Somehow I was switched to a monthly billing cycle and not a one time withdrawl from paypal for the hosting and domain fees. I caught this after I noticed they were withdrawing $9.95 from paypal. They claim I switched it to a monthly billing cycle. They are wrong. I'm only out about $20 but have to suspect this might be a common practice with them.

There servers are slow and overloaded. My sites constently have loading issues and at least once a week I find them down. I'm looking for a new host!!! NO more will I waste my time and money with them!

Appears IXWEBHOSTING has closed up shop. My site(S) all disappeared this morning, and had to Migrate my business site(S) out of their handling. Pretty sick, and as I found out, illegal to close up without prior notification to clients that are paid up through next year.

May 26, 2011 early morning, 12:30am, the site is down... no access to server, email, ftp... doesn't happen often but it's happened several times in the 5 years I've been with them. Once I lost a lot of email over a few days... and my rates have crept up over the years without them notifying me. They are not a reputable bunch.

Servers down four times in four months, the most recent for over 12 hours, as they claim the "maintenance" which was done without any prior notice is complete, and the servers are still not running yet. Unacceptable.

Seems we are lucky to have all the problems, since we could be blocked by google soon for using this host. People use Russian names, but they are definitely not Russians. This is a bunch of some dangerous Pakistani crooks.The best advise for them is to save time on fake hosting rating websites. they have at least 6 such websites. After all we all here paid them!

hey guys. i think ixwebhosting is great. not sure why others are having so many problems. im on the windows hosting. the moment i have a problem i just go to the live chat n tech support deals with the issue there and then.. very knowledgeable people who know what they are doing.

at first i was a bit annoyed that they keep vital files such a webalizer on the main directory as trying to start fresh and deleting things could stop the site from working altogether.. but now that im used to it im very glad i made the switch.. email seems to be working whenever i log in. though i dont use it too much..

I've had an account with them for 4 years now. Everything people say about their tech support is true, but there are really two tech support divs in this company. The Russian one, which I beleive is actually located in Russia, and the US one. You don't get US tech support by phone unless you call up and insist on it. The chat room help is done by script. They've cut the service features (for example, you can no longer get custom modules for Perl installed). What really got me upset was the event when just under 8000 hosts had their .htaccess files hacked. It was right after a patch for Apache came out. IX didn't own up to it. The cross border model for support saves them huge money no doubt, but the cost is in security. I'm dropping them like a rock in the next 2 months.

This has to be the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to host on, and I have hosted on many being in IT for 30 years, sites down daily, hacked weekly, tech support lying, and I have only been with them for 3 months. PLease dont ever use these people. Your sanity is at stake here.

I`m using new safe host called First Safe Hosting. Some of IX customers are now hosted there. My friend told me about them. Maybe it will help you to choose new host apart from IX.

They are terrible. For first 30 days I was able to get great help - not that I had a problem, but they did. I run my web code on my local web apache web server and it always runs great. I FTP the code to ixwebhosting andit runs for a day, then stops running. The firts 30 dyas (before their guarantee ran out) they answered my phone. Now, they want me to pay 9.99 a month for text msg support; else it is web ticket center or live chat.
It seems like, it is my opinion nayway that they 'break' your site so you need to pay 9.99 /month for the more attentive support.

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. Again, I ftp my working code to my hosted site at ixwebshoting; it runs for a day, then stops running. I ftp it agian; it runs for a dya, then stops running. I have told them about this over and over and they are clueless and said I must have ftp'd bad code after ftp'ing good code; they check the ftp logs and say 'yes, you ftp'd to the site' yeah, that was to FIX it! So I said, I will NOT ftp anymore - it went down and was down for days and days and then they restored some old code of mine they had on hand from soemwhere, so they got my site up but it was the prior weeks site - the changes I had made to the site in the previous week were gone.

Then they clsoe the help ticket - even though I siad on the ticket I wanted a full explanation why it kept going down.

They keep trying toblame me, even if I don;t touch my code and it is workign then stops working.

I suspect they use caching or clustering but don't have it set up right - when you ftp it runs the code code on the server you last ftp'd to, then maybe after a day it switches to another clustered server BUT no longer has your most recent code on the switched-to server so the code fails. Just a guess but somethign weird happens.

Unfortunately I have been caught up in the hacker attacks issues and am losing serious money as my sites keep showing up as "unsafe" on google. I've fixed them twice. The Ix support people were great but the hole is on their end, not mine.

Google "ixwebhosting hacker attacks" and you'll see what I mean

I used IXWebhosting for four years and was very happy but no longer am. I have to move. Am considering rebelnetworks because I need dedicated (static) ip addresses for all of my sites.

Okay, as of right now the mysql server went down (hardware issue). It has been down for about 9 hours and counting. I have had so many problems, I own a few websites on it but I will be moving to godaddy in two months when my year is up

Well i am a few months into my 3rd yr with IX.
80% good review

their hosting is quite good to me
the main issue with IX is support in my eyes
50% or more of the time the support ppl are clueless.

most of the time i need to use GOOGLE to resolve most of the issues myself

one thing thou
their live chat for issues is hit or miss
but if you make a ticket for the issue the solution to issue gets resolved generally

it seems that they use different ppl for live chat and the ticket system

if you got issues use the ticket system and not the live chat

a few months back i had some malware files all over my main site. with the help of IX the issue was resolve with 1 day or less and was back up on google in a few days time

however the hosting of my site part is good

my biggest issue is that live chat sucks but thankfully they have the ticket system

Lets be honest, ix web hosting offers a lot for less, and not a single hosting company is flawless. I have been using ix web hosting now for just over 4 years, and I have seen good times, bad times and terrible times, but in all those years ix has had one problem that they just cannot fix, and that is TERRIBLE SUPPORT!!, they are arrogant, rude, useless, and just simpley have not got a clue!!.. shame because there is a (very) small group of support that are actually friendly, caring and actually know what they are talking about.
IX needs to have a support team that understand that some customers actually know what they are talking about, and by giving them a stupid boiler plate answer / solution is just not enough.
IX web hosting is not too bad, you get what you pay for, but the support is probably the worst I've ever experienced.

7 months ago I had terrible problems with both database's and Emails, after weeks and weeks of complaining they finally moved my sites to another server. Everything was looking up, and the sites and Emails were running smoothly. However for the past 3 weeks all the same problems are returning. I have spoken to ix numerous times, and they keep telling me they are fixing the problems, but for crying out loud, how long is it going to take, they just don't care at all about their customers. I would definitely not recommend them.

I have seen sooooo many complaints about IX, but I hoped and thought that they had sorted out their issues. I moved from my previous host because of too much downtime, for the first 2 months everything seemed fine with ix web hosting, and I moved all 5 of my sites to them. Now however things are getting worse and worse, downtime is on a daily basis, and seems to happen the same time everyday and lasts hours not minutes, I also have database issues. I have been calling IX on a daily basis for the past 3 weeks, and all I get is a template answer.. everything is fine!!.. Everything is NOT FINE!!, and if I'm lucky to actually talk to someone who cares, they tell me someone is overloading the server, and they will firewall this person.. but still everyday the server shuts down.. Yet again I will try and find a host that can actually run a buisness, and does not oversell hosting packages..

Hi, I have a bussiness plan with ixhosting, but they suspend my account (with all features.. mail, ftp, web) because one of my clients have a file in their ftp account like file storage, the thing is that they suspend emai, ftp, web site of ALL my clients (include myself)... that's catastrofic in my bussiness... "they are under investigation"... WHAT??????????... I ONLY WANT TO DELETE THE @#$% FILE AND GO ON WITH ALL THE OTHERS FEATURES... but they "have" to end the "investigation".... MY GOD.. Are they FBI???. ... I really don't think to renovate my service!!!!!!!!!

Omg, where to start? After my 10th time at least with their Live Chat I'm ready to stick my head in an oven. Our site keeps loading slowly, or it times out altogether with a 500 error. Tech support insists it's loading just fine for them, however their own speedtest said it took 39 seconds. (A major improvement over earlier) I ran at least 5 separate speedtests on it from 5 different sources, and they all indicate the server is extremely slow. I asked to see their logs, and they say not allowed. Having a conversation with them is like a "Who's on First?" dialogue! The web monitoring company I now engaged keeps sending me alerts that the site is unavailable, yet their techs keep reciting: It's loading just fine for me... Then they insist it's my isp, the design, the web, nothing, blah, blah, blah. It's their lousy windows servers!! There are three different people associated to the site with three isps in two different states, and my download speed clocks in at almost 1400 kbps! I can't even imagine what it would be like visiting the site on dial-up. But their tech support is in total denial and clueless as to any technical expertise. It's really frustrating and as we speak, the site is still timing out. I don't know about their Linux services, but if you need Windows for your project stay far away from IXWebhosting..

Btw, I've seen the email complaints. I've got three accts I "pick up" at gmail, and the email works just fine as far as I can tell.

Hopkinsville does not have these bad ice storms every year. I am from Kentucky. My family was the second group into Kentucky and settled the wild hunting ground now called Kentucky. There is a lot of rain, but ice storms? You must be thinking of Chicago, across the Ohio River and in different weather system. There are the normal power outs due to winds, but not ice storms. Nothing unusual.

As for IX Web Hosting, it is overall a great company with great service. They are really trying hard. What might sink them is that someone doesn't have good decision-making abilities. So we are seeing it crop up in many ways and in many places. They have admitted they made a bad choice with H-sphere as a server platform, due to short-sightedness. Now we are supposed to trust them as they migrate us to a new one. Without info we must give them the benefit of the doubt, right? But their track record is 0 out of 1. Not enough data to decide? Why not? It was the most important decision of their whole business choosing which server platform to provide for their customers and it failed. Now can you choose? I'd say they have serious decision-making issues.

OMG I have been with them for roughly 7-8 years. In the beginning they were very good. But as the years went by there servers became overloaded and so did there tech support people.

I have lost thousands of dollars over the past 2 years due to them. The owner is very nice and very concerned. Unfortunately, he has no power to resolve the mess he is in., short of deleting all servers and starting new with new stringent plans and pricing. I have finally switched and am glad that I did. Now I have peace of mind and no worries.

My only question here is how can this site rate them 4.5 stars when they have 190 neg ratings and 100 positive?

Incidentally, IX is located in Hopkinsville, KY — which is a terrible place for a datacenter because they have yearly ice storms which routinely knock out power lines, communication lines, etc. Even satellite communication is affected during their ice storm season.

I have been with IXWEBHOSTING for a long time (many domains linux and windows)
MOSTLY Happy until now.
EMAIL seems to be in BAD SHAPE for my major domain that receives about 1,000 emails a day.
Noticed the problem Mon 6/22/2009 about 2pm but it was esarly this morning (6/23) that it has escalated to critical.
Noticed this am there were NO emails in my inbox.
Immediately called the 800 number and nothing happened.
I called their 614 number and receivved "all circuits busy"
Opened a chat help discussion and was told to open a trouble ticket.
During my "chat" used their webmail and saw two emails in my inbox and a minut later there were none!
Looks like IX has some CRITICAL issue that they are not disclosiing.
The only "good" news is that emails do not seem to be bouncing.
Time to look for a new provider ?

Mayor server Email providers such as Yahoo, Live Mail, Gmail and Hotmail are blocking emails that are being sent from ix web hosting's servers.

We invest our time, money and energy in our websites. IX WebHosting just doesn't care about our websites at all.

See, our websites may or may not be a direct source of revenue, but they always contribute to build our credibility and reputation.

Like other commentators, I have had repeated hacking issues with my website in IX Webhosting. My visitors repeatedly encountered VIRUS warnings from their browsers as they typed my URL. How's that for business / reputation building?

Every time I pointed the issue to IX WebHosting's technical support, they would immediately put the blame on me: Their servers are perfect - I am the one who should be ever changing my FTP username and password; download and scan my entire website with an antivirus. Well, I did both, to no avail.

Ever since I finally transfered my site to another host, I never had another virus/malware issue with my website. Peace at last! Good-bye, IX Webhosting!!!

I think they are getting very bad nowadays, although like one of the above comment, its better if we solved the problems ourselves as their support is utterly useless. I think the Ukraine part is right but the ticketing has been okay so far. I will give it one last shot and see what happens then...

I have always been very happy with ixwebhosting's services, but this has changed the past two weeks. I approached them with Email issues and the support was extremely arrogant and rude, and bluntly just blamed me, because Emails sent from my account were never being recieved. I checked to see if my site was registered and blocked for Spam, that is not the case.
Very rude, unhelpful and obnoxious support.

Doing research on ixwebhosting I have come across a lot of sites complaining. It has become clear to me that almost everyone has big issues with their support,.. Does IX not see this themselves? Surely a company that is serious would take customers complaints serious, and do something about it.
I was looking forward to using IX, they seemed to offer a lot for less, but after reading so many disgruntled comments, I think I will give them a wide berth

If anything happens to your site, you are on your own. So called support is a joke, and by far the worst I have ever come across. In the past 4 months I have had to call them 73 times, actually more, but I have counted 73x..
Database constantly down, or extremely slow, script injection, mayor Email issues ( noone recieves Emails sent ) and lots more.
EVERY time I call, I get told that they are working on things, and everything will be fine within 72 hours.. that was 4 months ago.

The servers become unavailable a few times a day for 5-10 minutes at a time. Used to be that they'd say, "Yes, they're down, we don't know why, we'll work on it." Then they'd be up in a few minutes and I'd say, "They're up" and they'd say, "Oh, um... great."

Now, those savvy bastards just wait it out. When I tell them the site is unavailable, they say, "Hold on, let me check" and then don't respond or say anything for 5-10 minutes. The site comes back up in that time and then they go, "It looks fine to us!"

IX are a joke, my sites (4) were all being redirected to a uk hosting site, I spoke to someone at support, and they said it was fine on their end, I asked them to check it from a search engine, and NOT from their CP, they told me they were checking it from Google.. LIARS!!.. It turned out that a .htaccess file was injected into my root folders, and redirecting my sites.. so there is no way ixwebhosting could have checked my sites.. Avoid!!

I have to agree with all the complaints I have read on this site ( and boy, there are a lot!!) I have just ended my 4 years with IX, the first 3 were great, but after the big move of their data center, things could / can not be worse.
Hacking, Re-directs, Downtime, Mayor Email issues, Terrible support, and even a complete web site LOST..
For a whole year I had to hear that they would sort out the issues within a week, a YEAR has gone by, and their services are an absolute disgrace.. It has been, and is clear that whoever is in charge of ixwebhosting has not got a clue about anything . Don't waste your money or your time, there are far better companies that actually know how to run and secure a server..

My site has been hosted on the so called "New Servers", my sites were injected back in Febuary, and although I managed to clean my sites, and they have since not been injected, the Database is CONSTANTLY down.. Yesterday it was down between 3 and 12 minutes 14 times!!!.. This is unacceptable, The support is completely useless.. I have had 1 or 2 friendly but unhelpful support over the phone, but most of the support are very.. very rude and blunt. It is very frustrating when your site is down on an hourly basis for anything up to 12 minutes, just to get told that there is nothing wrong!! My sites are automaticlly checked by "InternetSeer" and the reports I get are a disgrace. Support at ix blames Internetseer for not being reliable..
I would not recommend these idiots to anyone, just google research ixwebhosting and see for yourselves just how many people have been duped by these people.

IX was very good until November 2008. Then, support went down the hill.

I had many problems with hacking, DB timeouts and the support was not only unavailable most of the times, they were rude when I tried to call. Also, I had to put in several call back (but they never called back) in order to get some support.

IXWebhosting DOES NOT have the good reputation it had in the past, so do not get fooled by reviews. I don't know whether the crisis on economy had an effect on them but they are UNRELIABLE!!!

I've had tons of server issues. Their support is awful, you'll be talking with someone in Russia from some third party company that they probably hired to give you a list of generic answers. If you don't want anything close to the claimed uptime and you don't need competent technical support, and if infected servers that inject code into your WordPress and phpBB pages are okay with you, then go for it. Otherwise, stay far, far away from IX. We've had them for four years, and although they were good for the first two or so, they kind of went to hell in a handbasket. The last time I contacted what they laughingly refer to as tech support about malicious scripts (the code that injects them has been on IX's older servers since August of '08), they told me to change my FTP password, then gave me links to scan for Windows viruses, and for anti-malware (also Windows). I'd already explained that I don't use Windows at all, so it's obvious that no one actually read my ticket. None of my sites are mission-critical, so I'll finish out the time for which I've already paid, but I won't renew. It's a pain to move everything to a new host, but less painful than staying with this one.

Been hosting my sites with ixwebhosting for 3 years, on the unlimited buisness account. 3 days ago they terminated my account because I was using too much bandwidth, they sent me an Email telling me I should hosts my sites elsewhere, I did not mind moving on, actually it was a blessing, but when i went to download my backups, ixwebhosting had closed my account, and I could not get my files. I phoned ix but they refuse to allow me into my account.. after 3 years this is how they treat you.. ix can rot in hell

I think that the likes of Yahoo, Hotmail, Live Mail and Gmail are blocking Emails being sent from web sites hosted by ix web hosting. I had to create a Yahoo email account to snd emails to all the above, because if I send emails from my website email address, no one using a server based email provider such as the one mentioned above, never get the emails I send.. Very unprofessional, I have contacted ix 5 times now, but they just give me a boiler plate answer, there is nothing wrong.

Hello, What I suggest is that everyone who is having problems with your server, click on their google ads... show them what it feels like when tons of people click on your ads and the server is down. ixwebhosting.com has really bad problems with their servers. Hello, I cannot believe how terrible the servers are at ixwebhosting.com. It goes down everyday at least 5-10 times. Probably more than that but we catch about 5-10 times a day the outtages. We moved most all our important sites off the server NS13.ixwebhosting.com and NS14.ixwebhosting.com. However, some of our sites are still hosted on this server. You can check it to to see the performance. Our site is www.Floristwide.com and you can test it using alertra.com. You will see that every so often the server will go on error. It's really frustrating and Ixwebhosting always blames it on other shared hosting sites which is not the solution we want to hear. I have no idea why ixwebhosting is rated high on this website but probably because they pay or promote this ranking. Really frustrating!

Recieved an email today from a client saying that if you use the search option it shows an error, spent ages trying to find what the problem was, I then compared the Database Tables with the original, and TWO tables were missing, this site has not been updated for well over 5 months, and it was working fine at least up until 2 weeks ago.
ix wehosting denies they had anything to do with the sudden deletion of the tables.

A note about the .htaccess injection. When it happened (Early December of last year), ixwebhosting sent this email to clients:

"This is a self replicating virus which is found by visiting well-known search engines. When you click on any link it may redirect you to a fake Anti-Virus 2009 website which appears to scan your system and then asks you to download the software. Once downloaded and installed it begins displaying pop ups on your desktop. At this time it collects your FTP user name and password from your own computer and uses that information to upload an exploited file named ".htaccess" to your website. Any visitors to your website will then be redirected to the fake anti-virus website."

This is not true. It's an insult to say that I (an experienced internet user) actually downloaded the fake anti-virus program. Access to our FTP accounts was not obtained from our (the clients') own computers, it was a security flaw on the server end. Just today ixwebhosting sent an e-mail saying that they changed everyone's ftp passwords, obviously to cover for some more security flaws on their end.

I have been with ixwebhosting for about a year and a half. I have had no problems except for the one time when my site (and possibly all the other ixwebhosting sites) were hacked. The .htaccess file was replaced with this:

I am in the market for a new host as I have finally grown tired of daily support tickets, phone calls and chats. Someone point me in a good direction and not godaddy i dont like them either. I am looking at dreamhost but not sure yet.

The actual service is adequate. However, they fail to deliver on technical support. On two occasions I have waited 2 days for just an initial response. They are unhelpful on chat - they just say the problem will be looked into soon - and don't do so. Support is a network of Russians as far as I can tell. Unapologetic and unhelpful and very frustrating as there is no way a crucial techincal issue will get looked into in a timely fashion.

My SQL servers are down yet again. If you talk to the online chat they will tell you nothing is wrong. IF you submit a ticket they give you a BS response. However I just called them and was honestly told (Spoke to a real tech support person not "Jeff" in freaking Pakistan) that they had a hardware failure last night and they dont know when it will be back up. And that 501 has had some issues here lately but with the replacement of the hardware this should be fixed. We will see where this leads. I dont want to change host because it is a HUGE PITA. But if I have to I will.

We've spent the last week uploading and creating database on our new IXWebhosting account. BIG MISTAKE. All of the database sites give random server connection errors more often than not and the server service in general is extremely unreliable. The online "Tech support" chat is a complete joke. Not once have they been able to resolve the problems we've communicated, and we have to chat them about 5 times a day. We're closing our account today before serious damage is done.

Every one of their web servers have been hacked in the last few months. If you have any sites with them, it's just a matter of time before your code is injected with viruses and phishing pages or completely diverted to a scam web site.
If you have an account with them, do what I did... Get the hell out now before all of your sites are blacklisted.

Today I got a call from a friend telling me my sites contained a virus, I googled my site, and when I clicked on it my Anti Virus blocked it with a warning, I then checked all my other sites and they all contain the same script. I called ix, had to wait 25 minutes, probably a lot of customers with the same problem.. I was told very bluntly that it was a well known issue with WordPress, I have been using wordpress now for 4 years, and always use the latest stable version, I contacted WordPress, and they assure me that there are no known issues with WordPress. I then called ix again, and this time they blamed my computer, saying it is infected, and that I uploaded the virus.

Last week I had a phone call from a customer why I had not sent them an Email, I reassured them that I had, and that I would resend it 2 days later completely pissed off because they still never got the Email. So I sent an Email to one of my own Email accounts.. I never got it, so I tried sending it to another 5 Email accounts.. out of those 5 emails I got just ONE, but it took TWO days to reach me. I contacted support on the chat, and he told me there was a backlog of mail because of a "Spam Filter" , he told me to create a Ticket which I did, I sent a ticket on Friday morning, and Today ( Monday) I still have not had a response.
So to break it down, ( this is what I know for certain) I have sent 8 emails, and only recieved ONE 2 days after I sent it!
This is absolutely absurd, now I do not know how many people I have sent Emails to that never got them.
Do yourself a big favour and stay away from ix web hosting, they just have not got a clue, or they just don't care, or both.

I have tried many hosting companies and ixwebhosting is amongst the worst. Their server will go down frequently. We received so many complaints from our own customers that the website is not working. We get this just about everyday. And two days ago ixwebhosting.com servers were down for 4 hours. Yesterday it was down 3 hours. Today it is down now for over 2 hours and we are still waiting for the servers to work. We are hosted on NS13, NS14. This has got to be the most frustrating experience in our 9 years in ecommerce. We made the fatal error trusting to host our site with ixwebhosting.com. The first two months were okay but then after it went downhill. I think maybe they work really hard during the trial period so you cannot refund the month. I'm stuck now with a long period of webhosting plan. They won't refund either and they will not provide you a good working server.

The server is currently down. IT is down about every 5-10 minutes for 30 seconds - 2minutes. Right now it has been down for over 10 minutes. We need to get to our database and info but we can't. This is just bad for us. ixwebhosting.com really cannot get it right. We have contacted them over 100 times in the past month but they keep saying they fixed the problem. I don't see how ixwebshosting rating is high on the right menu on this website. It means they probably get some cut when referring clients.

I posted a support ticket, after almost 24 hours I finally got a response telling me the ticket has been forwarded to support!!!!!... What is the point of that??.

haha, i know how ixwebhosting is being attacked, I know who is behind the injecting. Over a year ago we contacted ix explaining they had problems, we had a very rude reply telling us it was lies, and the servers were secure. We added a folder with a fake website to at least 200 websites. Now ix wanted to listen, and even offered to pay per security issue.. but now it is too late.
ixwebhosting should listen when help is offered.

IX is not willing to help customers, instead they just want their money, and point the finger at customer once EVERY site on the servers are injected.

I completely agree with Blake, every night at midnight ALL my sites on two buisness accounts come to a screeching halt, everynight I call ix, and they appologize, and tell me they will find the cause and firewall the site, or even suspend the site(s) causing the slowdown, but this has been going on for weeks.
Also, I use "Mailwasher" that connects to my mailserver every 10 minutes, and every morning when I check mailwasher, I get an error log telling me that it could not connect to the server, with at least 20 times that it could not connect to the server.

I am totally and completely disgusted with IX Webhosting. It used to be a great host and I recommended it to everyone I could. But something has changed. I believe they got sold. Since then, we have had nothing but endless trouble with this host...

Last year, they proudly moved to a new Data Center. Of course this caused us problems for several months. They kept apologizing, but the problems persisted. After a very long period, things calmed down and remained that way until November...

Without prior warning, IX moved our site to a new server in November. After 60+ hours of calling, using Live Chat, and using the ticket support system, they finally worked out most problems. I felt like I had to beg to get IX to help resolve the problems that they created. I lost an entire weekend fighting them. The IX response times average between 12-24 hours...

Then again this January, IX updated all of our cgi-bin files in our domain and all of our sub-domains recreating the problems that were caused in November's unnecessary server move. Again, it took over 60+ hours to get our site up and running. I had to find workarounds to get our site up and running, and amazingly, IX tried to take credit for getting our site up and running again even though they had nothing to do with it...

Even though our site is up and running now, we still have many problems. After 176 hours of fighting IX for help, they have yet to correct the Cron job errors that still plague our site...

The last two days, the server has crashed in the evening requiring another call to IX to get the server restarted/reset and our site back online. This was the same pattern that plagued us after the Data Center move last year. And early every morning, the page load response times drag down to a crawl. This seems to start between midnight and 4 AM every single night. The other day, the slowness continued well into the following day. We get an apology from IX each time this happens, but they don't seem to be doing anything to permanently correct it...

IX has tried very hard to blame these problems on our code, which worked fine before the server move in November and again up until January. IX does not want to take responsibility for their actions and it is frustrating and disgusting dealing with them. I cannot in good conscience recommend IX Webhosting to anyone until they improve the skills of their own Technical Support staff. It wouldn't hurt if they hired a few more knowledgeable people to improve their response times too. Waiting 12-24 hours for each new response to a ticket is totally unacceptable. With IX's lack of effort, a resolution to a problem can drag on for days and weeks. IX does the bare minimum to assist its clients and they do it as slow as they possibly can...

Dealing with IX technical support gets real old real fast. I wouldn't wish this on anyone...

Do not believe their "Money Back Guarantee" After 3 weeks I requested a refund, and I only got about 30% of the full sum, they even charged me $20 for a .com, $20!!!, I can get these for $4.95.

With them for about 2-4 years. Was OK, nice customer service but innefficient now that I am ahving BIG problems - and now has been a nightmare since January 1st 2009. Now all my six websites are not even loading. Not even an error message! "server taking too long to respond" My site was hacked apparently (never happened in 10 years) and since then problems everyday. Even google has put a warning to visitors about malware from my site. My Google results have dropped completly Now have been pfflne for 24 hours. Disaster. Will change. I was told they are having problems with one of their servers. I don't care. I'm changing. Will pay more for more.

I too have been with IX for just under 4 years, and I too have pure html sites, I have 7 websites, I have always been very happy with IX, and up until September 2008 I had never had any issues. But since September my sites have been hacked, changed and re-directed on a weekly basis. IX keeps telling me about folder permissions and Ftp viruses, but I do not run any scripts, and do not have any folders, so I know that cannot be the cause. I will be moving all my sites to another host.

There is at least one positive aspect of using IX, viz. you learn a lot about the perils of using a web host without sufficient technical knowledge and/or security routines.
You learn that you yourself have to take responsibility for implementation of all the precautions needed, such as recurrently (frequently) making sure your hosted domains haven't been hacked, having all directories properly chmod-ed and .htaccess-ed, and keeping updated backups on a local server.
These security routines will prove to be useful when you move to a hopefully more competent and secure web host.

6 weeks ago I purchased an account with ix webhosting, in this 6 week periode my site has been cleaned and re uploaded 14 times!! every other day it gets injected with a .htaccess file, and gets redirected. I do not have any scripts for my site an no .htaccess file. ix has constantly blamed me for this. Luckily I only have one site, I'm counting my loss and moving away.

I tell them that it is a mistake, my website is about hotel in Tunisia.. I ask for them to please put my website back because people think I am now a thief but they say i must buy a new account. these people are VERY bad people, they make me look like thief but they are thief!!

Another website screwed by IX. Luckily I was nearing the end of my contract when they decided to suspend my account for "Phishing" All the suspected folders had permissions of "httpd". A week prior to IX shutting my site down (Suspended). They had informed me that my site had been "hacked" and had a virus in it. They claimed to have fixed it. Only to shut down my site shortly after. Look at some of the recent comments under mine and you will see that I'm not the only one. IXWebHosting is crap. I only dealt with it for as long as I did because I had already paid. Unfortunately I didn't have the site as a whole backed up. Now I have to go and rebuild it again from multiple sources.

They shut my site down 2 other times before. They claimed TOS for copyright infringement. The infringing products were my own pictures from my car club in Souther California. Apparently I'm not allowed to have a nice car and know others that do as well. (G35Driver)

I have 2 static sites, and they have been injected nad the files permission changed to httpd. When I phoned support I was blamed for in-secure folder permissions, when I told them I did not have any folders, they told me to purchase an anti virus software, and scan my pc!! I told them My McAfee AV is 2 months old and up to date, and scans every Tuesday and Friday.. Then they told me to TRY ANOTHER Anti Virus software Keep away from these idiots

I have been with ixwebhosting for about two years now (I transferred from iPowerweb). I have no complaints about ixwebhosting, in fact, I am very pleased with their service. Everything has gone very smoothly, no down time and excellent customer service - there is a place within the control panel where you can create a "help ticket," which is always answered within a day, usually within a couple hours and there's no getting bounced around on the phone from one person to another. I have 5 websites at ixwebhosting, and I am happy, content, and very satisfied with their company.

It was a nightmare dealing with these horrendous people at IX Webhosting.

- For the seven months my site was hosted there, there were a lot of slow downs, database cut-offs and data lost, and they never provide any compensation or explanation of why that happened

- IX reserves the right to cut off your website at anytime whenever they feel like to. At first they would not tell you they are going to cut you off, they just asked you to accept their TOS terms of service. Once you did that they cut you off immediately.

- Worst of all, they do not allow user to download their own website or database once they suspended your account. If you are not prepared you will be totally screwed. I have never seen hosting company not providing user their database when they move out of the host.

- Technical support is horrendous, either the person there just try to play dumb or are complete idiots. They do not listen to your words, they just repeat themselves over and over again as if they are merely answering machines.

- Make sure you read every single word in their terms of service, there are a lot of unfair terms to the user, make sure you are alright with every single term in there before you sign up. These guys sure know how to make a fool of you by playing with the terms.

I'm having the same issues... files that were owned by my account became owned by httpd and all had virus injected into them.

I have a shell script that runs a ls -l every 6 hours and compared the results from the last run 6 hours previous and it caught a mountain of changes on the morning of Nov 27th at 8:20am (their server time).

Submitted a ticket and they said my site was internally hacked. Tried to reply to the ticket and the reply buttons aren't even working.

Submitted a new ticket to reply to the old ticket to ask how file ownerships can change like that. Awaiting a reply.

When I signed up two years ago, they seemed pretty good. However, over the last tow years their service has got worse and worse. In the last week before I transferred all of my sites and my clients sites to another host, all of my sites went down for over 24 hours on three separate occasions. Every time I entered a support ticket, it took them over 10 hours to reply, only to ask for 'further information'. They claim to be in the USA, but every reply is from an Eastern European name. Their so called 'live support' is a joke, each reply takes over 15 minutes and they always end up saying that I should submit a support ticket.
My sites were hacked constantly. Other users on the same server could access my files and folders even despite being chmod 755.
You get what you pay for. I've just moved to A2hosting. I'll have to pay twice as much but the service is infinitely better.

Since May of 2008 24 of my sites ( 3 buisness Accounts) have been mass injected, 8 sites have had the .htaccess file injected thus redirecting the sites, and 5 sites have been used a Phishing sites for among others "Wells Fargo" and Washington Mutual".
I am not going to advise anyone if they should or should not use IX webhosting, just google "IX webhosting Hacked" and make up your own mind.
There is not a single server that is 100% safe / secure, That IX was hacked, is no big deal, it can happen to anyone, but being hacked MORE than 7 time within a year, and having a support team that are COMPLETELY useless, and for months have TRIED to blame customers for 777 permissions, I had one account with ONLY 5 html sites , NO folders, NO scripts, NO permission, and they ALL got injected.

The requested site did not respond to a connection request and the browser has stopped waiting for a reply. The only positive on ixwebhosting is, they are cheap, low price = low quality, so definitely not recomended for commercial/business websites, your business will not grow with ixwebhosting.

Wow - wish I'd read this first. I signed up and was soooo excited by their unlimited everything and their "DotNetNuke Expertise". Wrong. They have no tools for DNN (can't backup & restore your DB via SQL Server Mgr. as I was told when I called BEFORE signing up) and their techs are CLUELESS about DNN -- actually worse, some seem to know it exists and others don't. The biggest reason to avoid them is I had an open 'ticket' for over 12 hours. I've read where people say to use 'chat' and they're right -- you get a quick response from someone (some person who I'm sure is in Ohio or somewhere in the USA but whose name is achmed zahermche or some other "wanna buy a vowel" name)l but I would rather type an explanation of a problem clearly in an email or text box than try to type in real-time with someone to whom English is a 2nd or 3rd language. If you really want to know how bad ixwebhosting is, I came over from WebHost4Life -- the gold standard for BAD hosting and support and these guys are as bad or worse (for my needs). Stay away.

I had trouble accessing my site at least twice a week with IX. The SPAM was a serious problem. I canceled my account 6 months into the 24 months I had paid for. They refunded less than 25% of my money claiming that that their terms required that because I canceled, even for poor service, I now must pay for set-up fees and domain name registration that are FREE when you sign up. Horrible, rude, employees. MANY complaints to the BBB.

The worst thing, though, was that they disabled my account and I had to get the Attorney General for the State of Kentucky to order them to return control of my domain name to me.

I have not had many problems with IXwebhosting until yesterday. I too was hit with TOS violations because someone hacked my site and uploaded phishing files. IX will blame you for the problem. Then, without warning, they suspend my account with no access to the files for the 8 domains that I have!

I was with IX Webhosting for 5 years+ and today they shut my account down due to phishing files that were placed on one of my domains; after they blamed me for the files, that I didn't place, they proceeded to tell me that they can't give me access to my files and data.

They're about 20 hours away from being served legal papers for damages and theft, in addition to getting a boot crammed up their asses for being one of the worst web hosting experiences I've ever had to deal with in my 9 years of web dev.

IXWebHosting were always cheap by shady, but recently their customer service has taken a terrible turn for the worse. They popped me with several TOS violations. The first was for using 30 GB of storage of their "unlimited" storage. They COMPLETELY LIE about their storage promise. The other was a supposed Spam complaint that one of their managers agreed was not a valid complaint, but they are still charging me with a SECOND TOS violation. They told me if I get a THIRD TOS violation they will terminate my account without notice, meaning I will loose all my email, etc. Talking to their support people is like talking to high school PE teachers from Siberia. It's just completely pointless.

AVOID IXWEBHOSTING at all costs!!! They have served their purpose, which is to drive the cost of hosting down, so now go with one of the better competitors. These guys are the worst!

I moved to HostMonster who verified, in understandable, clear English, that I can use all 1.5 TB of their promised storage (I won't use nearly that much, but it's good to know).

I had been a customer of IX Web Hosting for over 4 years. I have watched their service and support deteriorate significantly especially the past year. My web sites were routinely down and IX Web Hosting missed their guaranteed up-time metrics nearly every month. When I complained they would credit my account for an additional month. Finally after my sites were down for 10 consecutive days I decided a change was in order. I moved my sites and canceled my IX Web Hosting account. Rather than getting the money back I was told I would get a fraction of the refund I was owed. The customer service and billing department argued that the credits I received for them missing their stated guarantee were basically worthless from a monetary standpoint and that they continued to incur charges. Not only did I have to endure countless outages and deal with incompetent technical support leading to additional downtime and outages but I would pay for this "privilege" receiving a minimum refund. I've opened a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about their business tactics and I recommend to everyone to say as far away from IX Web Hosting as possible. If you already have an account there I suggest getting out while you can before you find your sites and your money drained.

Yes, it was working for about 10 minutes, i was able to get an order ... then it's down again. The guy who tripped over the cord maybe also spilled coffee over the electrical outlet. God!

Haha.. funny. I actually tried to click on Ixwebhosting.com google ads and the site doesn't load. This is how our customers are feeling when they click on our ads. This also isn't good for internet rankings I suppose. My server is down at the moment and i'm just sitting here twittling my thumbs.

Actually I couldnt get on their website but you can call them at 1800 385 0450 or 1 614 534 1961. I dont understand how their who network of servers are down at the same time. Did someone trip over the power cord? Well, i have to say at least they answered my call. This is the 6th time the server was down in the past week. I have three website monitors running at the same time which alert me each time the server is down. This doesn't include server stalling problems. Im starting to regret I am hosting with ixwebhosting. If this continues I will for certain move to another company.

Yes, the server is down. I contacted Ixwebhosting just now and they said it will be fixed in 30 minutes. I also used alertra to check ixwebhosting website and they are down as well. The problem I found is that when the server is down with Ixwebhosting they will deny it is down. Even with proof logs of 3rd party monitoring companies such as alertra and internetseers. My server is down right now as well. I need help but cannot find anyone at ixwebhosting.

ixwebhosting.com is basically bottom of the barrel hosting. I can't imagine anything worse. Their server went down again Saturday and now my entire wiki website no longer works because of a corrupted database. Do not use this host because you WILL have problems. Lots of them.

I have to admit, IXwebhosting is not that good. My site has been down 4 times in the past year. sometimes it takes 12-24 hours to get things back up and running. The email servers have been slow lately. Right now, my FTP service does not work; I can't login either. I've started looking for another host because reliability is my main concern.

Ok, GUYS, I'm so pissed with this ixwebhosting sh*t. 2 weeks ago their MySQL server was down and they didn't save a back up for me even they could be able to back up some other databases which made me so pissed coz I have a forum of 12,000 members for 5 years. (Fortunately I got my own back up, but it's 6 months old!) Yes, I called them, chatted live, emailed, ticketed, all sh*t, but all I got was "we are wrking on it". Funny, huh?

They have cheap plans, I agree, the reason I chose them cause they had cheap plans, and I tested their website speed with a tool, and their site speed was light speed. However, after using their hosting for 2 years, now their hosting service turned out too bad now. My sites have been on and off, regardless the daytime or nighttime. Just imagine you staying home on Saturday night and Sunday night coding your site instead of going out watch movies with your cute girlfriend, and suddenly the site&host&ftp... everything shut down at 1am when you are so stuck with the code, that's b*** sh*t huh?

GUYS, PLEASE THINK OVER BEFORE BUYING THIS HOSTING SERVICE: IXWEBHOSTING.COM <= Cheap doesn't mean good!

The server is down right now receiving the following error: HTTP/1.1 500 Server Error. The reply from the tech support said they cannot help and we need to send a ticket to the center. All sites are down. It's time to move servers.

I think we have to throw in the towel soon. We have given ixwebhosting a serious try and in the past 2 months, the web server has been down more than 8-10 times. The email server also had problems as well and does not send out emails. We have also contacted the tech support online, which is good they have this feature, but they never know how to fix the problem. They will ask you to send an email. But they wont fix it until hours up to 5 days. We are looking for better hosting and would like your suggestions. Ixwebhosting is not good enough at this point. Server has too many problems and downtime is serious.

Ixwebhosting.com server ns13, and ns14 is currently down. We have contacted ixwebhosting support and they do not how to fix the problem. The server has been down for 3 days intermittently. The server is down now.

The uptime is brilliant. My site has only been down twice for about 5 minutes. But I do not recommend this host. The MySQL server I am on has a lot of problems. Some guy I know keylogged me and got into my forums and deleted everything. The backups I uploaded wouldn't work, so I made a support ticket. It took them TWO WEEKS to reply. They said they had a backup from the day before it was hacked. I asked them to restore it. A week later they replied again and said they didn't have the backup. So, I had to completely start my forum over again. Next month I will be moving host, and I asked them to email me a backup of my website. I have been waiting 3 days so far and still no reply from them.

THE SUPPORT SUCKS. Do not host with these guys. It is a waste of money and a waste of time. Plus they have really bad servers.

Okay, it has been now 4-5 days that the email server does not work with ixwebhosting. They keep saying please wait 24 hours and the issue will be resolved. But so far their email webserver is not working or sending emails out. I think I may need to throw in the towel soon. Ixwebhosting does not know how to run their web servers or maintain it. If they do not fix the email server 2 more days, I have to urgently move my server.. anyone with good suggestions of a company who is reliable, know how to maintain the server, doesn't overload the servers, has multi domain hosting for ASP classic pages, and uses HSphere, please let me know. And yes they suspended me once too, after I called tech support, they said I was violating the TOS. I was not as I was trying to get my Wordpress installed. I called them and after I cussed them out on the phone, I had to get really mad until they fixed things. If you use IX you will be sorry. I hate to say that but, I dont want others to experience the grief I have. Yes they are cheap, but you get what you pay for and I would rather pay more and get something reliable and something I can count on. You simply cannot count for IX webhosting for hosting a simple wordpress site. Page cannot display happens all the time.

I have had ixwebhosting since 9/2007, I do not recommend them at all. STAY AWAY. You will be sorry if you choose them because, half the time the pages on my simple WORDPRESS blogs do not display. The tech support chat is totally useless. I am in the process of changing hosting companies as I type this. The slow response has been a damage to my reputation. DO NOT USE them, they are total hype. I am glad I didnt rely on them more, I have several domains I am developing.

I get the following message each time I report the problem to their livechat:

Sorry, unfortunately I can't resolve this issue, please create a ticket to our administrators and they will help to solve your problem. You can create a ticket from your control panel -> 24\7 help desk - ticket center.

And when I create a ticket, I would get a reply from them that should I get anymore error, please contact our live chat immediately. And when I contact the livechat, they would tell me the problem cannot be resolved by livechat, please create a ticket. Good grief! this fraudulent company should be investigated.

ixwebhosting.com is the worst hosting company exist. I have a very simple wordpress blog, and almost 90% of the time I cannot get to my web site. Each time I try to access my site, I get the 'error establishing database connection'. When I asked them, they said that such problem is difficult to resolve because it's a shared mysql server, it is possible that other users are abusing their server and it will take them time to find the users who abuse their servers and then they would mark my case as resolved. There tech support is horrible. The livechat is useless and waste of time. I have already send in my request to cancel my account.

The email system they use is SLOWWW and un-reliable
You need to resolve (= be patient and wait) your own problems.
Great for a non- critical site with not too much traffic.

I gave ixwebhosting a try. Right now at this moment, the server is down for 3 hours and i am still waiting for someone to fix it. I am told they send an email to their admin but what does that mean? I asked them to contact the tech support but they said they sent an email. I don't know how much longer the server will be down. I will let everyone know when it is fixed. IXWH has problems on occasion, like all hosting companies, and I'll be the first to say I've been frustrated a few times. But, much of the complaints I've read here are obviously due to user error. I've been with them for over 5 years, and my site has been down once. That was when they recently moved their boxes to Ohio. For the money, they're hard to beat. Put a bunch of salt on the loudest complaints. Especially the one from the idiot ex-employee that had his paycheck screwed-up. That's hilarious.

Where was this site before I stupidly signed up with these yuts. What a horrible mistake. Web site goes down every 3-4 days. Yes, they get it up as soon as I complain, but that is not the point. Their servers are OVERLOADED and crash often!

I know, I know, for the price you shouldn't complain. But this service is not that good, even for a basic site.
I signed up and in the first night had major trouble. I use PHP emails on most of my sites, and in all cases the PHP mail server was BAD!! It took nearly 48 hours for some emails and many did not arrive at all. They apparently had this problem for months and still did not have it solved. Their Tech Support ticket system took days to respond and that was not good. Their live chat always resulted in them saying something like, "we cannot help you now, please raise a ticket". Their service center would promise calls from tech support people, and again these would take days to call you.
They offer you free months hosting when you complain, but that does not solve the issue. I cancelled within 4 days of hosting with them and moved to Bluehost. Bluehost has been a good option for me though I know others don't like it, I think it's a great service.

I worked for this company. The company that hosts is called IXWEBHOSTING. The callcenter for help is called Ecommerce. Located in Hopkinsville KY. They are a bunch of unprofessional screw ups. They lie to the customers and tell them whatever to get them off the phones. I know because I did it. They are also in with a bunch of Ukrainians. Prolly the Russian Mafia or something. Whole thing is shady. Too many people on the servers.. too much traffic. They won't do crap for you.
They mess up the employees checks and crap.. they are ghetto.

Mail servers again are taking over 24 hours to process mail in. Don't use them if your rely on prompt email

The email is down many times per week at a minimum. This has been going on for about 6 months. They finally said it was the server I was on, and could move me,but my mail would be down (delayed) for up to 48 hours due to DNS propagation (routing). I said: why not just replace or fix the server, since it's gotta be affecting others. Copy the info, unplu the bad one and plug in the new one. Downtime of minutes maybe?

That's the reason I left my last host (adaptive.net). After 7 or 8 years, they went to heck too.

If you rely on your email, as we do in our business, don't use IXwebhosting.

Well I have read all the recent reviews and realise that one cannot rely on the ratings of these review sites as the posted reviews are very negative and yet the the company under review is at the top of the ratings list - makes one think.........my own hosting company was dropped from this review site owing to 0% uptime over a monitoring period BUT gets a high rating for uptime on another ratings site (sigh)...

well, I concur with the other negative reviews, this company is a joke. I have just gotten some emails from some banking corporations threatening to sue because apparently one of my domains has been hacked and a phishing site set up directing customers of certain banks to my domain. My password is a 16 length alpha numeric one and i have not logged into my account in over 4 months, yet someone accessed my domain on 31st may 08 from Canada and uploaded all these malicious files. IXWEB have disabled the page and say they are now investigating me! this is the 4th time inside a year that our domains have been hacked. As a systems admin, im familiar with security and my systems are definitely secured with a minimum of 16 alpha numerical passwords being changed every month, so i find it incredible that our domains are being hacked so often. IXWEB blame scripts im running, well my domain is parked has no scripts other than their own default ones, and yet it was running a phishing site yesterday! Another thing is the Opentransfer mail protocol they use, im finding that im constantly getting blacklisted on our isp's because some prick on ixweb servers has been spamming and everyone gets blacklisted becuase of it. definitely not a host you want to be with if you need your emails to get through or your website to be up next week and not hacked!

Stupid pathetic people probably can't even maintain and write software. Most people expect IX to code their stuff for them, so when they get hacked they say "GEEZ its your fault" When no its not. Its in the terms of service. Additionally, the file storage deal with all you, its in the terms of service. Read before you check the box that you agree, if you dont like it, blow yourself.

I am trying to find a host. I thought 000webhost had some quite positive reviews, so I checked their paid hosting and the link lead me to ixhosting which has the same negative reviews as my current hostdepartment, anyone can recommend a real good one.

My website's home page recently got hacked, IX places the blame on a vulnerability in my software. I have a phpBB forum, I'm assuming they mean that. I don't know whether to believe them or not, but I've lost my site's #1 Google ranking for hidden text.

I also once had my site suspended for violating TOS, (file storage), I never got an email notification, they just shut me down.

I have had positive experiences getting live chat help in the past, but overall I have an uneasy feeling about IX and may be switching everything to my !&1 account.

I was with them all last year and everything was all right. The past 6 months or so have been so frustrating.

- Mysql databases are down at least twice a week.
-Support takes at least 1 day to even get a response.
- Live Chat is funny. They can't even speak English. All they can say is wait for a response on your ticket.

Why I just Canceled My Account with IX:

Recently they asked me to delete some files/folders. I tried to do so, and get access denied. I tell them this and they are suppose to delete them for me. They don't, and instead Suspend my account for violating TOS. I open a ticket and ask them to delete the file/folders. They close the ticket and Unsuspend my account. I figure everything is good right? Wrong. Today They Suspend my account permanently. Are you kidding me? I spent a lot of time today arguing on the phone and it got me no where....FUCK THEM

I Canceled my account today and switched to Hostmonster. Couldn't be happier to be with a superior web host.

i became customer of this company couple of moths back, after seeing positive reviews and it being in top 10 list of many reviews. But the service is very pathetic, i am already thinking of moving out.

Yep,, It’s time to go. I have 2 sites with them and have been a customer for close to 5 years. Believe me,, if your serious about a good host provider, IxWebHosting is not the place to be. Terrible support. I think that it’s the current management. It was not always a bad place. I’ve really noticed the difference in the past 8 months. Lot’s of down time. I just lost a site for 18 hours because of server issues. In the past 2 months I’ve been down at least 4 times. Avoid this hosting company. This company is all about the bottom line…. theirs

5) They will "block" your site if you get too much traffic. Even if you are still within the guidelines for the month. You are allowed to get a certain amount per month, but it must be spread out evenly. Any serges and they WILL block your site.

It took a great deal of time to get my site up and going and after a full year with this company I can no longer take it any more. We are moving.

been an IX customer for about 5 years. Ihost 7 domains with them. I had no problems until 2007. Email became my first issue. Yes I get blocked by Comcast. I never had downtime until the move to the new datacenter. That was totally unacceptable if you ask me but what can I do. I really liked them as a host until then. Now I have two accounts.. with two different versions of cpanel. One has way more features. Email is the biggest pain. Sites have been quick but FTP access has gone down hill. I can no longer complete a transfer without multiple connections. This happens now matter where I am at or what OS and FTP client I use. They are losing me as a customer if they don't straighten up.

I can tell only bad thins. I tried to open account twice and they twice refuse me without reaseon. They told there was a problem with my credit card. In the meantime i was paying online with my CC at least 3 times. And all that without explanation and calling.
Why they offer services if you cannot buy them.

I survived the data center move from KY to OH by opening a new account and transferring my domains a couple of days before. My server was down for just about 12 hour, which was less than expected. Support was helpful and hopeful that the new data center would relieve some current problems. I'll still say that all-in-all, IX is a good hosting company in my experience.

I opened a lots of tickets since november 2007 because my sistes drop down or becase they're slow to reach worldwide (by host-tacker.com diagnosis). Ixwebhosting Livechat has no operaton available. I've also to wait 2 days before to get ticket updated. Further they do not inform about scheduled downtimes inspite my request. IX goes on apologize to me well I think to move my hosting soon and far away from IX.

I have been with ix since December, and I have had more tickets in 3months than I have had with hostmonsters in a full year. The main problem is that their site is always down. After every week I have to open a ticket = "site is down". Yesterday, when I called the support someone said they were "placing a new fibre" and will have a 3 hrs down time(what?). I asked why customers were not notified and he said he too has just learned of it. This morning another outage. This time, I cannot even access the chat online and their 1 800 support line says - there is another outage with NO ETA. This is just unacceptable. My site provides a personal web interface to users - this is no good service- don't be fooled by ratings. Just read the review here.

the CPU LIMIT.
Yes, they offer lots of space & bandwidth.
But here's the catch: you use too much cpu... they suspend your account.
So as you can see, there's no way your going near the bandwidth you paid for. What a bunch of liars!

Well, that's my research, you should do your own.

This hosting company is the worst I have ever had to deal with. Their mail serverhas problems EVERY week. Their FTP is slow as shit. They had a hard drive fail and lost all our information (terriable backup procedures!). Our site was down and or slow coming up 50% of the time. Along with these issues their customer service sucks. They dont read your requests properly causing you to sned 3-4 emails/ticketts before they get to resolving the issues. Stay away they are nothing but trouble!

Terrible terrible company. They constantly "upgrade" your account which means that they BREAK it. If you have complicated settings in databases or redirects etc., they will disappear next week.

I have had constant problems with my email. When I contact tech support I sit on the phone for hours and when I finally get someone they give me a story about spam being the problem. I have been experiencing constant email problems since November of 2007. Do not trust their rating because they are going downhill fast. Run as fast as you can to another company

My email started to go down constantly and they actually lose all emails evertime it is down. (Contrary to their saying, don't worry, once it's out of the queue you'll receive all.)
On Friday did instant messaging with tanya in belarus and she kept saying I should change my email address and settings on my computer. I told her even on horde I was not getting any mail for 8 hours and that was not normal (especially no spam!). She had no idea what Horde was or why that meant the problem was not on my computer! Totally unacceptable!
Now it's down again today. I'm switching servers and will be down for a while this weekend, but I said to them it seems crazy that I should be forced to have no email for a couple of days when it was YOUR fault you overleaded the servers. I run two business and can't afford to lose emails all the time. They are terrible and so is the useless support staff. I waiting for ages to instant message or talk to anyone. 25 calls before me on the phone. I used to be okay with them, but now they're just terrible! .

I have been with IX Webhosting for about 2 years. I am currently in the process of trying to transfer two of the three domains I have left with them to another Registrar. Currently 4 days and counting waiting for them to send me the unlock authorization code, and 24 hours on the support ticket asking how long it was going to take. Currently sitting in Live Chat, waiting for an operator to show up. 30 minutes so far.

Just got notice from Fathi Said, CEO of IX that they are moving from Kentucky to Ohio in March and that my websites will be unavailable for 24-48 hours while the servers are moved. How unacceptable is that??? Say goodby to hard earned SE rankings!!!

My sites have been hosted since 2005 without many problems until this year. Since Jan 15th, my hosting has suffered repeated downtimes, at least a couple times a week lasting at least 3 hours per. back on Jan 16th, I received this assurance:

"Our system administration department has fixed this issue for you. We want to assure you though that we will never let this happen again as we have taken certain measures already to prevent this kind of accidents from happening in future."

In a month, eight more outages, at least 30 hous of downtime. I have requested migration to a reliable server. We shall see if they actually do anything.

I resonate with so many of the other reviews, especially in a couple of areas.

First off, your html and shtml files are sometimes replaced by blank files with no coding at all. This is especially problematic when you are running bbs boards and such. There's nothing like losing a few days of posts at any given time. You have to make sure to manually back up everything yourself a couple times every day.

I have had situations where numerous html files were replaced with black files at exactly the same time. The techs have never been able to restore them. Some of the techs have had the audacity to suggest that I somehow miraculously make this tragedy happen! (Yeah, right... I sabotaged my own site, magically making numerous files blank at the same instant, just to have something to complain about.)

Additionally, the techs like to pretend that your problem has never happened before, that you have a totally unique and unheard-of problem! Yet you read over and over in the reviews that similar problems happen to numeorus clients. This kind of dishonesty among the hired help can only be accomplished thruough training to respond this way.

To make things more frustrating, many of the techs can't even speak English well. Make sure you can speak Russian if you want to use their tech service.

Finally, like some other reviewers, I also marvel at how this company is listed in some top ten lists at web host rating sites and such. When you actually find the REAL review sites (like this one), the negative reviews far outweight the positive. The only logical conclusion is that some of the rating sites must receive some benefit in recommending the companies they do. Such a conflict of interests in highly unethical, to say the least.

Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this company. I am switching companies and will be taking IX up on their guarantee of a pro-rated refund. I will post a review to let you know how that turns out, as I see others have had some problems with getting that guaranteed refund.

As I said, IX is at least satisfactory and I have experience with more than a few. Per earlier remark, IX has always responded to my support issues, sometimes sooner than later. They have been honest and taken the blame when they had a problem. Obviously they are having growing pains but management seems to be trying to improve.

I have been with IX for 3years now, and I must say, service has just gone downhill. They have a live-chat support system right?

well 3 years ago you can go onto live chat and they would always get onto resolving the matter themselves.

2 years ago, you get onto live chat and whatever problems you have, they simply ask you to lodge a ticket. It seemed live chat was useless I got so frustrated at one stage, I told them that NO I am not going to lodge a ticket, you are live support, so support and deal with it, and they did. So the have the ability to handle the issue, but just couldn't handle the numbers ~

Last year livechat became a 'leave a message and we'll get back to you" system. In which I filled in details twice and no-one got back to me at all, and I just had to go lodge a proper ticket~

I don't know if IX is growing at a rate where they can't handle it, or what~ But speeds have definately slowed down over the years, I have issues with it's uptime, and it isnt as stable as it used to be~

My account is up for renewal in February, and I have already bought hosting elsewhere~

Wrote earlier, find IX satisfactory. However, they do seem to have some serious email issues. My email tests show that some email never gets delivered. Comcast rejects email sent from my IX accounts. This is not good.

I've been with IX for over a year and have to rate them as at least satisfactory. I have 8 real estate domains, which are monitored and updated daily. I've used several other hosting companies over the years and IX is better by way of up-time, domain mangement tools, and tech support. Sure,they're squirrely sometimes but I just keep the pressure on and they ultimately come arround. My biggest complaint is the bandwidth/website response time, which is about 4-5 times more than competitors (ping). I may have to move my websites if I can't get better speed.

I had trouble accessing my site at least twice a week with IX. The SPAM was a terrible problem. I canceled my account 6 months into the 24 months I had paid for. They refunded less than 25% of my money claiming that that their terms required that because I canceled, even for poor service, I now must pay for set-up fees and domain name registration that are FREE when you sign up. Horrible, rude, employees. MANY complaints to the BBB.

I have had multiple accounts at IxWebhosting for close to 2 years. The service HAD been quite good. Then, in December 2007, My site started "being firewalled" about 4 times a day. I was told numerous tales but I think the upshot is that the new management is getting rid of any high traffic customers by giving terrible service. I bought a plan with 1500Gbytes of traffic per month. And my clients were using just 72GB at the 3 week point when my trouble started. Now they tell me that "too many people are accessing my site at once". It is interesting that my traffic has not gone up much. The big change appears to be in IxWebhosting's management. In any event, I cannot recommend IXW for the reasons stated above.

Between IX and startlogic (both of which I have hosted my site on) -they both are horrific.

The techsupport is awful. I have now gone nearly 40 hours with NO reposonse to my tech issue.

I provide audio for clients. So, my clients log into my site to download files around 10 to 80 meg. IXWebhosting will only let my clients connect at a MAX of about 34Kb/sec.... My complaints to fix the issue have gone unanswered.

The tech support tickets have not been answered, calling the 800 number for support lead me to people who could not resolve my problem. When i was told they would have to escalate it to a senior tech, I asked to speak with such a person... I was told... and I qoute, no kidding... "They do not talk to customers." Holy cow... are you serious?!

Why in the earth would you host on this site?

I have moved to Sectorlink.com and have had all of my tech questions answered within 20 minutes. Coniststanly. once, it was no more than 3 minutes.

Stay AWAY from IX - one more note... the second I signed up with them... my inbox was FLOODED with spam.. It was crazy.

DO NOT BELIEVE THE REVIEWS FOR IX. THE ARE A LIE AND VERY MISLEADING!!! LOOK AND SEARCH FOR THE REVIEWS! OVERWHELMINGLY BAD!!!

I've hosted with ixwebhosting for about a year and a half and was fairly pleased until recently, when in order to maintain quality serving speeds I had to increase my payments substantially. Even more troublesome was the fact that larger servers, such as comcast.net, began adding my IP to their email blacklist due to characteristics of spam. Repeated and extended conversations with IX support resulted in my mail accounts being moved to a different server, with the same problems recurring only a couple months later. I'm sick of these roadbumps; obviously the nondedicated IPs IX uses are also being utilized by spammers and mass marketing sites, thereby tainting my emails as such due to the shared IP. I'm done with IX, I've moved to a different, more reliable host.

I've had them as a hosting service for about 2.5 years. Until recently I've had no major problems. Over the past month and a half, my websites (all personal) have gone down daily.

Every support call to them is met with a response (usually several hours later) saying they're sorry for the inconvenience and that the server is operational.

I'm starting my switch to a new service today. What a pain!

I wouldn't recommend them anymore.

I wish I had found this website before transfering our website over to ixwebhosting. I thought they had a good reputation and they have only hosted our website for 10 days, 4 days of that has been down time. It took over nine hours to just get a response from their tech team. I just paid another host to host our website for I found out the hard way that I can not rely on ixwebhosting service. I don't like to write anything bad about anyone but the truth is the truth and being a business man of over 25 years, I can't afford for our website to be down for hours or for days.

I signed up with ixwebhosting and had downtime every single day. When I submitted a request to cancel, I got a phone call and was informed that the downtime was due to DOS attacks. I was assured that this was under investigation and the situation would improve; it didn't.

I decided to go ahead and cancel the account and made necessary DNS changes prior to submitting the cancellation request. Approximately 12 hours later I found that the DNS changes I had made were no longer in place, and e-mails were being rejected.

DO NOT host with IX!!! I have been with them 2 months, and have had problems with intermittent downtime of the site and not being able to FTP, and slow tech support response. But the KICKER happened recently - my 500Gb plan is not as they advertise! My site content just inched over 52GB, when they shut it down saying it was too much space usage! It's just an unfortunate effect of a shared hosting environment, they said in an email. So their advertising is a LIE!

Also, they will not tolarate a site (NON ADULT) with ANY nudity on it at all, even tasteful. Be forewardned, I wish I knew these things before b/c I have wasted many hours uploading to their server and must now change to another server.

As the number of the visitors at www.albasong.com, tetova.com, aktuale.com reached over 20.000, decided our webhosing company called www.ixwebhosting.com to suspend our website. We had a "Unlimited Pro" Account, but IXWEBHOSTING does not care about this. "Unlimited" means for www.webhosting.com, the number of the visitors shuld not get higher than 100 visitors a day!!

They did this without inform us, or warn us. They just supsended us and did linked our website to their "default error-page" wich
contains SEX-LINKS and SPAMER-LINKS!!

Our Advice to everyone: DONT HOST WITH www.ixwebhosting.com company! YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR MONEY!!

We are working at moment to transfer our files to a serious webhosting company! This will take about 2-3 days.

I have been with ixwebhosting for 3 years now. We use our site very extensively. Email DNS is forwarded to our exchange server so I've had no experience with that service for this account. I think they are great! I as well try to solve or troubleshoot a problem, if there is one, before I contact them. No 1+ hours on the phone to reach tech support and they are very helpful.

I have moved my personal account to them which I am using their email and have no problems to date. I use my email very heavily and am very happy with them.

I have a client that I will be moving to ixwebhosting very shortly because I like their plans and service.

NO PROBLEMS HERE! LOVE THEM!

Technical support reps do not what they are doing. If you the live chat feature and they mostly use canned responses and it's seems they are in a hurry to get rid of you. They treat you like a fool!! After insistance as they know what the issue, they ask to fill out a submit a ticket. I submitted a ticket and 20 hours later I got an email that issue was solved. It was not. What a disaster!

I have been using IX for 4 or 5 years. I've had the Business 8 IP plan and the PRO plan with 16 IP's. I never had an issue but I try to solve problems myself. The few times I sent a ticket it was frustrating because it was a wait.
I love IX because it is easy to use. The cost is just right and I've never noticed a server going down. Once they sent me an email apologizing for a downtime. I had no idea what they were talking about.

Most of the complaints here sound like a few people posting under many screen names.

I had the same problem regarding ASP.NET. I went to FindMyHosting.com and researched hosting companies there that provide .NET 2.0. I went with 3Essentials (www.3essentials.com). That was 1 month ago and haven't had any problems since.

I actually called them and asked questions about service (my fault for believing them). Nice technology and control, but that is where it ends.

For windows they still run asp.net 1.1. I had asked the salesperson on the phone (who honestly had no clue about anything related to hosting). I was told they ran asp.net 2.0. I mean who is running 1.1 anymore.

Anyways after a weekend of setting up the sites I find out to my amazement I cannot use them due to the asp.net 1.1.

I ASK FOR A REFUND FROM SUPPORT (warning they do have chat support, but it is overseas)m, and this is where the run around starts. YOU CANNOT SIMPLY ASK FOR A REFUND. They request numerous emails etc..... and once that is complete they want to call you to discuss the refund.

Stay away if you want a company that you can trust. Stay away if you want to support companies that outsource overseas.

we took the business plus package with this company and the first 5 months were fine. Then we started hosting multiple sites under our account and then the problems started, the server was down at least once a month, we had blocked emails coming as opentransfer was being blocked and therefore we couldnt contact our customers and were losing not only customers, but business, money and professional image.

their support is not helpful! I didnt realise their support was outsourced to eastern europe but always wondered why i was getting very strange named staff replying!

and to top it all off, this morning i get a call from a customer to tell me that my site is down and all my other customer sites are down, they have all been hacked and the data deleted!

i have lost everything, to restore from backups will take a while but the security issue has not been addressed and so far i have been waiting 6 hours for their support team to give me some response to why it was possible to hack all my accounts.

I have 6 months left with this company and if i can manage to stay afloat until then, i will most definitely not be renewing!

STAY AWAY, they cannot guarantee your site is secure, will stay up (even though they say 99.99% uptime, bollocks!) and your email addresses will quite often get bounced, blacklisted or simply refuse to work.

Horrible. Absolutely horrible. I have been with them 1 week, and am already moving. Tech support is outsourced to the Ukraine. they don't speak english well and are horribly trained. They know next to nothing. All of our roaming employee email accounts (accessed through 3G phones) can not send outbound email with IX. IX blocks their email because IX uses the "spamcop database" to block users IP addresses. somehow Spamcop is triggered by mobile 3G Ip accounts, or the IP addresses are dynamic so you just get a bad IP address and are screwed. Poof - and your email is blocked. Over 1 week later, IX support has abandoned restoring our outbound email. They just say "dispute the listing in Spamcop". IX is horribly diruptive to a small business, and their support doesn't care less.

You get what you are paying for with ANY of these shared web hosting plans.

Too many accounts are crammed on each server, some accounts running IRC and other bad scripts that will drag down everything else on that node.

IX Webhosting has a datacenter in Kentucky, but it isn't THEIR datacenter. The support staff is in Dubai.

Do yourself a favor and go to Spry.com They are located just outside of Seattle, you can call them on the phone and talk to their technical staff. They also own domaintools.com.

You can get shared hosting from them or you can do the smart thing and go with a Virtual Private Server (VPS) acccount where you don't have to share with 750 other accounts on the same server node.

If they are down for more than one day in any given month, you can get the next month free.

I have been with Spry since February, and they did have one day where the server failed and they had to restore a backup that took almost 24 hours. I got the next TWO months free.

Other than that one time, my server has not gone down.

This is the 3rd time our server went down, each time was for more than 96 hours.

They lie and basically do not know when it will return, then when it does it is an old restoration.

I left this company in disgust recently after being with them for 18 months. The first 12 months presented few problems. But over the last 6 months, judging from both by own experiences and various comments on PC and IT forums, the company's server infrastructure seems to seriously creaking under the load of too many websites and too few resources to host them.

Firstly, they oversell, a problem now widespread in the industry. Ultra cheap rates with promises of ridiculously excessive bandwidth and storage allowances certainly wins over customers in the extremely competitive bottom-end of the hosting market. But this highly questionable sales model is based on the assumption that nearly all users will only consume a fraction of the data they pay for and generally not put any stress on bandwidth, CPU and memory resources.

But wait...there's a very big catch. By IX crowding each server machine with too many customer accounts all it takes to cause a problem is for a handful of those customers to start getting some serious web traffic on their sites (they are only using the generous bandwidth they are legally entitled to, mind you). Once that happens the rest of the sites hosted on that machine can be affected with any number of different technical glitches and problems. And that might include you.

Secondly, you may come to know what a brain seizure is really like after you've experienced the comical and incredibly maddening world of IX Web Hosting Customer Support. You see with IX being the ultra cheapskates that they are, the live chat operators and email helpdesk staff are actually based in Eastern Europe and the Indian subcontinent. The staff's command of English is adequate at best, indecipherable at worst. Couple this language barrier with technical incompetence and flat out lying on occasions and you can only imagine what it's like for the poor schmuck who just wants his website and email to run good. I witnessed deceit, half-truths, and a constant contradicting of their own statements. Not to mention frequent blaming of the customer, such as blaming your ISP when its technically impossible that your ISP could in any way be involved with a particular problem.

IX Web Hosting? Beware all ye who enter here.

So how to do you spot a reputable web host? I would suggest you look for a slightly higher price and far smaller (and realistic) data allowances. Chances are you will be dealing with a company that does take its customers seriously and does not operate a seriously overloaded data centre that's the consequence of all this ultra cheap hosting madness.

You will lose emails, won't be able to send to some domains, and you will be flagged as a smapper for others. I have 12 years experience with 18 providers. These are on the bottom of my list. Unfortunately, I prepaid for a year!

I've used IXwebhosting for 3 years now and it is my sixth hosting service in 10 years. It is the best I've experienced. Their tech support response time has slipped a little over the years but I've had 100% resolution of issues in the worst maybe 20 hours later. I've never seen any of my three sites down for a second. They have even resolved tech issues for me by changing my faulty code HTML code. I have nothing but admiration for them. A superb value

I come from Germany and my English is not so good, so I can't find words to describe how they are bad, I am really chocked, I have there 12 websites in 3 different accounts and 10 of them are not working , in 2 websites , I didn't find the content , they said to me that they were hacked !! and if I ask about something in the chat, they say the server are working fine , and it's not their problem, they have a bad chat support, the people of the Chat come from India and Russia and they can't help, they waiste your time only , I am chatting with them the whole day and no answer, beware of this company !!!!!!!!!!!

I have been with IX for nearly 12 months initially I was disappointed as the MYSQL server was slow or down. When I complained I was told it was a fault at my end. I wrote an email explaining that on site had dropped over 3,000 visitors and that I was very disappointed. Since that email IX have been so helpful. They respond to my email within the hour, they tell me what the problem is and if they feel I should be moved because of the activity on the server is slowing my site they move me to a restricted server.

I have used what have been advertised as the top hosting companies and received no service at all. I moved to a dedicated server with Hostway and they could not even get the server working in over six months, could not get the email working and refused to stick to their contract and refund the monthly fee and when the account was closed still took money from my credit card, I lost over £7,000 with Hostway so am very pleased with IX, the service and fees.

For big sites with a lot of visitors, I would suggest to take another hosting company. For small sites (small load on SQL database as well) Ixwebhosting will do.

Cheap host, support average, but MAJOR connection problems. My sites are down for small periods during the day (more than 10 times, mostly a few minutes before they come back). SQL databases are having continuous problems. Speed is (from belgium) extremely low compared to other hostings I have. I'm switching all my sites and keep IXwebhosting for crap sites and mass mailing.

Same problems -- IX email is routed through opentransfer.com, which is notorious for allowing spammers to mass email. As a result, all email (incoming and outgoing) shuts down multiple times throughout the day, if spam activity peaks. There is also the risk of your address being blacklisted worldwide as a result, just for using IX and opentransfer mail routers. Website delivery is also slow. I had transferred a number of commercial websites to IX, and now am moving them away just as quickly as I can. These guys are going to put me out of business.

They use exactly the same setup as the more expensive host excellence, both are infact owned by one parent company. At first I was not happy with the uptime with either company, however in the last year that has improved. The support is almost useless unless you phone them directly. Basically its not frills hosting, you get what they say you get which is fine for my needs.

iv been work ixwebhosting for over 1 year, and over all there not a bad hosting company if YOU ONLY WANT WHAT YOU SEE IN THE CONTROL PANEL, if you wish anything else that requires speaking with their tech support there HORRIBLE, there staff cant even speak proper english, and which have no network/internet knowledge. i personaly think they read everything from custom how-to's. I think im going to go to another hosting comany anyways. i just signed up with them so i could have my sites working until i finished the design of my network. now that i want to transfer my domains to me, they have no clue

Where do I start with this outfit..?

I have been with ixwebhsoting for only two months and experienced nothing but problems.

Sites are slow to load or just don't load at all.

The Live Chat support is poor with two standard replies to any problem - either they can't see a problem or it's you.

The ticket system is also poor, with responses taking over 24 hours.

Several times now I have reported issues via Live Chat, been told there is no problem, raised a ticket and then recieved an answer saying they have fixed it. But they never tell you what the problem was or what they did to solve it.

There have been two occasions when hey offered to move me to a more reliable server. How many unreliable servers do they have?

You get what you pay for and with ixwebhosting low priced plans means low service.

I will be changing to a new provider.

My recommendation - stay away. The money you save through buying a plan from ixwebhosting you will spend several times over trying to resolve constant problems.

It was all right at the begining of last year, near the end of 2006 it started to fail and now it is the worst. Every day there is outages or so slow it won't load at all for normally loaded in 1 or 2 seconds

I upgraded and one week later they shut down the site again.

I have now moved all my sites and domains over to another hosting company and will never return to these monkeys.

Most of the negative review are spot on, particularly email issues, tech support (phone or Ticket). Server is very slow or is down often. Emails don't get sent or are returned as undeliverable (error 500), drafts don't get saved nor sent emails get saved is the sent folder, etc.

Fdb writes exactly like the folks at IXwebhosting. Fdb is probably someone that works for them.

When we first began using IX (3 years ago) IX webhosting worked fine, but that didn't last long. Our sites are down at least twice a day and the SQL and MySQL servers are down 10 or more times a day. Occasionally we have a day or so of zero problems. IX's customer service is the worst there is. They are based in India (even though they will say they are not) and they never ever admit the problem is with IX. The email service is down several times a day and if you send more than 25 emails per session they will block you as a spammer.

It's true that it is hard to beat IX's price for the features that you get, but if the site is down as often as it is the value of their service is reduced significantly.

We are an internet retail service with several sites. We have been a customer of IX for over 2 years and are NOT on one of their cheap packages. Their service like their support staff's English is getting worse and worse. The IX servers are down for maintenance at least a few times every week normally for 3 to 6 hours. Their servers will also be down at least one time per week or two due to technical problems or non scheduled updates.

A power supply upgrade took down our sites recently for over 12 hours.

E-mail fails almost every day.

If an AOL customer marks ANY of your e-mails as spam (in our case confirmation of the customers order) then IX will immediately disable all of your e-mails without informing you or consulting with you. It will take you several days to get this re-enabled after you have spent hours trying to work out why your e-mails suddenly stopped working in the first place. Obviously if you really are sending spam then you will probably not get re-enabled at all as you would expect.

Support will always tell you that a problem with the servers will be resolved within 20-30 minutes. This will not be the case and normally your site will be offline for hours.

This hosting service has got worse and worse over the past year. They really don't care at all about their customers. Support will drive you mad running you around and round in circles. Your e-mail WILL stop working on a regular basis and your websites will be offline on a regular basis.

Save yourself a lot of stress even if it means spening a little more money and look for a reliable provider.

IX main site down and my site down or incredibly slow.

Have had over 2 hours downtime last 3 months in a row. They did refund 1 month but its like getting blood from a stone plus its only a month extra free not a month refunded.

I work in a company responsible for datacentre's all over the UK. Some very very big and while sometimes downtime cannot be avoided as every company finds out consisten downtime and performance problems should be resolved and are poor managment.

From what i can tell IX used to be good but went foul - new managment trying to cut costs? maybe but please stay clear.
the People have taken there time to post these warnings will represent a larger proportion of dissatisified customers.

So you’re saying the rest of us are useless? You’re just lucky that the SQL server you’re hosted on is probably new and not many users have been allocated there. I have separate accounts on IX for various clients bought at different times. The websites on one account could be timing out but on the other are just fine!

You might have also noticed a large amount of comments on this page starting with “when I first started hosting on IX everything was fine until…” Don’t get me wrong I am not against IX in anyway there products/services/support are great but their big downfall are their SQL servers…. Big big downfall!

I have been using IX wenhosting for 2 years. They have been fine apart from 2 crucial factors.
1) They run SQL queries VERY ERRATICALLY. Sometimes in a fraction of a second, while at other times these trivial queries takes many minutes. After a phone call to ther tech help, they admitted that they were "not good" (their words, not mine) at running SQL. They agreed that I should leave IX webhosting and go elsewhere if my website required consistent response times for SQL queries.
2) The online CHAT service is completely hopeless for anything other than a simple question about how to use the Control Panel. When using the CHAT service to try to resolve erratic SQL response times, they tried to fob me off with every possible irrelevant excuse, rather than just admit that their SQL servers were frequently "maxed-out" and hence extremely slow.
I really have no choice but to move away from IX webhosting, which I am currently doing

The other day I decided I had enough, and after spending the better part of a day looking at other shared hosting plans, I found that they all suck for one reason or another.

So I started looking at Virtual Personal Server accounts where the boxes aren't stuffed with hundreds of other accounts all vying for the same resources.

I settled on a VPS account at Spry.net. For a little more expense, I get a lot more benefit -- including the ability to offset my cost by reselling a few accounts to friends.

Dave, who works in a datacenter and is an apologist for IX Webhosting isn't telling the whole story. Webhosts tend to "over-book" their servers thereby pushing them to their limits.

I can't say I have ever had a good experience talking to their "support" over the telephone -- none could see a problem and suggested it might be a problem on MY end. (of course all of my readers all over the world must have had the same problem because THEY were seeing the problem also)

During the time I was with IX, I had a duplicate site on Hosting Matters and the difference in performance was night and day. The only reason I left Hosting Matters was because if I had a problem, it might take them up to a week to respond to a ticket. IX responded right away, but could never offer a resolution -- or at least one that was permanent. They would fiddle with something and things would be fine for about a day and then it was back to slow loads and pages that could not be displayed due to server timeouts.

Now my site loads snappy and there are no problems. It doesn't mean that there won't be the occasional problem in the future, but I am sure they will be few and far between.

I guess the moral to the story is if you want reliablility and performance, stay away from Shared Webhosting.

Sorry if I offended anyone with my previous post. My comments were directed more at people like "Sylvia Brohawn" who use exaggeration and slander instead of facts to make apoint. I guess in my frustration I did the same.

Anyway, as far as IX goes, or any webhost for that matter it is very hard to keep a datacenter at 100% uptime. I work at a datacenter for a multi-billion dollar corporation and if our servers go down then we lose millions of dollars an hour until they are back up. But, unfortunately we have had the exact same problems as IX. During a power upgrade the fire alarm tripped (shorted) and caused the entire datacenter to go on UPS power. Our contractor guaranteed that we would have 45 minutes to do a safe shut down, but that was more realistically 4min. The entire datacenter went to generator power, and damned if that wasn't a bad time to find out that our generators couldn't handle the new server load. The entire site went down for 7 hours. Now this is a Multibillion dollar company- 7 hours. I have tried to hit Yahoo- offline. MSN- Down. ebay - Not responding. I have never seen a site (including MS) that has never gone down sans Google. It just happens.

For the gentleman that said he was with IX for a year with 90% uptime! Where is your data coming from? According to your claim IX would have had to have been down a total of 36.5 days out of that year! Why haven't you requested a refund? Why are you still with them?

To most of the people who wondered, "Why is IX #1 with all of these bad reviews? They must be paying the site off." Just because there are a few hundred reviews on the web claiming the IX stinks, doesn't mean that there is not tens of thousands of satisfied customers that do not post. Look at the big picture.

Yes, I have noticed that IX does have slow SQL servers, but the customer service rep that I spoke with admitted that they do have a few "black sheep" servers that tend to not be performance champions, but he gladle moved me off that server and my performance imporved 100%. It's all about how you talk to the people.

And absolutely, I NEVER use their ticket system. I do not know where they get those people, but I agree with everyone that claims that they just re-iterate your problem back to you and act like they don't understand. That is the WORST part about IX.

I kind of adree with Rich and Steve, mostly because I was hosting a web forum and it was running crappy, I called support and they blamed MySql. Well it really did turn out to be my Sql. I had screwed up a few tables, and it made my whole site screwy. The customer service tech gave me a few tips and I had it running very well in a short amount of time.

In short, there are no web hosts that will NEVER be down. There is no perfect customer support.

And lastly, the attitude that you give is the attitude that you get back. Remember that.

I have been with IX for about a year. I like their prices and product/services. I have no complaint about the server speeds. I have multiple domains using multiple SQL Servers. My opinion, they all run quickly. But I am good programmer:) Seriously, the people complaining about speed, may not be coding efficiently or effectively.

I have mixed feelings about IXwebhosting. I have had my personal sites hosted with them for about two years. There have been outages now and then but I had the same with outages with a previous hosting company as well. They are not perfect by any means, but I don't beleive they are as bad as some are saying. Given the low hosting costs they have, its hard to complain because one should understand they are getting what they pay for. How can anyone buy a Huffy bike and expect it to be Harley? That's exactly what some of you seem are doing. I choose hosting my websites at a hosting company versus running and maintaining my own server because it's not only less expensive but also there are alot less headaches in maintaining and keeping up with Server upgrades. And before some of you start saying" This guy must be getting paid by IX", that is not true by any means. AGAIN, I am not saying they are the best but for the money I really don't think they are the worst either.

I have been with IX for a little over a year. At first, they were an excellent host -- fast servers, responsive support. But over the past three months, something happened, and everything went to hell. My sites load slowly, support will respond to tell me that it has to be something on MY end because THEY don't see a problem.

In the past month, my site has been up about 80 percent of the time, and over half of that has been extremely low page loads.

If you ping your site, you will find that the connection is fine up until you get to THEIR opentransfer.com gateway. After that, everything just times out.

I did a diagnosis of the SQL server and found that they average roughly 2500 connections a minute, compared to an average of 120 connections on another web host I use. This seems to indicate that they have severely overbooked their servers to maximize profit at the expense of performance. When I asked the support tech about this on the phone, he got very agitated and told me that I had no business questioning their set up. He then hung up the phone on me and within minutes my account was suspended.

When I called back, I was shuttled to "sales" and was told that I had violated some EULA provision and that they were terminating my account. I told them that I not only wanted to retrieve all of my data on their server, I also expected a FULL refund of my yearly subscription. I was told that I was not entitled to either.

I then contacted the BBB that they've listed on their website and was told that they haven't been a member of the BBB for three years.

I was also told that one of the ways these web hosts claim to be in the "top ten" is because they've PAID to be listed that way.

If you value your website, STAY AWAY FROM IXWEBHOSTING.

I left Hosting Matters for IX Webhosting because they had phone support 24/7. That was a huge selling point for me, along with all of the "#1 reviews" IX was supposed to have. Now I suspect that they paid to have a #1 review because their service and performance is anything but.

If your site requires SQL or server side includes, this is not the host for you. If you are running a FrontPage site, you will probably be alright -- as long as there is still a connection to the internet.

It also looks like IX throttles CPU resources so if you are running any scripts it might choke on them. I run a WordPress blog with a few well-written plugins and I find it choking all the time during the day.

I just want a host that I never have to call for support, and the pages load fast. I can understand the occasional periods of down time -- nothing is 100 percent. But from the day I signed up with IX, I noticed that everything ran so damn slow. Loading my page on a 15 mbps fiber connection was like trying to load using a dial up.

Another thing: with all of the negative reports I have seen here, how in the hell does this page list them so high? Could it be that Vista Intermedia is being paid by IX?

I'm back up and seems like I've received all of my email (nothing appears to have bounced.) I do the webhosting for my company (small manufacturing plant) and the owner is difficult to get along with and doesn't understand outages like this.

Needless to say, she was very upset this morning and threatend my job over the outage. I've been with IX for over one year and have had a few problems here and there but they always seem to come when she is trying to send/receive emails.

I don't doubt the 99% uptime claim by IX - but companies should measure uptime/downtime against peak business hours. Being out two hours in an entire month is like 99.7% uptime. Being out 2 hours in a 160 hour work month is 98.75% up. Dramatically different in my book.

Anyone know of a hosting company that never goes down? I better find one or I'm going to have a lot of personal downtime in the near future!

I’ve been hosting my websites on IXWEBHOSTING for almost a year, in the beginning everything was fine. After a couple of months it was down/slow constantly. Basically their SQL servers are down or extremely slow 70% of the time (no exaggeration here)

If you’re looking to host a personal website then this is for you cost effective etc etc… If however you have an online business and especially websites that are driven by an SQL database then forget it, pay a buck or two more and get reliable hosting from another company. Today was the last straw for me and have to move around 20 websites somewhere more reliable.

I can’t really say anything bad about their support, I haven’t had any problems with that.

I just signed up with them - host two domains - and, I did get their notice the other day that they would be down for a Power Upgrade, however that was to be over 2 days ago.. My domains were working fine yesterday/last night.. today they are both down as is ixwebhosting main homepage. I don't have their phone number.

I've been with ixwebhosting for only a short time now, maybe about a month. This ithe fist time that my sites have been down for any length of time. But this has me concerned. I can't reach them by phone. I'm betting they lost power in their building. There was an email sent out about a day ago saying they were upgrading their UPS backup system. It's possible it went south taking down their entire infrastructure. I kinda of doubt they went of of business overnight.

Here here. I've been with IX for 2 years and have had the odd downtime here and there, but not enough to bother me beyond considering moving, but then they've come back online and I've continued enjoying their useful control panel, etc.

However, this past month there has been more and more downtime and it has been increasingly annoying. I am in the process of moving my domain to another host as I type - they've had their last chance as far as I'm concerned.

I've had it with IX Webhosting. Unlike what "Dave, 04th of February, 2007" wrote two entries below this, I moved from another host that I thought had terrible support to IX four months ago and have been down more than I have been up. The servers are extremely slow, and when you call them on it they will tell you that THEY can get your site in less than two seconds.

DUH. They are sitting right next to it.

While I am talking to them on the phone and trying to load my site, they tell me that they see nothing wrong with the way it loads.

Since I've been at IX I have seen my site hits drop from roughly 5000 hits a day to less than a hundred over time because my readers have finally given up trying to reach the site. (this is a site that I have spent the better part of six years building up a solid readership.

I got up this morning, checked my site, and found it is completely dead again. So is everything else at IX.

Dave, you must be an employee at IX, because you appear to be the ONLY person who seems to be sticking up for them. Calling us 12 year olds because we stand up and complain about the crummy service is assinine. Telling us it might be OUR fault IX is down is ignoring the fact that their servers can't even be pinged most of the time when their sites are down.

I've been on the Web since 1995, using a number of different ISPs and hosting companies. I can honestly say that I've had more downtime on my email and Websites in the two months I've been with IX than in all the previous 12 years.

I don't understand why IX is so top-rated by all those "Top 10 Best Hosts" sites, unless the fix is in.

Incidentally, as of this writing IX's own main site is down, as well as all my email and my eight Websites.

My goodness some people freak out. "I have been with this web host A WHOLE MONTH and I screwed up my database and it's THEIR FAULT!" I have been with ix for 3 years and most of the time when my site is offline, it IS my fault. I have called their customer support on average 4-5 times a year, and every time they are extremely helpful and really do know what they are talking about. For all of the "experts" on web hosting, if you really were such an expert and had soo much hosting experience- you'd be running your own server instead of having one hosted. I am no expert, but I do work in IT for a major corporation and am quite familiar with today's technology and expectations. IX has great services, great customer support and wonderful uptime. The only other time in three years that they were offline was during a Cisco upgrade, and they credited me for it. I don't know why they are currently offline, and it has me a little worried. But for you people that post under a few different ID's so that you can hammer the negative reviews, grow up. Even the #1 rated web host on this site has you retards shouting, "TEH WORSTEST WEhOST EVAr!!!RoxXORs!! BWARE!! SATY AWAY!!! BeAN WITHT HEM FOR A WEEK AND I CAN't RITE HTMLL< IT"S THERE FAUlt, TEY ARE TEH WORST HOST EVAARRR!!" When IX xomes back online, give them a try. Horrible! My ecommerce site was just started on server. I was stupid to annouce its launch, because the site is offline for hours, the database connection is slow and their help is a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. Save your money!

The sit is down often without any notifications. After one month I am ready to move - lesson learnt.

i've been using this service for the last six months. In general, I find their support quite apalling. Its been almost a week since a mysql based website I run was disabled without their notifying me. When I asked them to clarify, they said something about my mysql database having caused a crash and asked me to "optimize my query". Of course, in a CMS, there are hundreds of queries run from different pages and they dont provide access to mysql logs. So I have no way of knowing what they want me to do. Asking them doesnt yield a response. For the first two days of the last week, I got replies every 15 hours (so much for 1 hour guaranteed response) which only said that i should optimize my queries without telling specifically what the problem was. After that they've just stopped replying to me!
I do not have a backup of my mysql database, and I've asked them to atleast allow me to download a dump, even if they dont bring my site back online. But even this simple request has not been granted.
Online chat tells you exactly what you tell them! They are utterly useless .
Meanwhile, my site has an ugly message "Site not available" and I'm quite sure google and other search engines are indexing.
I picked IXwebhosting after reading rave reviews about it. Obviously I should have checked deeper.
This latest piece of misery comes on top of regular downtime (1 hr per day average) and extremely slow servers. Dont be misled by the fraudulent "Better Business" certificate crap that they display. I suspect they run this Better Business organisation themselves and its just a scam.
Stay away from them. The money you save isnt worth the downtime and the harassment you face whilst trying to get a response out of them.
Dont expect a quiet trouble-free hosting service.
Sucks. Hate them. Miserable. Apalling. Trash. Bad Reviews. Pathetic service.

The Ticket Help is not all that helpful. I think there might be a communication/language issue. You guys are not the only ones with problems with IX now. Their interface is slow to load. I had domain issues for a week. The templates are nice, but buggy at times. It looks like it gets hard coded, so if I edit the pages directly the template manager gets screwy.

My website is constantly down for 4 or 5 hours a day from the start of this year. I payed for one year for the Professional plan but nothing professional there. LiveChat support actually calms you down. They now about the situtation as much as you do. They are there to tell you that your web site is down - like you don't know.
I have had bad expirience with hosting but this is maybe the worst.
Recommendation-if you see the word FREE on the webhoster's site and it is not a donut than run away fast.

after countless hours and sleepless nights transferring my website to ix, i finally did the last step of pointing my domain name to their nameservers. now that i'm finally able to access it, ka-pow! VERY SLOOOOW..... after a few hours, it went DOOOOWWWNNNN..... i tried the livechat and they don't know what they're talking about.

It was a very big mistake to transfer my site here. I wish I have read these reviews before.. :-(

If I were you, stay away. Don't get hooked with their offered features. They're useless anyway, if your customers/members go away.

Right now I've been without email on my main business domain for four hours during evening prime time, whcich is costinmg me clients and money. While they do respond quickly to my trouble tickets and sometimes apologize, they take a long time to fix the problem and never offer an explanation.

Good thing they offer a money back guarantee on service, as I have had to call it in. Downtime of about an hour a day might be acceptable for some, but try running even a small home business off it, and your reputation is history. The final straw for me came when finally asking about their money back guarantee. It took over a week to get a response, and the response was simply your account has been suspended and you will receive a refund in approx a week. Meanwhile my site was left with displaying a dirty great message "account suspended" which has done my business no end of good things... not! I am still in the process of trying to propogate my new DNS as the IXWebHosting name servers have not relinquished authority yet...

Ix has some issues. Slow bandwidth, MySQL server is continually down. No ping, slow slow ftp server response. Support people via ticket don’t know Sh##t from apple sauce. Phone support, is much better during normal business hours, other wise forget it, they are out sourced to India. Down time on web servers happens from time to time, but normally doesn’t last long.
They have a canned excuse for every problem. And when you submit a ticket about a problem, they push most back in your face belittling you, as if you don’t know what the score really is. But they are cheap. Business went to 8 dedicated ip addressees and unlimited pro went to 16. IX is a mixed bag. My suggestion is, if you need fast reliable MySQL don’t use IX, for general webhosting for simple websites, or websites without heavy data bases, they are ok. Internet marketing stores might want to reconsider IX as a host

The worse hosting we have ever used. Switched to them a couple of weeks ago after looking at many raving reviews, but then found our site down 3-5 times during the first week and it continues to present us with problems on a daily basis after we have stitched to a less 'busy' server. My advice, stay AWAY! Posting this on as many reviews as possible so people have the ture story.

IX Webhosting's support is GREAT, servers are down maybe once every six months, but are quickly fixed.
Server's aren't packed and load fast. Go for IX!

Servers down all the time. Poor help from customer service. I decided to change hosts after two weeks of trying to work on my website with very little success. The response time was forever. No good for stores...customers wont wait that long for the homepage to appear. STAY AWAY!

Am looking for a better server that will not give me ping times of over 105ms I assumed that their central location would be better Unfortunately they block pings and Tech support will not help with an ip I can ping. Seems standard for the industry though they all talk up time when it is relative ping that can help a Slow site become fast I will not make the same mistake again and never transfer before I know what the ping is

I'm waiting for a ticket for 10 hours, they just have to run one command on the linux server... support is POOR and the "will be fixed ASAP" got too common for me. it's like a BYE message

IX is fine if you don't mind overbooked servers, random downtime and customer service that rarely understands the question, let alone provides a decent response.

Stay far, far away from them.

The fact that this site touts them as the "uptime leader" brings in to question the accuracy (or bias) of this site.

they host 2 sites for us. One Window which run now for 6 month w/o a downtime problem but... we are using ms sql which is hosting on separate computer by ixweb (why?). This cause a very poor response time. The Linux server was very unreliable and slow during 07-08/2006.

I've worked with 3 other hosting providers over the course of about 5 years, and been hosting with IX for about 2 years now, and despite the low rates, their customer service and reliability have been the best I've experienced so far.

I have had some periods of non-connectivity with my sites (who doesn't at some time or another), but any that I observed were traced to routers that were outside their domain. Any time I've had a question or problem, responses from tech support have been timely and on the mark.

I remember only once my website became unavailable. This lasted for a few hours. I worked with a bunch of server companies and ixwebhosting is the best.

Utter crap. They where down constantly. The email seemed to never work. The chat was some sort of indian call centre that has no relationship to the actual data centre, and after 3 days downtime we STILL are not getting motion.

Do not use this terrible company at any cost.

Very good service and hosting experience from IXwebhosting. In more than 2 years very little downtime, and their tech support are tops.

I would also suggesting avoiding ix at all costs...I have been done far to many times and have now been down for almost two days...They have told me a number of times in the last few days they will have it fixed but my whole business is run on their email servers and my staff has been sitting around collecting wages and not able to do business. They have promised it will be fixes "soon" every time I call and it is not...now they are telling me they should be up in 4 to 6 more hours...they have obviously built no redundancy into their systems and can not be trusted as a business...

i must say pathetic service. dont; go for them in any cost. its more than 34 hours every website hosted with them is down. they dont give any time duration, neither inimate you about downtime, poor and worst service.

UNRELIABILE. Email is down every other day. It has been down for over 36 hours now (bounce back city). Not helpful. Avoid at all costs.

They are ok, They are pretty cheap and I can host 10 domains for 20 bucks, their plans just changed. I had a backup issue but since then it was resolved, I have not has my site down 1 day and it's been 6 months. I have notice the bandwith is a little slow, but that could be any number of things
