrs and lock the domain again.

that is what I did just now.

(never got through to support, and just thought I would try opensrs, since I am the owner of the name.

hope that helps.

I've never had a problem with Web Hosts until I had to use Ipower, from the start of last year I saw their great tech support decrease until a horribly managed "customer support" currently run out of the Philippines, started making customers wait on hold for up to 4 hours at a time, wait in chat support for also 4 hours at a time. I did research and found that last year Ipower Web took on 200,000 domains and has no way to support it, they are sitting on a huge backbone, and new servers that seem to have no management...All they can tell you is to "upgrade your package, and get a dedicated IP," well I don't think I can trust a company that has taken my site offline for 60 days, provided industry worst support, and is constantly covered up everywhere so that you can't even find out how horrible they are. Something is wrong with this picture because everyone that is skipping out on Ipower is doing so because they bought the 1-2-3 year contracts to get the better price, but now we have to get a new host that actually has REAL UPTIME, doesn't this scream CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT...I'm sure Ipower will mysteriously make this comment disappear just like all the negative web response, let me people know, if you are reading this you probably just had this happen to you, so don't stop hear, go right to the www.ftc.gov site, file a complaint, www.bbb.com , call your VISA or Mastercard get your fraud refrund. Ipower made a big mistake, don't @#!! with Americans.

I'm in ipower hell. I have had service with them for about 7 years and recently when I tried to update my site nothing would change. I have been going back and forth with customer "non"service for weeks with no resolve. Each CSR tells me something different and nothing works. I decided I would take my business elsewhere which I thought would be easiest... WRONG. I didn't know that ipower was controlling my domain and that I had to rely on them to help me change to a new registrar. What a nightmare. DO NOT USE IPOWER... DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY... THEY NEED TO BE DRIVEN OUT OF BUSINESS.

Don't even think about it!, 07th 2008 February, 2008
I got sucked in because of the cheap price and I've been paying the price ever since .Their support sucks, it takes 2 days to respond to support tickets; even longer. I wasted 2 phone calls, each over 30 minutes and none of them could help me, it was basically a call center not 'tech' support.

I'm still in the process of transferring my domain on ipower to a different register, and it has never been so difficult. It's a complete nightmare. I'm forced to renew until they can fix all their roadblocks and let me out.

FatCow is owned by Endurance International as well so do your homework as they own many of the well known companies so stay away from any company that they own best bet teach them a lesson if they have no suckers there whole network of cookie cuter crap that is Endurance will fold ...
Greg, 05th 2008 February, 2008
Just got off the phone with customer service. Over 30-minutes wasted. The CSR didn't understand English, nor FTP, nor Dreamweaver! She refused to transfer the call - saying that is NOT ALLOWED.

Stay away!!!!!
sm, 01st 2008 February, 2008
Run away! Run quickly! As others have mentioned, I've been with them for a few years now and once the servers were switched over, everything was completely messed up. Tech support is non-existent. I've stumbled across this review site during my search for a new host.
craig, 26th 2008 January, 2008
If all goes well I'm completely finished with this so called company.... I'm having a beer on this one. It's worth celebrating........ heeeeellllllll yeeeeaaah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
108billy, 25th 2008 January, 2008
everyone says leave now!!!! leave as fat as you can!!!!

But I cant! this is the only hosting company on the planet that wont give you access to change name servers!

Of course this is probably done becuase if we did have access there would be a mass exudos and they implode within a week.

They are holding me and all of my websites hostage. I am unable to change the name servers.

I think IM going to freakin pop.

Time for me to go on a vacation to Arizona.
JIM MASON, 24th 2008 January, 2008

Being that this is my first website and Ipower was my first hosting company I didn't realize how bad this company was until they forced me and my website to a new server.

The server switch rendered my site useless and I was down for over a month and I never recovered because they never fixed the problem.

it was truly a nightmare and my biggest mistake was thinking that Ipower was going to help and they never did. all the prior complaints are true. 2 hour waits were not uncommon just to be disconnected or given the run around. the tech support was ungodly.

the only thing that took me by surprise is that they did refund my money. I wan not expecting that. maybe they are realizing the hole they are in.

well, it was a wake up call. now I use Servint, It costs much more but the speed and the reliability and the tech support is top notch. If you own a website for the sake of running a business don't be foolish, not only would I avoid Ipower but I would avoid shared hosting altogether.

But I would have to say that Ipower is a true bottom feeder at this point. Do not do business with this company !
Christina, 24th 2008 January, 2008
Ipower is a train wreck. I have used several hosts in the past, and I am not sure how these people are still in business. Because os a total lack of customer service, they did not renew my auto-renewable account amd my sites went down for three days before they could be restored. This was the last in a long string of problems, so I cancelled my account and moved on. Then the auto-renewal worked when I didn't even have an account and they hit my bank account. When I approached them, they said that they didn't! So I had to open a bank dispute. They did a charge back and then they did it again! So I called them and they admitted they cancelled my account but would have to open a ticket with bi8lling who would get back to me within 48 hours. Well, as you can imagine, that didn't happen, so I am still in a total cluster trying to just get them out of my life once and for all. For now, I must sit on hold for hours until they answer the phone.

Interestingly enough, when I complained to the BBB, Ipower never responded to the dispute and they are members of the BBB. This will go on their overall record at least, and I encourage others to file reports. Maybe enough squeaky wheels will encourage them to improve their service.
Andy Maley, 20th 2008 January, 2008
So far i have had a good service with them. I am not too sure what their service was like in the past but for the past couple of months i have had good service for an almost unbeatable price. Here is my review

These guys were fine for 4 years and then they switched their servers. They broke everything on my site. E-mail, database, user authentication - I had to rewrite half my pages and spend hours on hold. I'm switching.

They are by far the worst, and the only way that rating on the side could be real in my opinion is that its been paid for, this host is known to do that with afiliate programs and such that look like a rev infact there reviews 98% bad were completely removed mmm wonder why? from a list on one well known web host rating site my gues is IPOWER threatend them to do so or paid them off ...

So do not trust that revew site any longer as in my opin there full of it, when I wrote to say why was IPOWER removed I got no reply so if they were honist they would repost IPOWER to the DB ...

Check it out IPOWER is no longer even in the list odd to say the least. you tell me infact write the company and see if they tell you why so with this in mind would you trust this review site I will not as I know for a fact there were hundreds of revews against IPOWER

http://www.webhostingjury.com/

plus they were caught red handed posting there own good reviews to help seed the net with good reviews well they failed too late no going back now need proof reed this and you be the judge get the word out lets force them out of busness they deserve that for screwing with the lives of business owners world wide http://hostjury.com/blog/view/39/ipowerweb-resorts-to-posting-fraudulent-reviews-on-hostjury

Endurance International we know you don't care well we have a surprise for you, the net is going to cause you more problems then you ever imagined it could, thus ensuring that this buyout will become your worst investment in history ...

For those that may not know they buy out web hosing companys so bewere when looking for a host as EI owns slews of them http://hostjury.com/blog/view/27/ipowerweb-ipower-clients-enduring-massive-problems

Be sure to join the proposed class action if you feel you been duped by this company
http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/just-say-no-to-i-power-web

VDECK no VWREC thats a joke all to gether try the new version its a pile of garbage if anything its not even based on Vdeck code anyone who used Vdeck will see this is no Vdeck its not user freindly at all you must hit your browser back button to get back and it is far from an improvement as was promissed all lies in my opin ...

The worst company ever! It would take several web pages to inform you of how many ways and reasons why this company should NOT be in this business any longer or make a 100% revamp. They were fine many years ago, but boy has it been a nightmare the last 3 or 4 years. Unethical, nonresponsive, security breaches, ignorant and/or indifferent cvrs, poorly functioning interface for Mac, failures to read actual questions asked, failure to provide correct answers to questions asked, implemented unauthorized changes, actually disconnected a client's site and released their domain name without any notification due to security breach, my email address was blacklisted twice and had to have the server switched because of security flaws (someone on the same server was sending viruses I presume). Currently, and oftentimes, cannot access my control panel or webmail, always in a catch-22 loop when they implement changes, failure to fully communicate changes: they make announcements of changes or new procedures but don't follow through with process. Just plain frustrating., incompetent, and awful. They must have gotten too big.
Jeff, 12th 2007 December, 2007
Anyone have a telephone number to Ipower? Or should I just walk to Phoenix Arizona and hope they will talk to me at their facility? 2-days, 7 hours worth of telephone holding to cancel an account which I canceled on October 8, 2007 but their systems had a glitch - again! See my Sept 03, 2007 posting.

For all who might read this scroll down to Causa Technologies review.

Have a corporate client (e-comm) with dedicated servers from Ipower, servers went down on Friday, 3-weeks after the fact they reply that they are working on the issue, with dedicated package supposed to have 24x7 response, backup and copy of web site (nope). Little did they know we moved the client to GoDaddy.com, GoDaddy has been so wonderful to work with, I now have several accounts with them hosting some 30 sites. No issues, No telephone wait time, 100% uptime.

Once again I am out of business because of IPOWER. My email accounts were deleted during server change over. It's been 2 days and still they have not fixed the problem. They are "very sorry". I am lossing money. DO NOT USE IPOWER.

I am looking for participants for a class action suit. Please send your information if you are interested to "processservers@psnwo.com.

Please allow sometime to send your message...IPOWER has that address deleted currently and SUPPOSEDLY it will be back in "24 to 48 hours".

Absolutely disgusting and unforegivable service.

This host is the worst ever! Hosted my VPS account.. it was down all the time. Their customer service is a joke. The guys there actually play around with you when you have a problem, like your service is down.
Stay away!!
Rob Santana, 02nd 2007 December, 2007
I have been trying to contact someone over there since last Thursday when I noticed my site was down but I am constantly on hold. Before my site vanished I have not been able to recieve email for weeks.

After staying on hold like a dummy I decided to call the press one for the sales dept. Guess what? My call was answered almost immediately. After I explained my problem the genius put me on hold to do look into my issues and he must have forgot about me because I was sitting there with the phone stuck to my ear for over an hour.

I called back the sales people several times, every time telling them about my site, before I finished the third time the sales rep cut me off and said "Yeah I know, you keep calling sales, you have to call billing because your site doesn't exist." You can imagine how shocked I was to hear this. Especially since I've worked hard on getting my site in a respectable position on google and yahoo under " EIFS Stucco Virginia "

They are seriously screwing up my business.

I have no idea how iPower was ranked #5. I signed up with them two weeks ago and last week I was without access to my email for two whole days due to some server issue on thier part. The "live" support is worthless. I tried calling and waited on hold for an entire day without ever getting to speak to someone. The live chat is also a joke. I sat on that all day, too. The first time I tried, it said my wait time was 78 minutes!!! I just let it sit there and 3 hours later I still had no one to chat with. I logged off and tried again. This time it said the expected wait time was 32 minutes. 5 hours later, still no response. This is totally unacceptable. I'm just glad I had this experience BEFORE I launched my website with them! What a disaster. I have since found a new hosting provider that is wonderful (EBD Hosting) and have cancelled iPower. Their sales department is entirely worthless, too. I called to cancel and sat on the phone for 20+ minutes waiting to speak to someone. When he finally came on the line he said that I would need to speak to billing and that his phone was "broken" and that he couldn't transfer me. His solution was for me to call back again and sit on hold for another 20+ minutes until another sales person could answer the call and transfer me to billing. What a joke! During this experience, not one person (in sales or billing) ever asked why I was cancelling my service or tried to talk me into staying with them. I guess even they know their product is worthless! I'm still waiting for my refund, so we'll see if this becomes a huge hassle, too...
Ken Hawley, 26th 2007 November, 2007
I've been trying to get a refund of $176.23 from IPower.Com since June 14,2007,for charging me for renewal of domain names that I did not want and did not request.Recently they put another 95.40 charge on my c.card for domain hosting of glamakazes.com that I had cancelled in June and that they "confirmed" at that time that I had cancelled! That domain name no longer exists on the web (or as my property) and hasn't since June 07 - so why would I pay 95.40 for web hosting it? I've written them a dozen or more emails so far and all I get is double talk and nonsense from them.I sincerely believe they're just trying to "Screw Me" out of my money!!! They're obviously incredibly incompotent too at IPower so I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else?
Mark, 24th 2007 November, 2007
ipower is ok if you're totally self sufficient but if you have any little issue their support is slow and absolutely worthless. the best way to get help is to call sales and threaten to cancel. I will not be renewing any of my sites with them. I can't handle 70+ minute hold times for support, NO notice of "upgrades" that limit my access and the random outages that are WAY more frequent than their advertised 99.9% uptime.
craig, 17th 2007 November, 2007
This is horrible I think we should file a class action. anybody in... They won't send me info to set up accounts.... this is crazy I'm glad I caught on 5 weeks in to this. LEAVE NOW SERIOUSLY!
Yury, 13th 2007 November, 2007
It's not luck of customer service we are talking about; we are talking about complete absence of customer service. Small example: I had a problem with my site and I requested tech support try to call, after waiting for 40 min send an email, after waiting for 5 days moved my domain to different hosting company.
Finally I received an email stating that there are problem with my code not with their configuration.
Very happy with new hosting company no code change need.
Stanley Krute, 13th 2007 November, 2007
Terrible awful evil.

Haven't been able to logon to my control panel for almost a week.

Support is useless. Support tickets are useless.

They have no idea what the heck they are doing.

Words fail me. I'm moving everything off of them. But I'm stuck until I can get to the control panel again so as to export the MySQL databases.

aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I just wanted to offer some advice. If your still looking for a web host, try NV Host if you need more personal support. They have personal representatives which I have enjoyed being able to call the same person - year after year - since starting with them in 2003.

I have been using ipower for 3 years now. This year is the worst I have ever experienced.
I have a number of domains and hosting and can not log into these accounts, nor can I receive any email. You have difficulty getting customer support if any. They have also emailed out information to another email address regarding password information which is not mine. I would strongly advise anyone not to use them. I dout they have a clue about the stress this is putting us though.

If I manage to get login back I will be transfering to another host provider asp.
Craig, 27th 2007 October, 2007
I have been using them for four years and this past year has been the worst experince ever. First three years no problem but as noted by many the tech support just SUCKS!!! They have no idea what they are doing I am sure that they are offshore and are reading scripts as they give the same pat reply to every issue and response. My site has been down for about a week now and I cant get my emails through outlook. This is the second time in two months that I have gone without my email which is critical to my business. The constantly say I apologize for the incovience and it will be fixed in two hours. Other response is it will be fixed within 24 -48hrs and they say its because mny site wasnt pointed correctly. What a bunch of BS. I have heard that same stupid answer for five different problems and nevr once was it the solution. they just billed me again for a year so I will stop that on my card and move my site. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS IF AT ALL YOU SITE IS IMPORTANT TO YOU!
Absolutely the Worst of the Worst, 26th 2007 October, 2007
I cannot believe that iPower does not have more Negative than 120. People must have forgotten to change the default submit to Negative.
iPower (and I am sure Start Logic, since it's owned by the same guy) is a crappy host. It was good a few years back, when I first started with a shared account. In fact, it bordered excellent. Unfortunately in the last year or so, they have fast gone down hill. Once they start billing, you play hell trying to get them to stop. I moved to a VPS at their recommendation and that has been a complete nightmare. Extremely poor knowledge in this area. I paid for a year and they could not get my site running, then when I asked to stay on the shared server, they billed me for the 3 months even though I could not use the VPS. Getting a refund is impossible as they have an automated system that will close automatically if you do not keep answering it. The trouble is you keep getting different people and they act like they did not get the initial messages and ask you to explain it again. I finally had to file a chargeback.

A few months later one of the techs was able to move me over to the VPS and get my site running, so I moved my site. Not only did I not get a refund for the unused shared host, but they billed me for another year. I had to file another charge back to reverse the year of shared server that I no longer had. iPower's response? They shut down my DNS. I kid you not. No warning or notice, they just shut it down and sent me an email from a non returnable address, that said to call them. After an hour on the phone waiting for support, I was put back into the queue to wait another hour for billing. I was told that before they would turn my DNS back on, I had to reverse the chargeback. Now keep in mind that I paid a year for the VPS and also paid 2 years for my Domain Name. I told them this was extortion and it was illegal, and they finally turned it back on, but messed it up. For their lousy $95, they were willing to cost me considerable business. I am talking to an attorney now and hope to be able to bring a class action against them, as they have done this many others.

Call support and you wait an hour. Send an email and you may get an automatic response in a day or two. Their support doesn't know what they are doing, except perhaps to copy standard fixes from a database. Also check out startlogicsucks.com. These are 2 very dangerous web hosting companies run by the same scam artist. I strongly advise webmasters to keep their domains away from their host, so they can move quickly to another host should their host pull a stunt like this.
Alex, 13th 2007 October, 2007
Fist let me tell you that I have registred and purchased hosting for about 60 differenet web sites (I am IT consultant).
IPOWER is worst hosting company and technical support i ever seen in my life. Feels like all customer service reps just start working there 2 hours ago. Never NEVER will use this serice again.
Dr Host, 13th 2007 October, 2007
Having just read the list of woes below, I'll keep this brief....

THIS HAS TO BE THE WORST HOST IN EXISTENCE (some of the things they do are just beyond the pale) They take the words "Bad host" to new depths
Mike, 30th 2007 September, 2007
I have been using Ipowerweb for 3 years now, support has been good but not great, uptime has been good. I screwed up recently and didn't update my credit card when notified so they couldn't renew my hosting, but they didn't nuke my site either, it stayed up (I just couldn't log in) until I paid up and then within a day I was back to business. Better than some companies would do.
Jeff, 21st 2007 September, 2007
Three years ago I purchased hosting with them. I never got a response back and never got charged from them either. When I contacted support they were like ???? Your not in our files & we don't know who you are. Thats not a company I want to deal with.
Heath Buck, 13th 2007 September, 2007
This is one of the worse hosting companies around. Not only was I down from June - July, like others have reported, but they are having the same problems again in September. Run from this company, it will fold soon enough. Do they care that you are down? No.
Jeff, 03rd 2007 September, 2007
Support, what support? If you send an e-ticket, be prepared to wait in excess of a week for reply. But they will be more than happy to cancel your account for you or take more money.

UpTime, in 7 months, usually down 4 hours per week, per site, ask them why...Duh!

Cannot access features in V-Panel, create user id and password for features then kaput. Send e-ticket, wait one week for reply "we've received your request for assistance", now after two weeks still no answers.

Hello Go Daddy, transfer of domains began yesterday.
Silvester, 28th 2007 June, 2007
I'm with them, since 2003, adding sites, currently 30 and now searching for a new host.

Technical Uptime: just great, over 99%

Email: just working great, uptime 99%

Additional services: response is just a disaster, you have to open several tickets/requests, until they respond back

Billling: permanently ovecharging every my account, I have to claim it back. They return after maybe 40 days

First tier support: disaster - they just can tell you how to start your Windows or CP, completely useless

Second tier support: they do, however it takes time, sometimes a week or more, mostly if it is a weekend, then you need to wait until Monday...

Value for money: low and expensive for resellers, maybe good for single home pages hosting

If they would change now their policy, to adopt CP/WHM, improve support and accordingly their pricing, probably I would stay with them

As far as Ipower goes, please read through as much of below comments as poss and you will see their true colours.

THIS HAS TO BE THE WORST HOST IN EXISTENCE (some of the things they do in 2006 are just beyond the pale)

HOW ARE THEY STILL ABLE TO OPERATE.?

AVOID THEM !!!!!

Their site is up! 12:19 Eastern Time
and so is mine. :)
Nadine, 14th 2007 June, 2007
they have a recording at that # now Jen and then it dumps you into the que. i have been with them for 5 years and until recently (say 3 months) they have been fantastic. now, i am seriously considering changing hosts. at least a new host company knows i can 48 hours before i am up on their servers!!! i am not on the v-deck and rather than work with me to migrate my account they leave me on a self proclaimed non-maintained server (Cpanel) and my site is down constantly. to press a couple of buttons they want 50 bucks from me or i have to do all the work .. it is their growth which i have participated in that requires the new server technology so why not just MOVE MY ACCOUNT to maintained equipment. i continuously have ftp issues now - which prevent me from maintaining my site with dreamweaver as opposed to their adimittedly convoluted cpanel system.
Kelli, 14th 2007 June, 2007
I have had ipower for years and it used to be pretty realiable, down once in a while for a few minutes and two weeks ago my email, ftp and cpanel all stopped working, when I tried to call them about the problem, i had to tell them my first password because they didnt have my current password and the last four digits of my credit card that I used over two years ago, as I had paid for two years in advance, so I no longer have that credit card and they advised me it expired in November 2006 and they wouldnt help me at all! Not my fault if they dont know my current password. I finally thought to call them again and tell them I can fax a copy of my drivers licesene to prove who I am, and then they transferred me to billing, which did help me out.

I have three sites on Ipower and all three are down today, and I noticed this around 10 am East Coast Time, who knows how long this will be down, and I am losing sales and people can not down load their orders, I need a better hosting solution, anyone know of a better hosting provider, that is actually up most of the time?
Jay, 14th 2007 June, 2007
My site just came back up.
Jen (again), 14th 2007 June, 2007
I called 602-716-5300 and they said it was a "server routing error" and that's all the info I could get out of them. It's pretty bad when their own website go down too. I'm terrified that all my data will be lost. :(
Erik, 14th 2007 June, 2007
Their having a major (undefined) outage. Even their own website is down. Try calling 1-888-511-4678
Jay, 14th 2007 June, 2007
The number on their e-newsletter I have been calling but I just get a circuit busy. The # is 888.511.4678 - I'm just going to keep trying.

number. thanks.
Jen, 14th 2007 June, 2007
I've been with ipower for about 2 months now. I've had database errors and outages. I installed Wordpress and 50% of the time my entries don't show up. My customer's can't shop. Their service is terrible, and they play the blame game all the time. I can't believe the incompetence of their techs. I thought I was getting into something good because the support isn't located in India. I was wrong, it's WORSE than outsourced support. I'd have moved to another host by now, but I JUST moved from another poor host. I'm very frustrated.
Pete, 14th 2007 June, 2007
I have to join the ranks of unhappy Ipower customers. I recently had a problem where the server said it was full and I could not add files even when this was not the case. Even deleting files and trying to add new (smaller) ones did not work - a server issue. Took over a week to fix and I was sick of being told they "appreciated my patience". Today, both my site AND Ipower (and I guess ALL their customers) are down. So I cannot even get tech support (cannot call as in UK - don't want to be on hold for an hour at high call tariff).

In mitigation, I will however add that Ipower ARE cheap and DO offer a lot of space/bandwidth for the money, at the end of the day though I would rather pay for more a website that is more reliabe.

Overall, sorry, my advice is avoid. Definitely if you are running a business, you just cannot afford to have a site go down for very long period.
GoCheapTickets.net, 14th 2007 June, 2007
I use iPowerweb for many of my sites. Today, my sites are down without notice, and I am unable to get on the ipowerweb site either. I have ads running and lost considerable revenue. The last two phone calls I made to ipower for customer support this week were met with rude and inefficient customer support people. They transferred one of my domains to THEIR parked page of google ads because THEY goofed up when I called them to update my credit card on all my domains. I just pausesd my PPC campaigns until I can figure out what is going on with my sites being down.
Davy, 06th 2007 June, 2007
I had a few problems with vdeck system of them... The had needed 26 days to fix my reported problems. I have send them 18 replays that i was still waiting. Every time the told me to be patience. Yeah fine 26 waiting. 3 phone calls with a waiting time of almost 1 hours and 13 chat sessions. And there are still problems.

I 'm already 5 year a client and the support was the worst every the problems that i reported on 12 may 2006 are still not finally solved!

Oh yeah 24/7 support?
Forget it!!!
No support at all.

And the level 1 techs have only contact with the level 2 techs by mail. And you don't get any contact with the level 2 techs. These techs are the people that must solving the problems!

So if you want to by a account by them please think about it!
Derek, 04th 2007 June, 2007
utter incompetence.
Debby, 21st 2007 May, 2007
My website went down Saturday night May 5th. I have been up and down (mostly down) for over 2 weeks now. They newest issue is they say I exceeded my bandwidth which is full of bologna because my site has operated trouble free for over 6 years now and now magically during all these troubles with their servers being down my bandwidth is overloaded. I've been on hold more than 10 times for over an hour each time over this last 2 weeks. Each time I hold I finally get someone on only to be informed that they are aware of the problem and "appreciate my patience". Since my site is still down, I signed up for a new hosting service. My newest challenge is to get iPower to change my dns settings for me. They have ignored my email request and when I waited on hold for over an hour they said no one in their building had access to the login for my dns settings!! So, here I sit, May 21 2007, down for over 2 weeks, waiting on hold again hoping maybe they can change my dns settings. My busniness is 100% website busniness so I'm going into the shop today to tell my 2 employess to "go home and not to come back for 1 week". They have been sent home a couple of days last week. These are 2 great ladies who have children, car payments, etc!! My biggest fear is that my site will lose search status as we are very high up in the major search engines.
Bill, 20th 2007 May, 2007
Total Disillusionment,
Totally lost my site, No email for more than a week, moving everything to fatcow. Of course this had to happen when we were launching a new product line... Fatcow is much faster reload time, now to get the lock off the registrar at Ipower is the only thing holding up a working site.
arif, 20th 2007 May, 2007
every time they referred me to tier 2, which is most of the time there was a problem, i never heard back. I always ask for a reference number after the first time they told me they didn't have any record of the issue, but this doesn't make a difference.
t.j., 19th 2007 May, 2007
Yup - me, too. Unable to send or receive email for 4 days straight now. Waited on hold for 1 hour the other day, only to have someone finally pick up who then put me on hold again and then disconnected me. Called again the next day (hold time of 25 minutes is actually 45 minutes), and got through, only to have the rep say that there is absolutely nothing that can be done from their end?! That's funny - I thought I was paying them to provide me this service (I was half right). Supposedly, my account isn't even one that they switched to a newer server.

How frustrating that I am paying for this and there seems to be nothing I can do about it. Amazing how such illegal 'business' practices can go unchecked. Sign me up for the lawsuit.
Alan, 16th 2007 May, 2007
Been with them for three years, never had such a big problem. Mail was down for three days. I would call and they would put it back up for an hour, then it would be down again. I would switch, but its to much of a pain. We lost so many orders because of them. We will switch if its not resoved by days end.Any reccomendations?
Marti, 16th 2007 May, 2007
Our site has been down since Monday. Magically, every time we talk to someone, they say it will be 24 hours. This is the longest 24 hours I have ever encountered and it has cost us thousands of dollars in revenue. We plan on filing a small claims lawsuit.
Sabra, 14th 2007 May, 2007
I paid this web hosting company to have a business website on the internet. My business is 100% internet. PROBLEM: I found out the website was not online since 5-11-07 at about 5:00 pm. No notice was given regarding any problems and I just happen to try to get on my website 5-12-07 to make changes and could not log-in. I notified tech support of the problem on 5-12-07 per email and asked when would my website be working again. Tech support response was that they are aware of the problem and are working on it. It has been 3 days without a business website and no presence on the internet.
Tonight I got an estimated time of 24 hours from tech support Live Chat. I plan to change hosts if my website is not online in 24 hrs. I have filed a complaint with the Phoenix, AZ BBB.
Marc, 14th 2007 May, 2007
I can't believe a web hosting company can't send you an email to warn you about an upgrade on there server that let you with no access to your emails and website for more than 3 days now .....and I'm still waiting after they told it would take 24 h !!!!

A big zero for ipowerweb.
Janet, 10th 2007 May, 2007
Just hung up after 40 minutes waiting for tech support and the same horrible song, over and over. Couldn't upload files today -- "A connection to the server could not be established." I'm so sorry I renewed for 3 years. I had no idea until I read this site how many problems their customers are having. What's happened to this company?? I thought going with "big" wa safe. Apparently not.
Clark, 08th 2007 May, 2007
After 4 years with iPower I am now having some serious problems. I just paid for my 4th year and this last weekend they moved my web site to a different server. During the move my web site was down for 3 days. Now the web site is back up but email server access times out most of the time, cpanel access is slow and timesout, and ftp upload is also much slower.

If this continues I will have to find another provider for my volunteer organization with simple html, soome jpeg photos, and a couple email accounts.

Tonight I was on hold for 40 minutes with tech support and they disconnected me.

This company will be going down fast if they keep this up.
Tom, 07th 2007 May, 2007
Echo (echo, echo echo)
All I can doi is echo the previous postings. I had one site with iPower, and I will never make that mistake again. There are no polite words that can be used to describe their customer "service".
Also note that their billing department is either inept or corrupt. Keep you hand on your wallet at all times and look for a different host.
JAG, 07th 2007 May, 2007
Been with ipowerweb since 2002. The first 4 years were pretty much flawless. The past 14 months have been horrible. My email server goes down all the time and it takes them days to fix it. The only info I am ever able to get from tech support is "our admins are working on the problem".

Trying to find a new host now. AVOID IPOWERWEB!!!
E, 04th 2007 May, 2007
I hate these people with every fibre of my being.
epete, 03rd 2007 May, 2007
I agree with all the negative comments.

Avoid them at all cost.
lady800cc, 30th 2007 April, 2007
I have been a reseller with iPower for about 3 or 4 years; I swore by them. But I was running software that need at least a respectable version of MySQL. I spent the last year trying to get them to upgrade, but to no avail. I really liked the interface but I also suspected that my email has not been up periodically. It was their technical inabilities that forced me to look at a new host. I have now moved my domains to A2hosting.com and so far I couldn't be more pleased. I am able to run the webbased software I need with no issues.

iPower now reminds me of FeaturePrice. I'm sure some here as well is I, were caught up in that fiasco! iPower could not keep up with it's growth and did nothing to upgrade its offerings or its server technology. This summer will complete my total move from iPowerweb.

THIS HOST ARE APPALLING DONT TOUCH THEM.
Those with a good word for them are extremely rare - take note..
Chuck, 04th 2007 April, 2007
I paid them on a credit card to produce a web page for me, after 90 days I still didn't have one and I cancelled the order and the billing department would not refund the money so the credit card company did without even an investigation. must be other complaints is my guess, but then they just shut down my email and said that they won't put my account active till I pay. I paid for this site 3 years ago and having them produce my web page was not part of that deal so I wonder how they can just shut me down..but they did..worse company I have ever had to deal with.
EVER

Site down for 10 hours, email access down for 72+ hours.
---------------------------------------------
Pitiful support. My site was went down on 3/30/2007 just before 8:00 am and was totally down for about 10 hours.
Email (other than webmail) is still not up after ***72*** hours.
Livechat is a joke -- their solution included a link to a tutorial on how to send mail. It seems they may be trained to recognize buzzwords and provide scripted replies, but otherwise are totally clueless.
Current status from phone support (who are typically much more intelligent and pleasant, but unfortunately, 'ipowerless') is 'there is a known problem on that serve, the admins are working on it and it will be up soon'.
All promises of fixes and status updates were left unfullfilled.
The positive is that I finally got around to consolidating my websites with another provider and learned a thing or two about webhosting in the process -- something I should have done a long time ago.
Vikram, 28th 2007 March, 2007
I agree with all, this is the worst host I have ever used, and I have used plenty ... absolutely no Customer Support, I had a package worth 155$ still no support, have another package from other host for 12$ a year ... the service is 1000 times better.

This is the worst decision I made, buying two packages from them .. just about 15-20 days .. applied for cancellation for both ..
george, 15th 2007 March, 2007
one big headache
positive, 02nd 2007 March, 2007
I have used iPowerWeb for over two years now. My website has been up (without fail) the entire time. My eMail has been fluid and consistent. To be fair, when they decided to switch me to a different server (Windows-based-YUCK!) nobody informed me and all of my login info and passwords were now wrong. I did get a bit steamed, but after five minutes on the phone, all was good and has been ever since.

Look at them like this: If you are running a full fledged business... why on Earth would you use a company like iPower? If you are smart, you would run your own server and only have yourself to blame when things go wrong. Because, face it folks, all things go wrong at one time or another!

I think the majority of the complaints here are by folks who went the "cheap" route and wanted champagne service and hosting on a beer budget.
uri, 26th 2007 February, 2007
stay away from ipower-web, if your mental health and your business are important to you.

they have the worse customer support i have ever encountered. the servers can be down for days and days, while they are not doing anything to fix it. although "fixing it" may mean to tuen the server on.
they have electric power outages, the servers crash violently.
they lie to you on the phone, and will mostly say "there is nothing we can do about it, you should wait for 24 hours" you can wait for 24 hours, and nothing happens. when you call again they tell you that everytime you call your case is taken back to the end of the line. these guys there just dont care, they captivate you and they mocj you and insult your business and intelligence.

STAY AWAY - PAY DOUBLE AND BE HAPPY SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Silva, 12th 2007 January, 2007
All hail the worst host around!!!
Stay away from these guys they have expensive non-working services and lousy support.
I've exchanged endless emails with these guys and there's no follow up, i had to repeat the same story to every person that responded.
When i got to the point of asking for a refund they did everything to make me stay with them including cancelling the refund to inform me of another hosting plan.
I've been waiting for the refund for 3 weeks and they say the process takes 10 days.
From beginning to the end, it's the worst service you can buy.
These people still are in the first positions of hosting review sites. Needless to say they share their filthy profit.
mel, 27th 2006 December, 2006
I've read some pretty bad reviews, but this host has to "take the biscuit" for what must be the worst host out there in 2006. Not only do they have the usual bad reviews - but the practises they are reported as doing to their CUSTOMERS really are just sick. They are worse than incompetent - to the point of being negligent. This is an opinion gained from reseaching this host, without bias, from many sources. (I have no axe to grind, being independent)
Ryan, 26th 2006 December, 2006
4.5 stars? That's nonsense and makes me doubt the validity of any positive review on this site. iPower is awful.

My web site or email seemed to be down at least once a month in a situation where I had to call to get it back up. Most of the time the person on the phone didn't have a clue what the actual problem was an had to send the problem to a real tech.

- Failed to tar/zip backup on their vdeck control panel.
- I cannot upload big file anymore.
- Download many small files crash their system.
- Tech support could not find the problem and resolve it. They have to escalate again and again and again and still fail to resolve it.
- So many more...

I tried to switch to Bluehost.com but they are also terrible. Bluehost.com limit your CPU usage. It could not serve 1 (one) user browsing gallery of resized images.

I paid $50 to get a recent backups of my database and they gave me a broken table database that missing my users and my users are most valuable frineds that I got and now i am with nothing, I called them spend hours after hours, told them ill pay whatever it takes to get me running with my forum, their answer was "its your end of the problem" which was complety wrong cause I showed the coding error to php developper and he said the host delete a table from server side so i told them and they told me their server is old, wut type of answer is that, I would personally suggest you that DO NOT HOST WITH IPOWER they dont know what are they doing, they are sucks.

Its the worst web host I have ever seen! We have a forum which is hosted by iPower. Its down for like two weeks! We complained them many times, called them. But still they are not giving any answer or taking any action! False and junk fetures! No High Bandiwidth and nothing. So I suggest everyone not to take this junk host.

Something is up here. jubileestallions, you guys need to check your calcualtions. According to my calculation, ipower should have a score of -11 not 455 (as it is today).

You have a lovely system but if you don't get your numbers right it's pretty useless.

So, I've had an account with them for 3 years now. They claim 99.9 percent uptime - which may be true of their website, but is *not* true of the services they offer customers (it goes down for a few hours about once a week on average.) They claim they back up every 24 hours, but (even as I write this) they're currently rebuilding the server my host is on from last Thursday's backup tape. While they rebuild it, I'm told that incoming mails will "vanish" never to be seen by users. Nice, right? But heaven forbid you call them about it - I can't take waiting on hold for 20 minutes so they can tell me that "it's being worked on, we have no estimate for when it will be back up."

This has been going on for about 2 days now. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend these yahoos.

We are a small web-based company. Everyone works remotely. iPower promises to backup data "aprox. every 24 hrs" On July 22'06 they had a power outage. The website has been restored but the data is over 40 days old. We had nearly a thousand $ in IT development that is lost and will need to be redeveloped. AND we are not able to post to the site the thousands of changes that have occured since June. What a disaster. I can't wait to find a different host but first we have to get the current site working again.

the worst web host in the whole world. their customer support is terrible.

ipower and ipowerweb are the same company. I do want to start this by saying I've had an ipowerweb account for 4 years and didn't have any problems. My account with them expired and I left to go to another service that over promised and didn't deliver.

So I came back but this time to ipower. I placed the order with a sales rep over chat and paid over phone because he said "it will be easier and faster". I was looking for fast since my sites had been down for a week because of the other hosts SNAFU.
I recieved an email saying my order was recieved and was being processed.
24 hours later I heard nothing. I sent a support email and recieved a response that my payment had been recieved, my account had been approved, and that I should wait for my account letter.

It didn't come after 36 hours, so I called. waited 10 minutes on hold. The tech there says my account isn't in the database which means it has never been set up. He can't help me and I have to call back in the morning to talk to billing.

We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Other than this horrible customer service and setup, my experience with ipowerweb in the past has been that they give you the most, and best service for the least amount of money.

Overall good servers but lousy customer support service, especially when ipower upgrades their services / cpanel/

Hideous, Horrible service..... spread the word and lets sink this boiler room operation. Only thing worse than Liars (money back guarantee?? what a laugh) are Liars that cannot run a web host. They got my password wrong the day I paid them and set it up.. They got my email address wrong and kept sending new password changes and notifications to a stranger. Would not and could not change my registrar info at Tucows, nor would they allow me to change it, because I couldn't get my own password, but a stranger could for 8 months!! The list goes on and on...

Ipower and Startlogic are the same company. If you require support at all this company will not give it. 6 months I have waited for replies to tickets, emails and forum posts. KEEP CLEAR

I didnt have FTP access for the first two days after I signed up for hosting. There are numerous problems with phpMyAdmin. They require you to have a bunch of folders created by the system at your top level, obscuring the files you put there. There is no SSH server so uploading files securely is impossible. The tech support is not very helpful, they constantly had to refer me to "tier 2" tech support.

Let me start off by saying Im not here to bash this host. Im here to share my culmination of over 5 years of experience with this company. I want to make fellow webmasters and IT proffesionals who run small buisinesses aware that this provider is in trouble. There is no accountablility at this company, they grew too fast and you are never going to get any sort of "technical help" if your site is down or if your having any problems. What you will get is legions of cut and paste experts reading a scripted dialouge. That being said, lets look at the meat and potaotes of what prompted this post.

Today is 2/2/2006 I have a dedicated server with these people and I am a reseller with over 20 sites hosted with them. The dedicated server went down a day ago, and I have called and spoke with 3-4 "technicians" to get it back up. All they can tell me is they will try to "page" someone to reboot the server and then hang up. I pay $99 a month for this thing and was promised 24/7/365 monitoring.....its false. When one makes the decision to get a dedicated server they do so for reliability issues, I have clients to answer to, what do I? Bottom line. I move my accounts, I learn my lesson. Do not use these folks if you want reliable hosting and solid tech support. They will leave you hangin and not look back. I am totally at these peoples mercy right now and I have clients calling every ten minutes.

The tech guy who works in the dedicated server area actually told me that his day would be good no matter what happened once he got off of work. He honestly did not care and said there was nothing he could do to help...all he could do is send a page to some guy. When asked to speak to a Supervisior I got put back on hold for 20 minutes, after 1 hour of waiting only to find out, "He just walked out"

To make matters worse they changed a bunch of settings and protocols on their shared hosting (cpanel) servers without letting anyone know. This has completely disabled several of my clients ability to send and recive email. They have no answer and I currently have clients going on 1.5 weeks with no email service. Again, no one can tech the issue on their end, they give you cut and paste responses and there s no chain of command you can go through to escalate a problem.

I tell you these things being one of IPOWERS oldest reseller customers. I have had enough success to stay with them over the years but have also had several times like this and the honest truth is they rely on the technology too much. When everything is working well, things are fine. The moment there is an issue, of any sort, they completely fall apart.

If you want more info on any of these claims, or written proof in the form of emails let me know.

I have never met so bad service. I place an order 35h ago and there is no email notification they received my order and it si being processed or anything else. Live chat support is not able to help and redirect you to the billing department. Billing department is not unswering more then 24h.... A plain headache
